Ankita Lokhande Delves into her Role in ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ and its Distinction from ‘Manikarnika’

Renowned television actress Ankita Lokhande, famed for her portrayal in “Pavitra Rishta” and her notable venture into Bollywood, has been making waves since her exit from the Bigg Boss 17 house. Among the myriad reasons capturing headlines, her upcoming collaboration with Randeep Hooda in “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” stands out prominently. In an exclusive dialogue with Pinkvilla, Lokhande elaborated on her portrayal of Yamunabai, shedding light on the distinctions from her previous role as Jhalkaribai in “Manikarnika.”

Addressing comparisons between the two characters, Lokhande emphasized their distinctiveness, stating, “It’s unfair to draw parallels as both characters are inherently different. Jhalkaribai led battles from the forefront, while Yamunabai’s struggles took a different trajectory. Each possesses formidable strength in their own right.”

In “Manikarnika,” Lokhande made her Bollywood debut essaying the role of Jhalkaribai, a valiant commander in Rani Laxmibai’s army. Her performance garnered acclaim, and she cultivated a close rapport with co-star Kangana Ranaut. Transitioning from her stint on Bigg Boss 17, Lokhande now embodies the character of Yamunabai, the wife of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, in “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.” The film marks her return to the silver screen and is slated for release on March 22, 2024.

“Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” serves as a biopic chronicling the life of revolutionary leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, with Randeep Hooda not only portraying Savarkar but also assuming roles as writer and director. The recently unveiled trailer has garnered widespread acclaim, attesting to the anticipation surrounding the film’s release.

Simultaneously, Lokhande’s journey in Bigg Boss 17, where she emerged as a finalist, captivated audiences with its tumultuous twists, notably featuring her confrontations with husband Vicky Jain.

As Lokhande prepares to captivate audiences with her portrayal in “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” her insights underscore the nuanced portrayal of characters and the enduring impact of her versatile performances.
