Actress Niju Machhan gained widespread acclaim for her exceptional acting skills in the popular TV series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Originating from Shimla, her journey in the entertainment industry began in 2011. Despite playing lead roles in various Doordarshan shows, an unexpected turn of events in 2017 compelled Niju to take a hiatus from acting. However, after a six-year break, she recently made a triumphant return to the small screen with Kundali Bhagya.
Reflecting on her hiatus, Niju shares, “Yes, I had to take a break from work for six years. In 2017, due to certain health issues, I returned to my hometown, Shimla, and stepped away from acting. My primary focus was on my health, so I made the decision to abstain from work for a few years. During this industry break, I embraced motherhood, got married, and now have a beautiful daughter. With the unwavering support of my family, I made the decision to return to acting and began auditioning. It wasn’t an easy journey to re-enter the industry, but as they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Gradually, things fell into place, and here I am.”
Niju, portraying the character of Gurpreet in Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya, expresses her joy, stating, “I am incredibly happy to have the opportunity to make a comeback with one of the most popular shows on television. I have worked diligently to etch my character into the hearts of the audience, and the positive reviews are overwhelming. Facing the camera is my dopamine, and returning to this wonderful show brings a different kind of happiness. While being in front of the camera feels like home, stepping out of my comfort zone, leaving my baby at home, and returning to the set wasn’t an easy decision.”
In addition to her role in Kundali Bhagya, Niju has also played lead roles in multiple Doordarshan shows, including Mumtaaz Mahel, Kahani Meri Maati Ki, Saahiba Mirza, Munidhaar, Tum Bin Jiya Jaye Na, and many more, showcasing her versatility and talent in the industry.
