Actress Anshu Varshney, currently portraying Gurleen in the romantic drama ‘Teri Meri Doriyaann,’ clarifies misconceptions about her character taking a negative turn. The storyline unfolds a twist as Gurleen discovers her son Veer Singh Brar (Jatin Arora) is in love with Keerat (Prachi Hada), the sister of protagonist Sahiba (Himanshi Parashar).
Anshu sheds light on Gurleen’s character evolution, stating, “The audience has known Gurleen as a kind and sweet lady, dealing with family chaos patiently. However, this time, she is disturbed to witness her son Veer in pain because of Keerat, leading to an outburst of anger.”
Addressing concerns about her character turning grey, Anshu emphasizes, “I believe my role isn’t turning negative but is responding to the situation. No mother can bear to see her child in pain. As Keerat is portrayed as a tomboy, it’s natural for a mother to desire a suitable partner for her son. There’s no switch in my character; there’s a switch in the situation.”
Anshu, who embarked on her showbiz journey as a model and was a runner-up in the 2018 beauty pageant Mrs. India Queen, expresses her openness to diverse roles. She made her mark in Bollywood with a role in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ (2023).
Despite her current positive role, Anshu affirms her willingness to undergo character transformations, stating, “Although my present role aligns with my positive and soft-spoken nature, as an actor, I am open to change. If the makers plan a transformation in my role, I am absolutely fine with it. I aspire to play varied roles and keep my fans entertained.”
Anshu’s versatility extends to her previous roles in TV shows like ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’ (2019) and ‘Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala’ (2018), along with her involvement in the 2020 web series ‘Mentalhood.’ Her journey in ‘Teri Meri Doriyaann’ showcases a dynamic portrayal, reflecting her dedication to bringing depth and authenticity to her characters.
