IT has been almost 9 years since Bigg Boss 7 witnessed an ugly fight between Armaan Kohli and Sofia Hayat where Bollywood actor Armaan Kohli physically assaulted Sofia Hayat. In the December of 2013 Armaan was arrested by Lonavala police for allegedly assaulting Sofia.
Now, Sofia Hayat recently received a notice from the police that the court has decided to reopen the case. Sofia talked about it during an interview with ETimes TV and shared, “The case is getting reopened after eight years. They are now going back to court. They want to know if I want to continue with the case. It is crazy because they had got everything, the video footage from Bigg Boss but nothing happened. Salman Khan got Armaan Kohli bailed out at that time. But they had the video footage to arrest him and now they want to know if I want to continue with the case which I want to do. So now the case is going to reopen in Mumbai. The truth is never stressful for me. I’ve forgiven him but I still think that an example needs to be made, he has apologized to me and he did say sorry to me. But everyone needs to know clearly that you can’t hit a woman. It has to continue until the law itself in India does something to change the fact that it’s not ok to hit a woman. I hope they put some strict laws against violence against women regardless of whether it’s a celebrity or not.”
Talking about the possibility of her coming to India, Sofia said, “I was contacted by the Maharashtra police, the police who took my witness statement back when the incident happened in 2014. I was contacted by them that there is a court date that I should be present. Now, because I am in London, I may or may not come to India for the case. I am thinking about possibly coming to India but if not they would take the phone or video evidence to see if this case should continue. I am actually shocked that it’s still taking so long for any sort of conclusion, but obviously, because Salman Khan got involved.”
