Beyhadh fame Dev Paimal opens up on facing casting couch
Actor Dev Paimal, who is known for his role in shows like ‘Beyhadh’ and ‘Naagarjuna – Ek Yoddha’, during a recent interview revealed facing casting couch while pursuing a career in modeling.
He shared, “I was always enjoying my career in the fashion world. But the only thing which was troubling me during that time was casting couch. Being a man it was quite challenging for me to survive around the same gender, who used to hint towards backstage benefits. And if you fail to entertain them, they would make sure that you don’t have any work in hand. I feel that is the reason male models look ahead to pursue acting later. I heard that girls are usually unsafe in the showbiz industry, but men also face it.”
Dev who is also Mr. India further added that even when he started acting he lost a lot of work because he couldn’t choose to compromise. “To be an actor, the first thing I feel a newcomer needs is contact or should give away his emotions. Because some powerful people ruling the industry make sure that if you fail to entertain them that they make sure you are out of work. I have lost work in the final stages just because I said no to sleeping around. But I’m happy with my growth. As an actor, I always believe to get success with my struggles, not shortcuts. I’m happy that somehow television has been the best and secure place for an artist.”
Dev was last seen in the television show ‘Kalash Ek Vishwaas’. The actor is now looking for a comeback on the screen. “I’m in talks for a show, I will soon make it official as I begin my shoots. I would love to entertain my audience by essaying some really challenging roles,” he concludes.
