Hello Twisties, don’t get weirded out by the title.
This is the day after the wedding when they are going to Nagpur and I’m changing it from the original serial.
Internal monologues are written in bold as the bald head of Lord Voldemort.
Enjoy the chapter without any further ado…

~Virat’s POV~
How did my life become such a mess? My heart questions.
It’s because duty always overpowers what you feel and want. My mind tells my heart and I cannot stop turning my head to the side to look at Sai.
She is looking outside of the window of the car that Sunny’s driving. Seated next to him is Pakhi, I’m seated right behind her and Sai behind Sunny.
“Bhabhi (Sister-in-law),” Sunny tries to make a conversation with Sai and I want to hit him, “how did you meet Virat?”
“Hmm, Sunny dada (brother) there are two versions.”
“How come two?” I ask her. She rolls her eyes at me.
“It’s because when you first entered Gadchiroli with the car accommodated to you,” she takes a pause, “your driver was driving too fast, that I and my new bought suitcases got splashed with mud. I walked towards the car as it was waiting and I saw you with your headphones as well as laughing about something. I wanted to…”
“You wanted to punch me,” I cut her off and complete her sentence, she nods with a pout. While Sunny is roaring with laughter whereas Pakhi seems to ignore me and her.
“And what is the second version?” Sunny asks after he had stopped laughing.
“We met at the welcoming function for me. They told her to welcome me, and at that time, I got a call. I think it was a wrong number. Sai sarcastically asked me if I’m finished that she can put a garland over me…” I got interrupted by Sunny.
“What did you do that Bhabhi was being like that to you?”
“He asked my Aaba not to go in pension and tour him whole Gadchiroli. So I was annoyed at him and told him that, when I went to meet him at the house that was accommodated to him with Usha Mausi (aunt from mother’ or mother-in-law’s side).“
“But you forgot to mention the reason why you got really angry at me!” I exclaim and she ignores me.
“And you shouted at me too, so that’s why I called you…”
And like an excited kid Sunny asks, “what did you call Virat? And why are you guys exchanging the answers to my questions?”
“I / She called him / me Gabbar.” We both answer back his first question together, we look at each other and begin to laugh.
Her laugh is so beautiful. My heart says while my mind tries to divert my attention towards the woman, I love but somehow I cannot.
I keep looking at Sai, who soon falls asleep with her head positioned uncomfortably, so place it on my shoulder. I close my eyes too, I’m on the verge of falling asleep, when I feel her snuggling close to me. For some reason I feel at peace.
In my dreams I see someone else instead of Pakhi and I do not understand it at all. I’m definitely confused as my life just changed so quickly.
The road becomes a bit bumpy, so all of sudden the car screeches and as a reflex I protect Sai, who woke up because of the sound. We are lost in each other’s eyes for a few seconds. I turn my head to the other side and see Pakhi staring at us with a look that I do not understand and cannot decipher. Her expressive eyes look blank.
She turns away and I ask Sai, “are you alright?”
She nods and tries to fall asleep again but instead she starts sobbing silently.
“What’s wrong Sai?” Pakhi asks her with a tiny bit of concern.
“I’m just so sorry that I tried to kill myself,” Sai looks guiltily at me with her big eyes.
“As your world is shattered apart because your Aaba was and always going to be the most important person in your life. So don’t apologise for that but promise me that you are never going to do that ever again!” I say.
Pakhi looks hurt and her eyes tell me, “wow Virat you know a lot of things about her. You betrayed me!”
I look away from Pakhi. I try to concentrate on how Sunny is trying to make Sai laugh, which she easily does with him.
It hits me hard, because it took a long time to make her smile or even respect me as an individual human being.
As if Gabbar is not human enough for you. My mind rolls its eyes at me.
“Mujhe itna chote chote ankhoon se kyu dekh rahe ho (why are you looking at me with your small, small eyes)?” Sai asks me, bringing me out of my thoughts.
“Huh, sorry, I was lost in my thoughts.”
“That’s okay, but you are creeping me out,” she bats her eyes innocently at me and I cannot stop a smile spreading to my lips. She raises her eyebrows at me.
I can feel Sunny looking at us with a smile that reaches his eyes which I didn’t see when we met Pakhi, he was teasing me in a different way.
“You can sleep if you want to Sai,” I tell her, she nods, turns away and I then say because for some reason it feels right to do, “on my shoulder, if you are comfortable with it!”
I forgot for a moment how close we had been before and I don’t even know if she trusts me or does she still blame me for Kamal Sir’s death? My heart asks while my mind is trying not to explode.
She slowly nods and places her head on my shoulder like I’m her personal cushion. From the corner I can see Sunny grinning.
I close my eyes too and try not to let my head fall on top of hers but it happens anyways.
An hour later I’m shaken awake by Sunny whose eyes are having a gleam of delight, while Usha Mausi is trying to wake Sai up. I shake my head, telling her not to. I unbuckle the seatbelts of us both, get out slowly without waking Sai up, I pick her up in bridal style.
Karishma was awwing us while Mohit gives me the thumbs up alongside Sunny.
As soon as I’m at the door with her, everyone asks me loudly, “who is she? Why are you carrying her?”
I’m about to tell them, when she rubs her eyes in a cute way and asks me, “what happened Virat Sir? Why are you carrying me? You could have woken me up.”
“I know, but you are tired and haven’t eaten for two days, so I don’t mind carrying you,” I take a pause, I look at my family and tell them, “I’d loved to introduce you all to Sai, my wife.”
“How do you know that I’ve not eaten anything?” She asks before anyone else can say anything. I can see that mom and Shivani bua are liking her already.
That’s a good thing so that she does not feel lonely. Mom is going to take good care of her. My mind says as well as my heart agrees to it.
Kaku looks so very disappointed, even Sonali Kaku does too. Mansi bua looks annoyed as her son has gone missing. My Samrat, my Jeeva who I love the most!
Dad and Omi kaka(uncle, father or father-in-laws brother) look annoyed, disappointed and angered. I can feel Sai trying to get out of my hold, I glare at her and she pouts again as she doesn’t want to fight with me.
“Please let me down and I promise I’m going to eat anything you give me, even Karela(bitter gourd).” I laugh as she finishes talking with a cute expression while the rest looks perplexed.
“Sai,” I sigh after calming down, “tum bilkul paagal ho(You are totally crazy, Sai).”
“Kyun, maine kuch galat kaha(Why, have I done something wrong)?” She asks innocently.
“Haan, Karela mention karne ka(Yes, by mentioning bitter gourd).” I make some faces and she giggles.
She is shivering a bit. Everyone’s glaring at her while I ask, “Why didn’t you tell me that you are feeling cold? How careless are you?”
She glares at me and says, “I’m fine.”
“No, you are not!” I say.
“Yes, I am.”
“Nope.” The Rest are getting headaches from our small fight and Kaku yells at us to stop.
“Virat can you please go inside, I’m hungry!” Sunny says.
“Sorry Sunny dada,” Sai says while she pats me to tell me to walk inside, which I’m about to do when mom stops me.
“First we need to welcome the new bride to our home.”
“Mom, can we do that tomorrow, she is not well and needs rest.” I say and mom shakes her head.
“We can’t,” Shivani bua says, “it has to be done or else bad things happen.”
“It’s okay, I’m going to do it,” Sai says reassuringly to me even though I was about to say no.
So I hesitantly put her on the ground.
“Thank you,” she says, I nod and I can see how unstable she is. Yet she will not take any help.
Why are women so stubborn? My mind asks.
My mom welcomes her home as Kaku is not interested at all. Sai does all the rituals, she does it correctly, which stuns most of the family members, I don’t know why and she is about to fall, when I pick her up immediately as I’m standing right beside her.
“I already said, she is not well and you guys didn’t listen!”
“Virat Sir, it’s okay. Traditions have to be respected as well as followed and I don’t want anyone to blame me if anything bad happens to you or your family.” Most of them rolled their eyes, while I was filled with pride as this girl always surprises me.
“But now you need to eat something and then you should be resting.” I softly say to which she nods.

~Pakhi’s POV~
Why Virat, why did you betray me? I can’t see you with another woman and I’m going to make sure that she is going to leave you! My heart cries in sadness and anger.
Calm down heart, let me think of a way to make our wish happen soon. My mind says with a smirk. And with these thoughts I plan Sai’s destruction as she has come in between me and my Virat.
~End of her POV~
