Tv show Fanaa – Ishq Mein Marjawan is all set to go off-air on August 5 after completing a run of seven months. The show will be replaced by Nima Denzongpa and is expected to move to the OTT platform of the channel.
Actor Akshit Sukhija, who essays the role of Dr Ishaan Tandon in the show talked about it during a recent interview with BT and shared, “I have no idea about the future of the show, but I am not going to be a part of it anymore. I am done with the show and will be wrapping up my track in three days. There is no scope for my character to grow in the upcoming storyline.”
Akshit’s track in the show didn’t pan out the way the makers had narrated it to him. Talking about it, he shared, “My track didn’t unfold the way I had envisioned and my character didn’t get the importance I had expected. I had great expectations from my character in Fanaa: Ishq Mein Marjawan but I didn’t get my due as an actor. My track was put on hold for almost 40 episodes in between. I even thought of quitting the show midway, as I had nothing much to contribute. However, my producers convinced me to stay put by turning my character negative. I was quite excited about the proposal and waited for over a month for Ishaan to be reintroduced in a mean avatar but sadly what was promised to me in terms of the graph of my character couldn’t be executed.”
He added, “When my track was on hold, I figured that Fanaa was more about Pakhi (Reem Shaikh) and Agastya (Zain Imam) and not about Ishaan. He was always the third wheel. Now, that’s something I didn’t know in the beginning. However, I hoped things would change for the better, which didn’t happen. To make the situation worse, just when my character was getting some importance in the storyline, my track is concluding in 10-15 episodes.”
The actor had to say no to several offers owing to his commitment to the show. “I declined many shows, as I was keen on being a part of Fanaa. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t live up to my expectations. I am obviously disappointed and hurt that my journey on the show is getting over and I wasn’t as creatively satisfying as I had expected, I have taken this development in my stride. I didn’t even bother talking to my producers, as I feel I am done with the show. I just left it to them to decide the fate of my character. Having said that, I am grateful to the cast and crew, especially Reem Shaikh and Zain Imam, who made me feel like an integral part,” he concluded.
