Rahul Yadav, aged 32, one of the five individuals arrested for allegedly trafficking snake venom at parties, has been granted an additional day of remand for further questioning, as confirmed by the police on Thursday.
Earlier this week, law enforcement discovered a diary at Rahul’s residence containing entries referencing at least six locations in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Faridabad. These entries, suspected by the police, indicate places where snake venom might have been supplied as a substitute for opioids during parties.
The police assert that Rahul’s interrogation is crucial to establishing the involvement of YouTuber and reality TV star Elvish Yadav, among others, in the case. Elvish is one of six individuals, including Rahul Yadav, Teetunath (45), Jaikaran (50), Narayan (50), and Ravinath (45), all residents of Delhi’s Badarpur, who were arrested on November 2. Elvish was questioned last week after being accused by BJP MP Maneka Gandhi’s NGO People for Animals (PFA) of supplying snake venom at parties.
An investigating officer explained, “During Rahul’s previous remand, we recovered a diary from his residence containing a list of party locations and contact numbers of individuals suspected of organizing these events. Extending Rahul’s remand aims to question him further and uncover the extent of Elvish’s involvement.”
Rahul is believed to play a pivotal role as a connection between the alleged nexus and several celebrities.
In the complaint filed by PFA, it is stated that they posed as organizers of a rave party, soliciting snake poison from the YouTuber at a banquet hall in Sector 51. Elvish allegedly directed them to Rahul, who, along with four snake charmers, was apprehended outside the banquet hall. The authorities recovered a vial containing 20ml of liquid, believed to be venom, and nine snakes, including five cobras and a python.
Elvish, responding to the allegations in a video posted on X, refuted claims that he supplied snake venom.
