Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai star Pragati Mehra, also known as Mahima, is known for dealing with trolls in a strong and confident manner. Recently, she once again called out a troll who made a hateful comment about her co-star Jay Soni and tagged Mehra in mean direct messages.
Pragati was going through her Instagram messages when she discovered a series of hateful messages. She took to her Instagram to address the issue, saying, “Today, I decided to go through my DMs as it’s not easy to check them every day. I found unseen tags on stories filled with hate, disguised as hate for a character. I deleted many of those stories that were posted… at the end of the day, it’s your page and understanding. I can’t control that, even if it’s twisted. However, I came across an unnecessary comment about a colleague on a story I posted, and I felt compelled to respond to make fans understand. There is a difference between the actor – the real person, and the character – the fictional role. If you don’t understand that, it shows your ignorance. I’m using words like ‘daft’ because it’s foolish.”
She went on to explain, “As fans, you have the right to like/love/hate a character… but when fans can’t distinguish between the actor and the character, it’s disheartening. You may dislike a character, but hating an actor and making personal comments is unnecessary. Harshad is a nice guy, and so is Jay. Both are equally friendly and well-mannered. The audience and fans don’t know them personally. They know them as Abhimanyu and Abhinav – and that’s fiction. So, all I can say is, don’t get confused and mistake fiction for reality!”
Mehra concluded by stating, “I could have blurred the name of the fan page or handle, but I wanted to showcase the foolishness and venom that some people spill for no reason at all! (And why tag me!!) Why? Am I either of them? You and everyone else do this for attention and engagement, so here I give you attention for your unnecessary cruelty. My friends, unfortunately, it says a lot about you, but fortunately, very little about the other person. This won’t earn you any brownie points, not even from the person you claim to love.”
