Chapter-30

A blow

Ishanya reached her flat smiling lost in her thoughts about Omkara. Once she entered inside she ran towards the kitchen’s window to see Omkara driving away. She smiled seeing him returning and then came towards the hall and removed her scarf keeping it on the sofa and sat next to it lost in thoughts.

She took off her bangles and placed them on the table infront of the sofa thinking about the day. She tied her hair in a messy bun feeling tired. She closed her eyes leaning back on the sofa.
She heard Omkara’s voice in her ears saying,

“You are my friend, even if you don’t think of me as one.”

“Give respect to woman or else you will have to face so much more.”

“How can I not react when he was talking rubbish about you, Ishanya?”

“I can’t tolerate this type of nonsense with you.”

“I’ll react the same way to everyone who doesn’t respect you.”

Ishanya opened her eyes in a start and thought, ‘why am I thinking about him?’ she tried to ignore his thoughts but she remembered each and every word he said. ‘He respects woman He respects ME.’ She thought and remembered Omkara saying that he regards her as his friend. His words are ringing in her ears.

“You are my friend, even if you don’t think of me as one.”

‘He regards me as his friend, and I…..I was thinking so much to accept him as my friend!! I am such an idiot, for being scared to get hurt by him. He respects woman and don’t like anyone talking nonsense about me.’ She thought and smiled remembering his anger when the police talked nonsense about them.
She liked it a lot. ‘For the first time someone had fought for her respect.’ She thought. It’s a huge thing for her. After her father’s death there was no one to protect her, fight for her or care for her.

But today she saw these traits in Omkara. She should feel upset for this and warn Omkara to not do anything for her minding his own business. But surprisingly, she hadn’t done anything of it and instead feeling good that he is caring for her.

To be honest she should be scared to not get used to his care but she is feeling happy ignoring and forgetting her insecurities. Omkara did that magic on her.

Now that she is remembering every moment she spent with him. She is surprised to remember that she hadn’t flinched when Omkara held her hand while playing blind-fold.

Usually whenever someone touches her suddenly she flinches or slaps the person in a reflex like she did with Rudra. But nothing of the sort happened with Omkara infact she hadn’t even remembered it till now she forgot it like it is something very usual which is not in reality.

She is glad that today she tolerated someone’s sudden touch not only tolerated it but felt it completely normal which was not the case from few years after that incident. She smiled at it and took it as an achievement, another step away from her past by moving on.

She was lost in thoughts while her mobile phone rang, it was an international call saying that her designs got selected for the Lakme Fashion week in Paris.

After finishing the call Ishanya stood up and clapped like a small girl saying, “I got selected!!” She twirled in her happiness.

‘I got so much happiness in a day. It’s very rare for me, I just hope nothing bad happens now.’ She thought closing her eyes trying to handle her happiness.

She slept there only, as she got tired. After many days, Ishanya slept peacefully without any night mares.

Early morning at Oberoi Mansion. O’bros were as usual in kitchen making breakfast. Today they are preparing for the special lunch too as Shivaay invited his friend for lunch which is Ishanya but the other two O’bros doesn’t know about it.

“I am very excited to meet your friend, bhaiyya.” Rudra said cheerfully while ShivOm just smiled at his childishness.

“Don’t get so excited Rudra, you don’t know how she will behave with you.” Shivaay replied to him doing his work.

“What do you mean bhaiyya? She is your friend, so she’ll be friendly with me too, right? Rudra asked in confusion.

“I can’t promise you that.” Shivaay replied thinking about Ishanya’s introvert nature in the beginning with him.

“But why?” Rudra asked and before Shivaay could reply Omkara replied, “Rudra, it’s not mandatory that Shivaay’s friends will be your friends too and vice-versa.”

“Look at tia only, she is Shivaay’s fiancé but does she behave friendly with you and you too doesn’t like her at all, right!” Omkara said explaining him but Shivaay got offended that Omkara again taunting him for agreeing to marry for business.

“Omkara, what is the need to bring tia in this topic? Why do you always wait for a reason to bring tia’s topic to taunt me?” He asked in anger.

“You are misunderstanding Shivaay, I am not taunting or anything. I am just explaining Rudra.” Omkara said calmly.

“Please bhaiyya, O, don’t fight on this now. We are losing our O’bro moment. Please concentrate on the cooking.” Rudra requested them before Shivaay could reply and seeing Rudra’s face they hadn’t talked about that topic again but there is some awkwardness between them.

After break-fast they all went to their destinations but promised to be back in a couple of hours to help Shivaay in making lunch.

Ishanya woke up to the phone call of Nandita who asked her to see the news channel in TV. Ishanya clumsily switched the TV on but to her shock there is some news airing about her.

Ishanya got shocked and increased the volume to hear the news carefully, “Today’s breaking news is that Hindustani Fashion house’s MD. Ms. Ishanya Srinivas is alleged to running a s*x racket. There is proof of this. The racket which got busted recently in Hotel palace is now under her, she is operating the racket in the name of Orphanage.”

“Women’s NGO’s Head Mrs. Juhi Atreya is pressurizing the police department to take charges against Ms. Ishanya Srinivas.”

“We are here outside the police control room where the Women are protesting against Ms. Ishanya Srinivas and police for not taking any charges against her.”

“The police had been denying talking to us till the ACP Kulkarni arrives, who is in Pune, right now helping Pune police in a case.”

“Is this a deal between police and Ms. Srinivas? Had she bribed the police? Why is she doing this dirty business when she have good earning fashion house? Or else is this the secret which made her fashion house success? Does she uses these girls to get business deals?…………..”

That’s it!! Ishanya couldn’t take it anymore and switched off the TV. Tears started to form in her eyes and then she began sobbing ignoring her ringing phone.

‘It is like this only, whatever I do, the media makes it bad. I should have known yesterday only, when I was getting so much happiness, I should have remembered that it is a hint that I am going to face problems soon as my destiny doesn’t allow me to stay happy.’ She thought to herself.

She absent mindedly, picked her phone thinking it to be Nandita, but to her shock it is Harshvardhan’s.

“Hello!” She said to the phone.

“Hello, my darling. How are you?” He asked in his vice like voice. Hearing it Ishanya got shocked and couldn’t reply anything.

“Let me guess, you must be crying sitting somewhere seeing the news, right?” He asked making her more shocked.

“What did you thought? If you try to destroy me, I’ll sit idle and let you do whatever you want? I am Harshvardhan Rana, had you forgot what I did to you and your father in court? You made mistake by messing with me again.” He seethed in anger warning her.

This made Ishanya too angry and determined. She answered him back, “Time has changed Rana. Now you can’t harm me in anyway. You said you’ll air my fake MMS if I didn’t come to your farm house, but what happened? You couldn’t air it, right!!”

“Yes, but now what will you do? I again tarnished your reputation. I was Ok with that MMS thing. What was the need to get me fired from Oberoi’s? So, I too bounced back, dear. Now what will you do?” He asked in fake concerned voice.

“It’s none of your business Rana. You know what I don’t care anymore what society thinks about me or what media says about me. So you can’t harm me in any way, Rana. Get lost!!” She said with confidence and finished the call and switched it off before throwing it away on the sofa.
