After a run of 10 months, the makers of the show Sirf Tum has decided to pull the plug on the show. The show is expected to go off-air on September 16. Actress Sonya Saamoor, who essayed the role of Riya Kapoor in the show reacted to the news during a recent interview with BT and shared, “I’m glad that the show is ending on a good note. It was foreseen and something that was bound to happen. However, during my journey on the show, I made two amazing friends in Eisha Singh and Puneet Chouksey.”
Sonya feels that the show lacking a strong storyline led to its fall. She said, “I have a lot to say but I don’t want to answer phone calls and reply to awkward messages all day. People think that if they cast a star or someone with a huge social media following, the show will be a success. They are so deluded. It doesn’t work like that. Today, content is king. If your story is powerful and your script is crisp, your show will be a hit even if you cast an unknown face or a forgotten actor. We have witnessed that on TV recently.”
She added, “I feel that the storyline could have been better but that’s not my job to look into it. I’m an actor. I will do what the script demands me to do. In TV shows, stories don’t shape up the way they are narrated. A story is changed overnight on the basis of the audience’s feedback. But even after changing the story of Sirf Tum, it failed to impress the audience.”
