Bigg Boss OTT 2: Jad Hadid opens up about his childhood abandonment and reunion with his mother
In the second season of Bigg Boss OTT, Lebanese-born model Jad Hadid captivated viewers with a heartfelt conversation about his life. During a recent episode, Jad shared the story of his tumultuous childhood, recounting how his parents left him on their neighbor’s doorstep, and how he was raised by them. Seated together with Pooja Bhatt and Cyrus Broacha, Jad’s candid revelations struck a chord with his fellow contestants.
In this particular episode, Cyrus inquired about Jad’s survival story and the circumstances surrounding his parents’ decision to abandon him. Reflecting on his past, Jad disclosed the painful truth about his parents’ actions. “When my father returned from spending time with my mother, who was pregnant with me at the time, he took my documents to the municipality. My mother insisted on baptizing me, so he left and traveled to various locations. Unfortunately, when I was born, he wasn’t present, and my mother went ahead with the baptism and gave me the name Jad, a non-religious name. She believed he would never return, especially since there were no means of communication in 1984. But he did return, discovered my baptism papers, tore up my mother’s documents, divorced her, packed his bags, and left, all in a single day.”
Jad continued to recount his childhood, saying, “A few days later, my mother, thinking my father would eventually return, packed her belongings and left me with our neighbors. She told them she was going to the supermarket. I stayed in that room for a week, surviving on scraps of food from a nearby restaurant, where they would dispose of leftovers at the end of the day. One day, a neighbor who owned a library spotted me and was shocked that my mother had left me behind. He took me by the hand and knocked on our door, but no one answered. It turned out my father had sold the house within a few hours.”
When Pooja inquired about his reunion with his mother, Jad emotionally recalled the encounter that took place 17 years later. “I searched for her tirelessly. The meeting was incredibly dramatic. When I revealed my identity to her, she collapsed. I showed her all the documents, but due to her difficult life, she couldn’t read anymore. After a few years of being reunited, she passed away. I never wanted her to apologize; she had already said sorry. She believed I was with my father all this time, and she didn’t know I had been alone. In her mind, my father had returned and taken me with him. She chose not to confront him, holding onto that belief.”
Cyrus then asked about Jad’s father, to which he sorrowfully shared that his father had passed away a decade ago, and he had never attempted to find him. Touched by Jad’s story, Pooja Bhatt rose from her seat and embraced him, commending his resilience throughout his journey.
