Hi friends, this is my first article and it’s not exactly an episode analysis but more of an analysis of TV serials in general. I hope it’s alright.
Anyway I’ve been noticing that on some channels (for an example MTV) the content is getting bolder with kisses on the mouth (even french kissing) and other forms of affection being shown between couples. Now maybe I’m just old fashioned but I would rather that our TV shows does not go in that direction and become like Western serials and films. I would like to continue being able to watch TV shows with my mother or grandmother or even grandfather without feeling shame faced or awkward. Of course I think that serials can depict things other than saas bahu drama but I don’t think there is the need to show kissing scenes etc because the story can be told (and told beautifully and clearly) without showing such things. Romance can be shown without the kissing and s*x scenes. I think that even if India becomes modern we should still retain good practices and manners in our culture. One should not confuse becoming modern with becoming westernised. For an example one can be quite modern and have a modern outlook even if they wear salwar kameez or have an arranged marriage. Take Japan or even Korea as an example. These countries are quite developed and doing well but they still have their culture and haven’t forsaken or forgotten the good practices and manners of their ancestors. If you watch Korean shows you will notice that they tell their love stories in their own style and doesn’t try to imitate what’s shown in American or Western shows. There shows are also quite innocent just like our shows are now. I hope that out TV shows can also be innocent and romantic without becoming vulgar and cheap. Some people say it’s to make it more realistic but there are classier ways to show realistic scenes without being so obvious and showing scenes like that. What do you think friends? Do you agree with me? Or do you think I’m too old fashioned?
PS: I’m wouldn’t call myself old fashioned. I just think that there is a limit to everything.
Oh and thank you for reading and please comment and share your thoughts.

I am totally agree with you.there should be a limit for everything.i am glad that some peoples have thoughts to reduce this boldness.
Thanks for reading my article and replying. It’s lovely that you took the time to do this.
I agree with you meeti, if serials too become bolder i dont think there would be much diff between serials n movies. . N acc to me mild doses of romance, in serials, that beautiful intense eyelocks are far better than smooching scenes which only leaves us in embarrassing situation.
Thank you for the reply. I totally agree with you that, the eye locks and cute little romantic moments are far more satisfying than full on smooching and groping. I feel like that the cute little romantic scenes show love whereas the other kind of scenes only show lust and for me love is what I want to see.
i agree with u having such scences can’t say that its boldness blodness means different such scences only make us feel embracing if such scences r inculded then their would be no diffrence btw indian and western culture. Indian tradition has its own beauty no one has right to spoil that…………….
agree completely……. glad that there are some who still value the Indian culture………..
Totally agree with u dear meeti. ……..if serial become bold then no one able to watch with there family. …….tradition of India has an own beauty
I think d only thing in which india has remained unbeatable forever is culture..hence we shouldn’t even let this crown go off frm d head…right????
absolutely right meeti I agree with you.
Absolutely right meeti! I totally agree with your opinion
I agree with you yaar..Because of such kind of scenes if our parents are sitting with us.then it will be very much awkward for us..
U r so damn ryt…. mordenaisation can be done while sticking to the main roots of culture… indian culture is beautiful …..sober as well as mordenaised…
I completely agree with you…It really needs a change as romantic dramas do have more craze in our country, we should think out of the box.
sorry….but i disagree….dnt know the reason…
I don’t mind people disagreeing as everyone has different opinions and values but we can only have a discussion about a problem or an issue if you cite your reasons along with your stance. I don’t mean to target you. I say this about everything in general. If you can think of a reason please share with us.
i agree…but that is mtv…i watch star plus, zee tv and colors with my grandmom everyday…these channels are not very bold…i mean to say we like eyelocks more than all the….which mtv shows. india has its own culture and these writers are forgetting all that and showing scenes which are most common in united states and all…it is an indian channel so it is supposed to show indian culture…all the romance being show can be just replaced with intense eyelocks… people who watch are satisfied and nothing very bold is telecasted…children watch these shows…for gods sake writers please put in an effort to reduce the boldness…
It’s only MTV now but I’m afraid that other channels might start following their example. If course they will only do so if their viewers would also like to see such things and that’s why I posted here to get an idea of what you guys ,the viewer’s, think. Hehe. Have a lovely day Payal dear
ha…i agree…writers ko poll karna chahiye ki hume aisi scenes achhe lagte hain ya nahin…
A big thank you to everyone who has read and commented on this article. I’m sorry I cannot reply to all you lovely people individually because I’m a little busy these days but just know that I appreciate you all. Bless…
i don’t think so guys i know there’s a limit but actually its not such a big issue.
maybe coz i watch western serials more and i don’t feel it awkward, and yeah i get such scenes one cant watch in front of parents but then its just an expression of love…the passion that they actually want to put on…moreover most of us feel it going on with a very slow track and then we complain that there isn’t any masala or all the stuff u call it….this hypocritical behavior lead us nowhere….well that’s what i think and i know i wont go with the flow…i dont find it ‘out of limit’…its just that since its not so common most of us are not able to take it…but life changes and so does the world..if one cant then u can only call it the incapability…
no intentions to hurt u guys just that i feel this way
agree with u, tvshows covers all from you young to elder. so thy shld be careful in telecasting. can be modern but not bad.
