The horizon looked beautiful. The seven colours of the rainbow blended and shined as if signing off for the last time, indicating the hour of dusk. It was the end of another day and the birds chirped calling their mates and young ones to return back home. Everything going on in the nature was visible to Swara, who stood still at her balcony. The sound of nature was music to her ears, they buzzed a soft tune as she closed her eyes and calmed herself.
The sky is an infinite movie to her. She never gets tired of looking at what’s happening up there. It has always been there for her, while her life has been going through many, many changes. When she looks up the sky, it gives her a nice feeling, like looking at an old friend.
The knock at the door made her alert and she returned to her room silently. As she took a seat on her couch, a man of late fifties entered the room and settled opposite to her. She aggitated with her nails as she wanted to tell him so much but no words came out of her.
“Karan?” all of a sudden, collecting her thoughts, she called him out, who sat opening his laptop and started his work.
“Hmm..”
“How was your day?” the most obvious question for him to hear, he just looked up and smiled at her.
“It was good. What about yours?” he promptly asked as he knew she wanted to speak something but words lacked from her mouth. Three years of their marriage, but the walls of their room had heard nothing except silence.
“It was good. Umm.. A normal one” falsely she brought up a smile on her face as guilt built up whilst Karan got back to his work. She was bad, she has cheated her husband and this wasn’t right. The thought of cheating a man she respects so much was a sin for her.
She wanted to keep the guilt away and tell Karan everything but she was afraid of the consequences. She knew if she ever spoke the truth she would lose everything and put her family’s name in shame. Karan has always been an understanding husband, although namesake and their relation carried no love but she didn’t want his trust for her to split up.
“Are you fine Swara?” Karan couldn’t stop himself from asking her. The last time he saw her like that was when she wanted to ask permission from him to do a job. She was deep lost in thoughts and he could easily guess something was bothering her. He did trust her a lot. The way she takes care of his family and then her work was an excellent thing for him. His family was totally broken but things changed as she mended her ways to his house. Theirs was no love marriage. His mother has advised him to remarry to get a heir for the “RAJPUROHITS”, the well-known billionaires – their ancestors belonging to royal families. They were popular fighters who held their head high during the Mughal rule in India. For them their respect, social and economic status was, is and will always be a legacy.
Swara entered their lives in an unexpected time when the pillar of the Rajpurohit’s was falling off but with her entry, the obstacles subsided and his mother finally chose her for him. He had never wanted to remarry. She was a small kid and only 17 when she entered their lives. He couldn’t say no to his dear mother who had given words to her and thus he had to marry her.
According to him, relationships needs to be mended in their own possible ways. Pushing somebody into a relation wouldn’t make the fruit ripe off and so he had always been gentle with her. He had allowed her to work wherever she wanted as Swara Roy but not as Swara Karan Rajpurohit. The world knew he has remarried but to whom was always a question mark.
“Yes I am” it took her few minutes to answer him. Karan just stared at her for sometime. He didn’t know her worry but he was eager to sort it.
He stood up from his place and sat next to her. She was still lost somewhere. He took her hands in his as she turned in a manner to look at him.
“The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it. You may be someone’s daughter, someone’s friend, someone’s sister but in the very beginning you are my wife. Like I have rights on you, you too have on me. I am letting you go for work doesn’t mean that you will misuse your freedom. Before doing anything think thrice. I hope you will mark my words and I don’t have to repeat them again” Swara nodded her head. “I don’t want to know what’s bothering you so much but I trust you and never break my trust!” with that he kissed her temples and patted her cheeks asking her to take rest as he got back to work again.
Swara did as asked. She moved towards the bed. All lost in her own thoughts, she closed her eyes. But the act didn’t help her, she was eventually thinking of the same things running through her mind. For the society and it’s rules everything seemed wrong, as Mrs. Karan Rajpurohit it seemed wrong but as a young girl of her age, to get attracted to a man of her age or close to hers was no wrong. She was so deeply attracted to him since she joined work. Swara did fantasized for him although she repented it later. Anyone could observe the tinge of red on her skin as he called out for her but all went pale as soon as she realized how wrong she has been, the next moment.
The house she lives in has given her lot more than she deserves and she can never think of going against their rules. She has seen better days, but also worse. She doesn’t have everything she wants but she does have all she needs. She wakes up with some aches and pains but she does wake up. Her life may not be perfect but she is blessed.
She believes that happiness isn’t about getting what you want all the time. It’s about loving what you have and being grateful for it. She has lost herself and her family long ago but then this family gave her a new identity and welcomed her into their lives happily. If today she had to sacrifice herself for them, then she was surely not going to step back. Amidst all her life is rifted apart, Swara Roy or Swara Karan Rajpurohit? Will she ever taste her part of happiness or will remain bound by the dignity of the Rajpurohit’s?

i so misunderstood your story for which i am regretting now. i was confused to whether read this or not as in the last part, i decided to not read this ff. for the first time ever in my life, i am so happy to be proved wrong..
let me be honest..
your writings are really flawless and so much beautiful that your prologue made me think, why are you not using your talent properly and writing such stories!!
but this is so nice!..
like getting married in so young age that to an old man and then wishing for another person.. i didn’t think like this way. i mean i thought she is cheating karan and was getting attracted towards sanskar but this poor girl had an old husband!! she is so young and do deserves a life which she wants!!
it is a very bold genre..
so take care of it, it won’t take time for people to misunderstand this story like i did!!..
good one, do continue!!
and sorry too!!
thank you so much for proving me wrong!!

nice
Thank you
Hehe.. I was so wrong about this FF..??
Now I understand why Swara was attracted to Sanskar instead of Karan.. of course.. who would be attracted to a man who is around her fathers age.. And I don’t think it’s wrong to be attracted to someone in your age in THIS situation.. It’s normal, everyone has his/her own feelings.. I’m just feeling bad for Swara..
Tbh, at first I thought “man in his fifties” was a typo but now I’m slowly getting the concept…??
I know I said it in the last chapter as well, but I just LOVE the way you write!!
Update soon, take care!!?
Thank you
