Actor Mohan Bhandari’s son Dhruv Bhandari who was last seen in the show Tere Sheher Mein (2015) is all set to return to the small screen after a gap of seven years. Dhruv was busy dabbling in other mediums of entertainment during this long break.
The actor talked about it during a recent interview and shared, “We know how consuming and demanding a daily soap can get. Besides, I give every project my all and hence a break in between shows is much needed. I make it a point to dabble in other verticals of art, be it writing or theatre. The new show is different from all the offers that came my way in recent times. It is not a typical saas-bahu drama. It is interesting and challenging. All I can at this point is that I will be seen in a uniform (smiles).”
He added, “Post my last TV show, I was busy with a play and was touring for it for almost a year-and-a-half. I got married as well and became a father two years ago. I wanted to spend time with my family and was also working towards setting up a production house. During the lockdown, I started getting offers for TV shows again and I realized that it was about time I returned to my love – television.”
Dhruv also admitted that staying away from television, which is a constant source of income, was a difficult choice. “Of course, it was not easy at all. The money offered on another medium is always lesser, comparatively. Fortunately, I had my family’s support and I had been working all along. I have also made some wise investments, which kept me going. It was a bit of compromise on the financial front, but sometimes you need to focus on other aspects, too, for wholesome growth.”
Talking about his character, the actor shared, “I was still apprehensive about returning to TV, as I was busy with other things. But something clicked and I guess it was a way of dad (the late actor Mohan Bhandari) telling me that I should take it up. The audience will see glimpses of my father in the character I play in my new show. He played something similar in one of his shows. I guess that’s one of the primary reasons why I took it up.”
Talking about his bond with his father, he said, “Every time I see my daughter, I wish that dad would have been able to play with her because he loved kids. So, it hurts me more but there is a part of me that believes he is back as my daughter. Jhalak dikh jaati hai. Professionally, dad and I bonded strongly over our love for acting, which will never cease to exist.”
