Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si: Sayli Salunkhe’s inspiring journey to her lead role
Sayli Salunkhe, known for her role opposite Karan V Grover in Bohot Pyaar Karte Hain, is back with a bang in the new show Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si. In a recent interview, the talented actress opens up about her journey to bagging the lead role, her character in the show, and the excitement of working with an experienced cast.
Reflecting on how she landed the show, Sayli shares, “I auditioned for this role two months ago, uncertain about the outcome. The director encouraged me to give my best, and the nervousness was palpable as it was a significant opportunity. After mock shoots, I remained hopeful, and when I learned that I was finalized for the character and show, I felt overwhelmed and shocked. Working with Rajan sir was a dream, and I am grateful to be a part of this project. Though there’s excitement, I’m also a bit nervous, determined to deliver my best performance.”
Asked if waiting for a lead role was a conscious decision, Sayli explains, “After Bohot Pyaar Karte Hain, I wanted to play a lead role. However, as an actor, waiting can be challenging, and there were moments when I felt like accepting any role that came my way. But the support from friends and loved ones kept me going. I utilized that time to hone my skills, attend workshops, and improve my craft. I had several offers, but I wanted to explore lead roles further and avoid negative or grey-shaded characters. Patience paid off, and I was fortunate to land this exciting show with amazing co-stars.”
On her experience working with Mohit, Sayli shares, “While I haven’t shot many scenes with Mohit yet, there was a preconceived notion that senior actors might have certain attitudes. However, working with Mohit has been a pleasure. He is supportive, guiding me through scenes, and helping me enhance my performance. I hope our on-screen bond grows stronger as the show progresses.”
Delving into her character, Sayli reveals, “My character is a 35-year-old woman whose father used to be a singer but had to quit due to an accident. Now, her dream is to pursue singing, and though she records jingles and snippets, she hasn’t had a big break yet. When she gets a significant opportunity, a twist involving Kunal, the music producer, unfolds, leaving the audience intrigued.”
Representing her Maharashtrian culture in the show, Sayli shares, “As a Maharashtrian, it’s effortless for me to get into the character’s skin. I get the chance to infuse cultural elements, mannerisms, and culinary etiquette to add authenticity. Working with experienced co-actors like Yatin sir, Ujwala Ma’am, Amit Bahl, and others is a privilege, and I look forward to learning and enjoying every step of the journey with them.”
Sayli Salunkhe’s inspiring journey to the lead role in Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si is a testament to her dedication and talent, promising an engaging and culturally rich television experience for the audience.
