Arshad Warsi talks about his dream house in Saligao, Goa

In a recent interview, Arshad Warsi opened up about his long-standing desire to own a house in Goa, specifically a Portuguese-inspired house in Saligao. As he assists his wife, Maria Goretti, in setting up their new abode, Arshad reflects on the journey that led to fulfilling this dream.

The actor reveals, “I have always harbored the wish to purchase a house here in Goa. At that time, it was merely a thought without any means to make it a reality. I had no idea if I would ever achieve that dream. I have had an enduring love for Goa, despite people questioning why I needed a house when I could stay in a hotel instead. But I went ahead and bought my own house. As I became an actor, staying in hotels became difficult due to a lack of privacy, with fans constantly requesting photos. It was imperative for me to have my own place. I cannot go without visiting Goa at least once a year.”

Describing the house, Arshad explains, “I found a very old Portuguese house, which was in complete ruins. Maria is currently working on restoring it. We aim to preserve its original charm, rather than transforming it to resemble a house in Bombay. I didn’t want to lose the essence of the place. We have maintained its authentic elements, such as the thick walls and small coves for lamps. We have kept everything the same, except for replacing the rotten wood and making necessary repairs. It is important to retain the character of the property. At heart, I am a cowboy, and that aspect of my personality will not change. Now, we are excitedly working to prepare the house.”
