Arranged marriage no way – conclusion
Another bright and beautiful morning, cool wind blowing and the waves playing with the shore. A girl is sitting on the rocks but unlike the last time, she’s not stressed. Expectation, hope and a little nervousness could be clearly seen on her face.
Anika pov: Last evening was nothing like i had expected, it turned my life upside down. I don’t really understand why i stopped him, i need clarification from my heart. I have a good feeling about him. Let’s see if my heart has really identified THE ONE. Where is he? Yesterday he was here at the beach at this time, i hope he comes today as well. We didn’t get to talk and i have so many questions and confusions in my mind.
She was getting impatient, constantly looking for him. And then she finally spotted him doing push-ups nearby. He was about to leave when he saw her looking at him.
Shivaay: good morning anika
Anika: good morning
Shivaay: do you come here regularly or are you stalking me ( he said with a mischievous smile)
Anika: I’m not a stalker okay, i needed to talk to you and i hoped to find you here
He sat beside her, of course he knew what she wanted to talk about. Well she made it pretty clear she wanted to know him, so obviously.
Shivaay: so, what do you want to know about me
Anika: i don’t know, i told you I need your help to figure this out
Shivaay: okay, let’s start with cleaning up your version of me. Well yes, I’m punctual. When you have such huge business responsibilities, you need to be on time. And you should try to be more punctual if you want to get to work on time( he winked at her). You said you like long drives and I like to drive, so that problem is solved (she smiled). Going out with friends, hmm, i never get so much time to go for outings. Most of my outings are business trips and my closest friends are my brothers. I make sure that i spend some time with them each day. They are my life. So you can go out with your friends, i won’t mind but do save some time for your husband also (he laughed and so did she). Hmm, your banter, we’ll have to see what can be done ( he laughed out loud this time)
Anika: see, i told you, you won’t be able to bare me
Shivaay: hey hey, i didn’t say i have a problem with that. I was joking. Okay tell me now, what else do you want to know
Anika: You’ve been very nice and calm with me till now, but I’ve heard you have temper issues
Shivaay: umm, that’s true, i do get angry sometimes and break stuff, especially my phone but it’s not that bad you know, i mean, i don’t get angry for no reason. And you’ll understand that when you have so many responsibilities
Anika: i told you how i like to live, tell me about your likes
Shivaay: okay, i like my work, I’m a workaholic. I love my family and i like to spend time with my brothers. I love espresso, can’t live a day without it. Umm, it may sound weird but i do enjoy dancing once in a while
Anika: nope, it sounds fun not weird ( she smiled supporting him). Why did your previous relationship end?
Shivaay: there was no love. I wanted to pursue my career but all she cared about was shopping and partying. Our difference in opinions lead us to rethink about what we had. It was just attraction which faded out eventually. We never cared about each other. Also, my brothers hated her, so marriage was off the table anyways( he laughed remembering the fit his brother threw asking him to break up)
Anika: what about me? What did your brothers say about me. I’ve met them once
Shivaay: they adore you, Om was glad that such girls exist( he laughed again) and rudra was so impressed when gauri mentioned all the pranks you’ve played. He’s actually waiting for you to join his team and be his partner in crime. He also thinks that you are cute
They laughed at his little brother’s antics. Then anika got serious as many doubts still lingered in her mind.
Anika: you knew who i was yet you advised me to reject you, why? Why didn’t you tell me you were the guy i was supposed to meet
Shivaay: you can’t force someone to be a part of your life. We both have to take that decision. So i can’t deny you that choice. Telling you the truth would have only increased your miseries. I want to tell you something Anika. I’m not like you, I never believed in the philosophy of finding THE ONE, i don’t believe in love stories as well
Anika: hence the novel ( she said smiling and he smiled back)
Shivaay: yes. I wasn’t ready for marriage until i read about you. Yes read, not when i saw your picture. You are really beautiful, i won’t deny that but there are other beautiful girls, sorry if i sound rude but your looks didn’t affect me as much as your personality did . You’re independent and you’ve worked hard to get here. You could have joined your father’s business like your sister but you chose to do what you like and made the best out of it. I knew i had to meet this girl, who’s determined and ambitious like me. And then your sister wouldn’t shut up about you, i guess the chatty behavior runs in the family( he chuckled while she continued blushing). She looks up to you like you’re her savior and that was it. I found a girl who’s hard working like me and loves her sister so much that she would do anything for her. Your bond with your sister is just like mine with my omru. So i was ready then, to marry you.
Anika was a little shocked, she hadn’t expected such honest and heartfelt conversation.
Anika: I understand what you just said but the child in me is jumping and screaming to ask something. You said my looks didn’t impress you yet you were constantly flirting with me yesterday (she smirked)
Shivaay: ( laughed whole heartedly) after everything I’ve said, this is what you got from the conversation. I called you beautiful atleast 10 times last morning and you think i wasn’t attracted to you. And I’m not some roadside romeo who’d flirt with girls. I flirted cause i knew who you were and it wasn’t even intentional. It just happened with the flow. Oh, wait a minute, you’re missing that aren’t you, you want me to flirt with you.
Now she was embarrassed while he died laughing
Anika: it’s.. it’s nothing like that, i was just pointing out. Stop laughing now
He composed himself and continued
Shivaay: i was a little disheartened after talking to you last morning, cause you gave me so many reasons to like you and i had given you none. I don’t know if there’s still any reason. So even if you reject the proposal now, it won’t be a problem. I’d talk to your family if that’s what worries you.
While he spoke, she was drowning in his beautiful eyes.
Anika: your eyes are magical, she blurted out and realized immediately. She looked away to hide her embarrassment
Shivaay replied blushing and trying to tease her
Shivaay: thanks beautiful
That one word, his flirtiness brought her out of her embarrassment and reminded her of the previous morning. They had been sitting there and talking for a while now but they had lost track of time. Suddenly her phone rang breaking their moment and she answered immediately
Gauri: di where are you?
Anika: relax gauri, I’m at the beach
Gauri: what? Why? Are you worried about something?
Anika: no, I’m actually really happy here, and i think i should come here more often
She said while looking at shivaay, who couldn’t wipe his smile off his face now
Gauri: ok, come home fast or you’ll be late. Also, dad wants to talk to you about the alliance
Anika: yeah, i will. Gauri will you do me a favor
Gauri: yeah
Anika: tell dad i said YES
She blushed and looked away while shivaay’s happiness knew no bounds. After a few moments they looked at each other and shivaay broke the silence
Shivaay: A good morning indeed
