I’ve been away from this site for a long time, but after watching this episode, I just had to pen down my thoughts for this amazing show! it should be practically illegal to be so awesome for Avneil! honestly, the way this show and its characters get away with doing such big things so effortlessly is downright unbelievable and totally happening for me! I wasn’t exactly holding my breath on Neil sharing his story with Avni so soon, but he did and how at that! the way this show tells its story, revealing each facet like opening gifts… I already knew that both Avni and Neil are unique and special, but this episode just reminded me how even in real life, we often make things complicated by not talking stuff out and clearing the air as soon as possible. if we did so too, maybe it wouldn’t be so difficult to be happy as we think in life.
however, naamkarann has a track record of emphasizing the differences between our protagonists even at times when they are together. for example, all through today’s episode, Avni’s thoughts clashed with Neil’s. even in the beginning, Avni lied about where she had been, whereas Neil told her his story (finally!) that he never did before (well, he did that once at Holi, but since neither of them remembers, let’s forget that too). as to the events that followed after Juhi’s disappearance, Neil’s and Avni’s ideals clashed again, but they understood each other instead of judging and finding faults with the other person. this kind of respect and equality is rarely seen on Indian television and I’m so glad to have a hero I can root for and a heroine to die for after a long long time!
About Neil and his cases, I love him most when he’s out there on the field and actually working. I don’t know why, but even more than listening to him talk, I like it when he puts his words into action and instead of telling us how a good and responsible person lives, he shows us that! also, that makes him a little more real, unlike business tycoons who only pick up their phone when they need to show they do have some work to do or go to their offices only when they need to disappear from a particular scene (looking at you, Shivaay)! for me, Neil is too good to be true and very real at the same time, and all the credit goes to Zain Imam’s consistently stellar performance! I’m completely aware of the fact that I’m in love with his smile, his expressions, his characters (all of them, including the dark Yuvi) and everything else that has anything to do with him! (Side note- Zain slays in black!) But I’m sure, he gained a huge fan following after naamkarann too, simply because of the character he plays.
Let’s also talk about others in the show who are not exactly receiving a lot of love for the characters they portray onscreen. It was nice to get a break from Shweta and Rhea for once although I think Bebe and Neela Ma are enough to handle them. Dayawanti and her stupid grandson’s plans are as obscure as ever! I never know what they want except that they hate Avni for some weird reason that has something to do with Aisha and Ashish Mehta when both of them are dead. Amol’s motives for being on Dayawanti’s side are still unclear and frankly, I hope Neil finds out about him before Avni to save her some more heartache. As for Pandit, she’s a whole different level of psycho by herself! there’s something weirdly creepy about the way her expressions change from chilling smiles to roaring exclamations of anger! I wonder how Juhi survived in her captivation for so many years, but looking at the girl who smiled when asked to and danced when told to like a puppet in the Pandit’s hands, I could almost see how the vibrant and energetic righteous girl whom Neil described had lost sight of the right and wrong while focusing solely on making it through each day in the company of such monsters who would not stop at anything to get whatever it is they want- be it power or money or whatever view of sanskar and culture they hold! for me, Dayawanti and Pandit are not too different from each other in character, but they do have different resources and thought processes in terms of plotting. however, they represent the same thing on different levels- Dayawanti is the evil which lives with us in our homes and attempts to drive out the good wherever she lives to be recognized and acknowledged as the supreme court for all those whose lives she controls, like Rhea and Amol; Pandit is the evil which lives in our city/country and threatens the safety as well as the righteousness of those who are courageous enough to stand against any kind of wrong, like Juhi. Dayawanti’s strength is her manipulative way of talking and it takes a genius brain (like Neil) or a clear view of her ugly true side (Avni) to not get trapped in her smooth talking, something that even the Pandit couldn’t escape! the Pandit’s strength is her money, even if it is illegal money! she either buys people directly or buys the people who can suppress others. both of them prey on the human greed and selfishness for their own greed and selfishness! and it’s not at all easy to determine who is the more dangerous one of the two. but the important thing is that both of them need to be removed from society so that they can’t harm others. Neil might be a brave and intelligent cop, but he cannot always swoop in to protect innocent girls like at the Dhaba or survive bomb blasts like at Janmashtami. Avni cannot always come across a poor girl being mistreated by a guy and go after her to save her either. And if this dynamic duo goes after such criminals on their own, I’m afraid they might get hurt themselves, physically and/or emotionally. As Neil is Avni’s strength, Avni is also Neil’s strength and it would do everyone a fat lot of good to let them be together and help the ones in need. And while they are at it, can they please go back to their own place for a little while more and get all cozy on the couch or funny on the bed with no one planting photos of ex-girlfriends in their room? And Avni’s ten days are not up yet, are they? oh, I can’t wait for the story to move forward with their cuteness instead of all the dark things of various intensities surrounding them! for instance, just how sweet was it when Neil called her a thief again and Avni just gave up arguing with the cop, only to call herself unique later on! just make the villains disappear already and let the bunnies play, please Show?
