Ajay Chaudhary who is known for his role in Tenali Rama is a regular visitor to Lucknow. He was in the city before the lockdown and in an interview with BT he shares the experience, “I have been to Lucknow several times before too in the past but never had I got a chance to see the place. However, before the lockdown, I was in Lucknow and this time I went around the city and saw places which I had earlier only heard of, like the Bada and the Chhota Imambara,” The actor also went to Agra, before going back to Mumbai. “For the first time I saw the Taj Mahal, though I had seen the other wonders of the world. But see the irony, I had not seen the Taj Mahal only. But now I have seen it and it was beautiful. I also ate the famous petha of Agra. When I visited the Taj Mahal, I was really curious about its history though we have studied the basic one in our schools. So I also got to know a lot of facts about the place which were earlier unknown to me.”
When asked about the pay cuts and if he also faced the same issues, he shares, “Money has never been my focus while taking up the project. Definitely, people are using pandemic as an excuse to pay less to actors but for me, the role has always been the focal point. As of now, I am caught up with projects on the OTT platform so I haven’t taken up any projects on television. Having said that, I would love to be part of shows with seasons on television.”
Talking about his experience of shooting for the comedy show Tenali Rama, he shares. “Shooting for Tenali Rama was kind of a breather for me as it was a comedy show and the genre was really a different one for me. I played a negative character Pralyankar which was comic in nature and I loved being a part of a show like Tenali Rama.”
