Amandeep Sidhu on Chashni wrapping up in just a couple of months; says, “The time slot did not work for us”
TV show Chashni which was aired in March is wrapping up in just two-and-a-half months. The show is slated to go off-air on May 29. The lead actress Amandeep Sidhu, who essayed the role of Chandni in the show is pretty upset about the show wrapping up in such a short time.
During a recent interview, Amandeep talked about it and shared, “It was my first show on the channel and I was looking forward to it because the concept was different. The promos had created a buzz but I feel that the 11 pm time slot did not work for us. People are not in the mood to watch a TV show after 11 pm. Also, the IPL season began and viewers got hooked on watching cricket matches.”
She added, “In the promos, it was constantly shown how I become the bahu and my younger sister becomes the saas. But when the show started, the first few episodes went in showing me as a firefighter. It seemed like the audience wanted to watch the sisters fighting rather than watching a single woman living a life of a firefighter. It took almost a month for the makers to bring in the track of saas-bahu sisters and till then the viewers had gone. So obviously, there were some mistakes at the creative and script level. I had high hopes for this show, but it is okay, one has to move on. I am surprised that the show was not given a new time slot, too. Had this show aired in a prime time slot, it would have done well.”
Along with Amandeep, Chashni also starred Amandeep Sidhu, Srishti Singh, and Sai Ketan Rao in pivotal roles. Titli will replace Chashni on May 29.
