At a family gathering, a guest insults Saraswati. Mrs Rastogi criticizes Apollena for her cooking skills, claiming she ruined the kheer by adding salt. However, when the guests taste it, they praise it’s flavor, leaving Irani confused about how the salt disappeared. Shlok recalls stopping Apollena from adding salt and helping her fix the dish. He later thanks her for saving his mother’s reputation, but Rastogi continues to complain that Apollena is not following traditions. He warns Saraswati that Shlok might prioritize his wife over his mother, making Saraswati feel embarrassed in front of her friends.
Shlok then asks Apollena to wear the nuptial chain and apply vermilion to maintain appearances. She reluctantly wears the chain but refuses the vermilion, citing health concerns about its chemical content. Shlok dismisses her argument, insisting it’s a tradition. Saraswati overhears and questions why Shlok married someone who doesn’t respect their customs. She announces a “muh dikhai” ceremony and warns Apollena not to disgrace her again. Shlok, deeply hurt by his mother’s disappointment, tells Apollena that he cannot bear to see her in tears.
Meanwhile, Bittu asks Girdhar to fix his radio, and they hear Neil singing on a program, crediting his family for his success. However, Neil feels unrecognized by his father, leaving Girdhar guilty.
During the ceremony, Apollena stumbles, and Shlok catches her in his arms, leading to teasing from the family. Irani, jealous of their growing closeness, spies on them. Saraswati instructs Shlok to ensure Apollena’s veil stays in place, fearing people will notice she hasn’t applied vermilion. However, when Irani lifts Apollena’s veil, she is shocked to see vermilion on her forehead. Shlok thanks Apollena for respecting their traditions, but later, Irani manipulates Saraswati against her, further fueling tensions in the household.
