It Ends With Us – Chapter 6
Riddhima adjusted the volume of the stereo and relaxed against the plushness of the seat, trying to hold her pretense. Despite the volume of work that remained at Ahmedabad for her to attend to, she knew she was going to miss Vansh dearly. She sighed, desperately wanting to crib about her work and schedules. She wouldn’t understand why the office couldn’t allow for a junior’s on-site visits.
Riddhima (cracking her knuckles): This is annoying. First of all, they don’t tell me ahead of time that I’ve to go and secondly, I don’t understand why someone else can’t do these visits. I know, as a matter of fact, that online monitoring would do just as fine.
Vansh (chuckling): I’ve never seen you so exasperated, Riddhima. What’s the matter? Do you not want to leave me behind?
Riddhima looked at him with a straight face, her expressions almost turning boring. This man, she’d noted, loved flattering himself. He loved ensuring that the epicenter of her entire existence relied on him, just like he said his was. She shook her head and looked outside the window, trying to stifle the small smile that pulled her lips upward.
Riddhima: I guess so.
Vansh (surprise filtering through his voice): Really? Did you just…
Riddhima turned around and looked at him, a small smile tilting her lips. In the past three months, she’d almost never seen him happier than now. It felt like he’d been awaiting this moment ever since their marriage and a wave of happiness coursed through her, the realization hitting her deep within. Despite how she’d acted since so long and several of their arguments, he’d tried being as patient as possible. He’d been willing to give her the time and space she wanted and needed.
Riddhima (continuing to smile): The trip just feels too long, doesn’t it?
Vansh (chuckling and glancing at her momentarily): If you want, I can accompany you though.
Riddhima (shaking her head): THIS, this is the reason why I don’t tell you things. See, I say just one thing and you’re over the moon. Filminess khatam hi nahi hoti tumhari.
Vansh: Isse mohabbat kehte hain.
Riddhima: Khair, you told you wanted to talk about some good news before I left. What was that?
Vansh: I – um, I’ve a trip too and…
Vansh paused mid-way when his phone rang and the sound echoed within the closed space of the car. He looked at the stereo display and swiped a finger across the screen to accept the call; It was Ishani’s.
Ishani: Hello. Did you drop Bhabhi at the airport?
Vansh: Bhabhi? Since when have you started calling her that?
Ishani: Uh, the other day Mom made a fuss about it and she thought it was against the principles of our house, so.
The tone of her voice lingered in the car – the tension almost agonizing. Ishani knew her brother hated it when their parents talked about principles. She cleared her voice wanting to change the topic, but Vansh had already pulled up his pretense.
Vansh: I think Riddhima feels better being called by her name. Anyway, that’s between you two. She’s here and if you want, you can sort it right now.
Ishani: Oh, you still haven’t dropped her at the airport! I wanted to talk to the two of you, so this is good.
Riddhima turned her attention toward the call and keenly listened to Ishani. She’d talked to Ishani several times before, but their conversations never contained importance; they were just simple conversations between two acquaintances.
Ishani: Did you guys resolve your fight? Please don’t tell me you guys have still not sorted your sh*t out.
When Vansh saw Riddhima turn toward him in the seat, he slammed his forehead and mentally berated Ishani for her loudmouth. Why hadn’t she waited for him to call back? He tapped on the stereo display and disconnected the call, not wanting to continue the conversation any longer.
Riddhima: You told her about our fight?
Vansh: Uh, it was just a slip of tongue. It was not deliberate.
Riddhima: Vansh, this relation is between you and me. I don’t think we need a third person to interfere in between. The two of us can manage it just as fine.
Vansh: I didn’t do it intentionally and Ishani’s not a third person, Riddhima. She’s my sister and my family lies between the two of us too.
Riddhima (looking at Vansh unbelievably): Even if this were Raima, she’d still have been the third person in this relationship. I don’t go around talking about our fights with her or Maa and (inhaling deeply) I literally shared everything with them before our marriage.
Vansh (exhaling harshly): I haven’t stopped you, Riddhima. You can share whatever you want with your sister and I’d really have no problem.
Riddhima: I don’t want to. I don’t want some third person to know about our fights, Vansh. (turning around and sitting up straight) It’s just as simple.
Vansh: How does it matter, Riddhima? Ishani would never, ever come between us. You can trust her on that.
Riddhima (in an exasperated voice): I know. But if YOU don’t stop here, then you’d go around sharing your problems with literally anyone. And no one would leave an opportunity to spoil things between us.
Vansh (clenching his fingers around the wheel): That means, you can’t trust me. You don’t trust me.
Riddhima: What’re you saying? And why? I am just saying that what’s between us, remains between us. I never ask you what’s happening between you and Ishani because that’s your relation and I’m a third person there. I’ve never even asked you what’ve you talked with your friends at lunchtime.
Vansh halted the car at the airport drop-off and looked at her, sighing heavily. His fingers had reddened from clenching the wheel and his eyes had turned red, his expressions turning furious.
Vansh: Even though you can. Have I ever stopped you?
Riddhima: Why aren’t you understanding what I am saying? You’re just taking this entire conversation in an entirely different direction and just want a reason to fight with me just before I leave.
Vansh: You think I’m enjoying this?
Riddhima (sighing deeply): I never said that.
Vansh (trying to mock her): Oh, but you certainly meant that.
Riddhima: I think, I should leave. You do not want me to miss the flight now, do you?
When Riddhima got down the car, Vansh exhaled heavily and tried unlocking but she slammed the door and stared at him squarely, her gaze almost turning piercing. He flinched and looked around, his eyes widening in shock. She’d never behaved this way, but he wasn’t going to tend to her temper this time. She couldn’t be correct all the time and he bl*ody damn knew it.
He was not going to move away from his words.
Riddhima: Don’t trouble yourself. I’ll take the luggage myself.
He saw her push the trolley behind the car and unload the luggage. He berated himself several times, wanting to help her and resolve their issues before she left, but he didn’t. He saw her waving her hand from the corner of his eyes and he nodded his head, acknowledging it. When she walked inside the airport, he drove away, guilt gnawing at his conscience.
Certainly, he could’ve pushed his ego aside.

Who do you think is right here: Riddhima or Vansh?

Amazing episode di!!
I think both were right in their own perspectives, but i guess they shouldn’t have taken it further but i’m sure they will soon patch up. Pls post soon and di do take care of yourself
Amazing
Don’t know
Both seem right on there plaves
Hi Parita, thanks a lot. Yes, the conversation did escalate quite a bit, but I guess this is how it happens when you’re angry, right? There’s a little more until the patch-up, hope you enjoy it nonetheless.
@Mary, thank you. I hope you’d like what’s in store for the next chapter.
Amazing episode plz post next part soon
thanks Ravneet!
Amazing episode dear 😍 loved it ❤️ hope you are fine now 💗
thank you so much. Yes, I’m doing much better now, thanks for asking.
First of all I missed commenting on your ff! Thank God I visited TU when you updated 😌😌
.
I don’t feel most of the time that I am reading an ff. After reading your ff when I close my eye, I can imagine the whole scene going on. Both Vansh and Riddhima are correct in their own places.
.
Riddhima has form a different opinion regarding relationship from her childhood seeing her dad and the thing which has been scripted in her for so many years cannot change in some months or days. She is trying to get along but the still the things she saw in childhood is becoming a hindrance. On the other hand, Vansh is always trying his level best to make Riddhima comfortable. He is trying to sort out the difference but Riddhima is not willing to open up so easily.
.
I feel Vansh did wrong to share with Ishani. Even though Ishani is his sister, I agree with Riddhima that he shouldn’t have shared the thing with her as it was between husband and wife and a third person shouldn’t know about this.
.
Take care of yourself and get well soon ❤️❤️
P.S: Tumi ki Bengali? Ekta Bengali comment dekhe mone holo tumi Bengali 😅 Just asking because of curiosity 😅😅😂😂
I agree with you too. Because it was already decided between them that they will not involve any other person in there matter. And vansh do involve Ishani.
But I am feeling bad for vansh because everyone needs someone to share his or her feelings
Hi TSA, I’ve missed reading from you thoroughly. So glad to hear from you again!
–
Thanks so much, that really means a lot. I don’t think any appreciation can ever be greater than that, thanks a lot.
–
Yes, childhood experiences can scar you really bad. It differs from person to person though; some tend to move-on. However, Riddhima has seen and felt it so closely because she’d been very attached to her father in the initial few years. More to this would be in the coming chapters, but this is a primary reason for her being introverted.
–
That’s right and my opinion too, but we’ve not really seen Vansh clarify his part. Ofc, this situation shouldn’t have even been called for, but like Jayanthi’s said, it might also be because Vansh needed to understand things from a female perspective? We’re going to have this conversation included in the future again; this topic isn’t over just yet, and I hope you can really relate it to then. But Riddhima is on a stronger ground when it comes to just this conversation.
–
I’m doing much, much better now. 🙂
P.S.: Hai, Ami Bengali. Are you one too?
@Aafrin, thanks for reading!
–
Like I was saying, Riddhima does stand on a stronger ground here, but Vansh’s clarifications were never heard. Maybe, Ishani really did help him speak his heart out, but it was a situation uncalled for and could’ve been avoided too. We don’t know that yet.
However, more of this conversation would be continued later to understand things in a more calmer perspective and just hoping, it’d feel just as relatable.
nice
thank you.
Amazing…But I think Riddhima is right
thanks Sristi! That’s my personal opinion too, but I feel for Vansh from the past experiences. I hope you enjoy what’s in store, nonetheless.
Amazing
thanks Aisha!
Hope u r fine…!!! Amazing episode 👍🏻.. I feel vansh correct.. it’s something Riddhima is not understanding.. or even me!!!
It’s just.. like I am not able to say.. he did wrong.. but berating is not good
Hi Aarushi, I’m much better now; thanks for asking.
In my personal opinion, Riddhima is right here but I feel for Vansh from the past experiences. My opinion would be that Vansh’s outburst was pent-up since a lot of time which is kind-of why his ego got in between. Anyhow, I hope you like what’s in store 🙂
Firstly
I feel
You are a foreigner
How do have such a good english
The very next thing, I feel both are right at their places…but I think that I can relate to Riddhima a bit more regarding her views of keeping their fight between them two only
And Vansh is also right in his point of view….but I feel more close to Riddhima.
And please
I really wait for your ff
Please post soon.
Hi Disha, I’m no foreigner lol, but thank you so much!
–
I relate to Riddhima more too, because in a marital relationship, privacy is very important. But I think Vansh has his justifications too and he wasn’t really heard, so there’d be a detailed conversation on this in the coming chapters. Hope you like it and can relate to it too.
–
Sorry for the constant delays, but the next chapter will be out real soon, hope you like it.
👌
thanks.
Fabulous episode
thank you!
Amazing
thanks a lot!

Wow fabulous 😍❤️😍❤️
thank you so much.
Fantastic 😊👏😍❤️😍❤️😍
thank you!
Amazing!! I think Riddhima is right what’s between two people should be their personal matter No matter which relation it is !!
Hi Cutuuu, thank you so much. That’s personally my opinion too and maybe, Vansh would realise that very soon. Hope you like the coming chapters!
Fantastic episode dear…. I love this ff was waiting for you since so long… Please post soon
Hi Niyati, thank you so much. Sorry for not being able to update earlier, the next chapter should be out very soon. 🙂
There are right in everyone’s perspective n take care of urself n the episode was amazing eagerly waiting for next
thanks Angella. This conversation would be carried out in further in one of the next chapters with a more calm and relaxing temper from either of them. I hope you like that and can relate to it 🙂
Awesome
thanks Neetu!
Dear Riaa,
Hope you are feeling better. Both your current FFs are close to my heart as they are written beautifully and the expression and feel of a relationship is so real and loveable.
In this episode, I think Riddhima has definitely progressed to love Vansh but either she does not realise it or she is afraid to confess it as she is not comfortable to allow Vansh to have complete access into her life due to her past experiences, from this aspect I do feel sorry for her. Anyway, tell me Riaa, who will not fall for this Vansh character especially they way you have portrayed him , a caring , loving and thoughtful person :). In fact, I think the argument Riddhima had with Vansh in the car is part of that love as otherwise she would not have bid him adieu before leaving.
As for Vansh, I am glad that he decides to remain angry as it takes 2 hands to clap, Riddhima can’t win all the time. Leaving aside who is right or wrong in this episode, in my opinion, tolerance has its limit and when its crossed, any event transpiring thereafter however correct/justifiable it is, it may become unjustified/ no longer important to the recipient, in this context, Vansh. In fact, Vansh was intending to convey a message to Riddhima in the car, I am unsure whether he could have been frustrated due to it, knowingly or unknowingly, but definitely question on Vansh trustworthiness is a reasonable ground for him to be angry about especially after all the efforts and commitment he had made in the relationship.
As to your question, its a grey area, both have equal justification based on their individual perspective and background. I guess Vansh needed to confide with Ishani to (1) vent out his frustration, (2) to obtain a neutral opinion and (3) to understand Riddhima from a women’s perspective. (as some claim “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus”). I asked myself whether am I biased towards Vansh in stating this but I don’t think so. I can understand Riddhima’s sensitiveness, emotions and whatever she had gone through but its time to let go of the past as otherwise it will spoil her future too, after all both had committed to the marriage and both need to accept the character of the other and not force the other to fully accept the value of one, which I somewhat feel on Riddhima’s end. I think Riddhima concludes a point before seeking clarification. (I gauged this from the earlier episode between them, I guess something to do with the pillow which Vansh bought for her.
Sometimes an opinion of a 3rd party matters as all of us shrouded with a specific opinion and when ego steps in and when we think we are right, it becomes toxic and dangerous in any relationship. It depends on the reason one seek an opinion of a 3rd party opinion i.e. (1) is it because Vansh wanted to understand whether he could have flawed or made an error himself; and (2) a place to vent out his frustration as when bottled up, after a while it may lead to mental illness; but of course it also depends on the sensitiveness of a particular subject matter conveyed to a 3rd party. and with Vansh’s level of maturity, I think he is able to filter the relevant issues before conveying it to Ishani. The conclusion it maybe Riddhima could have clarified it further with Vansh before deciding on his trustworthiness.
Anyway, hopefully, this short separation/vacation will help both in their own way to understand the weakness of the other.
Hi Jayanthi, I am feeling much better now. Thanks for asking.
Thanks so much Jayanthi! I tend to incline toward writing stuff which I can really relate to. Fairy tales are really out of my grasp, so my stories tend to be flawed. I don’t know if that’s the general perception or no, though.
–
For Riddhima, an expression of love doesn’t really seem necessary. Her opinion is that, like she’d said in the previous episode too, that if someone is special for her then they’d understand it via her actions.
Vansh’s character seems too flawless to me, but Vansh’s personality is a little different. He’s not a person who let’s his past engulf himself, instead he tries to ensure that he never makes the mistakes his parents made. Which is probably why, you like Vansh’s character so much because he’s really learning and growing which makes a really big difference I guess.
–
I think Vansh was right on his part to remain angry like you said, but it was more of his ego like the conclusion hints at. Also, Riddhima really did not question Vansh’s trustworthiness. She was just saying that if Vansh continues to talk about their fights so openly then he may not realise when sharing with friends. I don’t know if I couldn’t convey it, but this was what she meant.
–
As for the grey area, I think you’re right. But in my opinion, Riddhima is on a stronger ground if you leave everything else out. I feel like, if Vansh really had to confide, he needn’t have said they really fought. That way, Ishani couldn’t have directly asked them about their fight, but again mistakes are what builds a person. As per Vansh’s character, if he really is wrong, then he will learn from here.
But about Riddhima, she does conclude before the conversation ends. Vansh was trying to clarify his end to her, but she just didn’t listen so that is absolutely correct.
–
Maybe he was able to filter out, you know? Or maybe he wasn’t, but we don’t yet know that because he didn’t get a chance to clarify. Albeit, he could’ve shared it as just a thought like I said before too.
–
I’ve had so much fun writing the next chapter and I honestly can’t wait to see how you all feel about it. I’m equally excited to write chapter 8, so let’s see how it’s perceived over-all.
–
Also, please never say sorry for a long comment. I really love reading the deep and thoughtful insights. Sometimes, they allow me to see things in a different perspective and I really appreciate them. Thanks for taking the time and expressing it all, it definitely shed a different light. 🙂
Hi Riaa,
I am sorry, I just realised my comments is too long after posting it. I just wrote what I had in mind without scrolling the number of characters 🙁 My apologies.
Hi Riaa,
First of all I really hope you are feeling much better now. I’m sure the updates and rest of the likes can wait, but you need to focus on your health first.
.
Ok, I love how Riddhima is gradually getting drawn to Vansh and little by little is even learning to admit her feelings for him. Don’t know why, but I really felt bad for Vansh in the beginning. Like even a small line that “I’ll miss you” made him feel so happy. It’s almost like he never recieved any direct compliments or affection from her.
.
Also whatever happened, I’m more on Riddhima’s side. Because if my better half ever told his family about the problems between us, I’d react in a similar way. Just like Riddhima, even I have a similar mindset about never disclosing the problems to a 3rd person. Once or twice, my mother had said something along the similar lines to my Maasi, and I had got very angry upon her.
.
I’m glad that in this story, it was Vansh who shared his problems with a 3rd person. Because in ZGH, it was Kashaf who did that which seemed so out of character for her. Moreover, she sharing it with her Professor instead of with her family, also did not make much sense.
.
Also, don’t mind me asking but are you Bengali? It’s good to see quite a few Bengalis on this site you know.
Hi Nia, I’m doing much better now. Thanks for asking!
–
Yes, those lines were really to depict that. I’m trying to create a balance between the character now because it’s been a while and there are times, he needs affirmations from her too. He knows she respects him and probably, loves him too, but just being able to hear is a different kind of satisfaction, I guess.
You’d see a little more of this in the next chapter too 🙂
–
You’re right. Riddhima stands on a much stronger ground when it comes to this particular conversation and regardless of what had happened, it is wrong on Vansh’s part. In my opinion, it’d have made more sense if Vansh had told Ishani that this wasn’t about their fight, but just something he was thinking about? Then, regardless of her understanding or no, she wouldn’t have been able to ask if their fight was resolved or no directly. This is a maybe, of course.
Also, it really is very annoying when someone does it like Vansh did which is why this wouldn’t be the end of this conversation. This is going to be carried over to a coming chapter wherein they’d talk about this with a calm temperament. I hope you like it and can relate to them just as much.
–
I feel some parts of ZGH towards the end didn’t really fit well with their over-all characterizations. Like, Kashaf sharing about their fight with the professor. I’ve felt several times that it’d have made more sense if Zaroon had shared rather, because we’ve seen him share before. Or like the time when they were talking about men and women’s equality at a restaurant? I’d a feeling that Kashaf had more liberal thoughts before marriage which they hadn’t really portrayed via her dialogues. That’s my perception, ofc it could differ from person to person.
–
I am a Bengali. Are you too?
Hi Riaa. Superb episode. I enjoyed it through and through. As for your question, I personally agree with Riddhima (because I’d also react the same way). However, I beleive that once in a while, one has to share some matters with people they trust in order to get reliable advice and support. Due to these clashing perspectives, I’ll stay on the fence. That said, what Ishani did wasn’t right according to me. Once more, awesome episode.
Hi Sahada, so good to have you back!
–
Thank you so much, I’m so glad you liked the episode! Like I’ve been saying, Riddhima is on a much stronger ground when it comes to this conversation alone, but Vansh has his own story which we haven’t gotten to, yet. That’d definitely be included in the coming chapters.
As for Ishani, you’re right. There have been several times where Riddhima’s talked about their relation and Ishani and her are really not that close, which could also be why her words were perceived differently. She’d no bad intention, though.
–
Once more, thank you!
