Colors’ Vidya started last week at the 7 pm slot. The show revolves the female protagonist Vidya, who is an illiterate girl, bagging a job of an English teacher at a government school. Vidya had to leave education when her family could afford education of just one child. She stepped back to let her brother get educated. Vidya got groomed to handle household tasks by her mother. Vidya was married at a young age to a army soldier, who soon died after their marriage. Vidya turned into a widower. She has been looking after her in-laws since then.
Vidya’s world is just her in-laws family, who had spent big amount of money to arrange a fake degree for her in order to get a government job for her. They compel Vidya to do her job that pays out decent amount for their expenses. Vidya’s own family also gets greedy for money, just like her in-laws. She faces pressure from both the families and continues the job with much difficulty. She hides the truth that she is an illiterate.
