Balika Vadhu fame Roop Durgapal’s social media is currently filled with an array of travel pictures from her recent solo trekking. This was her first solo travel experience.
The actress talked about it during a recent interview with ETimes TV and shared, “It was amazing and a revelation! It was my first experience of traveling solo, in the sense that I was not traveling with any friends or family. I did trekking to the Tikona fort in the Sahyadris for 500 feet, which is at an elevation of 3500 feet above sea level & then camping at the beautiful Pawana lake in Lonavala.”
Talking about how she overcame her fears, Roop shared, “I had a phobia of climbing up very steep stairs & even worse coming down from them. So much so that I would get nightmares of steep stairs, which used to make me cry. This time I not only climbed up and down the extremely steep stairs to the fort but did that without crying or creating a scene about it. The credit goes to me traveling solo with no family to give in to my tantrums and also to the chilled-out people around me. Making new friends and chilling at the trek and camp was lovely too.”
“I also enjoyed being on my own for the first time ever, being totally independent, deciding what I want, when I want, all by myself, and at the same time also being responsible for my safety. I would say everyone, especially an actor, must do a solo trip at least once to explore parts of themselves that are unknown. Actors need to constantly revive themselves and that can be best done by traveling & solo travel opens you up like nothing else,” she added.
Speaking about her trips in the recent past, Roop said, “I have traveled multiple times in between Covid-19. I did road trips twice to my home town Almora in Uttrakhand, went to Udaipur, and also did a work trip to Jakarta, Indonesia for a month.”
