Today I wont tell much, but I am as a viewers just astonished that people are really segregative towards Bollywood and Television…Why!!!
It has been over 20 yrs from now and Bollywood was once well known for typical and enlisted jaunre of ‘love stories’ or high level melodramatic ‘saas bahu stories’.
The love stories were merely foe stories of old generation and their children fell in love with each other, in which most of them were either rich boy fell in love to poor girl or vice versa. Or either many producers were keen to show a poor , innocent girl becomes a daughter in law to a big richie family with nosy attitude , and their work was only to torture the bahu and bahu would prove herself a good willed sacrificing bahurani of the house having no life of own. So clitched were the 90s storyline…but few of them were really nice like ‘Andaz apnaa apnaa’ something not really preachy or boring among 90s trend. Its my personal favourite comedy movie.
Ok …coming to point.. That today , I must say that Bollywood transisted a way far from back 90s ghisa pita trend of ‘hero heroine and villain’ to content oriented storyline like showing real glimpses of life ranging from father daughter relationship(in piku, dangal, english medium), father son relationship (three idiots, udaan, etc) progressive women’s careeristic mindset(pink , thappad, mission mangal, mardaani1 and 2 and many more) to sports encouraging stories (bhaag milkha bhaag, ms dhoni, chak de , iqbal etc). And yes though some of them though didn’t clicked box office range as other commercial movies, but yes it left a good impact over audience mind to let us think about charachters and learn something good from them.
But what makes me wonder that , it has been also crossed 20 yrs+ in tv too starting from entertaining saas bahu stories and love stories back in 2000 , yes indeed I am still fan of smriti irani mam for kyunki..and kzk1 is still my most favorite love story from 2001 era , it had a magic…but I really aspired that likewise bollywood, tv will also try to change itself in content with so much profusely talented actors/actresses , but it has been 2021!!!! But no change in content , ‘wohi ghisa pita ‘saas sasur aur bahu ka taana’ , or ‘ek pati ke do wife’ the trp buster trend of all time. I mean is there no producer left who can show something beyond these stuffs. Kya sach mein har ghar mein ek pati ke do wife rehna possible hai??? Kanoon naam ki cheez nahi hai kya india mein…????
Next comes ‘Ek swabhimani ladki ki aatmanirbhar hone ki daastaa’, really????I didn’t saw any such charachters till now ..Yes sandhya and Suraj from ‘diya aur baati hum’, somewhat proved some metal as working lady and encouraging husband…but what about others jo aatmanirbhar hone ke baat kehke sasural ka taana khate rehte hai aur ant tak ‘best bahu ka medal’ ke liye ‘sautan’ aur ‘devraani’, ‘jethaani’ se bhirte bhirte mahaan ho jaate hai… Jo achanak ghar ki naukrani cum bahurani se businesswoman aur lawyer ban jaate hai???? Is it possible with no toil or degree or going to college????
Like wasn’t it enough of ‘kyunki…’, ‘kahaani…’, ‘bidai’, ‘yeh rishta ….’,ki ab inke season2 bhi aane lage, matlab ki hum tv ko badalne denge hi nahi..
So what who cares for content… When people has loves ‘chemistry >>>>>>>>>>content’.
I wont say ki director yaa producer kuch different try kiya hi nahi kabhi, like we have even saw Nikhil Advani, Ashutosh Gowerekar tried his their best for tv with ‘POW ..bandi yudh ke’, ‘Everest’, ‘meri tamanna’ , ’24’, ‘Dev’, ‘pyaar ko ho jaane do’ (sony tv)’ Ajeeb daastaa hai yeh (on life ok) ‘Rudrakaal (star plus)’, ‘Discovery Jeet shows’ and a big thanks to all wonderfull Epic shows…..but who saw them or gave trp and encourage directors to make more shows like these , and change TV jaunre lil bit….No one cared, nor saw such shows!!!! Because everyone just want to see masaalla!!!! Not story.
Lastly, you readers may think that, of all things why I am so bothered so much for TV , the reason is that, I think that If ‘TV’ is recognised as industry as Bollywood , then its level in terms of content must also change. And if we have such a good bunch of actors/actresses in tv then why they should be wasted in ‘old rut concept’, .Tv can also compete wisely with Bollywood in term of ‘Content’.
So please viewers show some hatred for stereotyped concepts of TV, if we really want some change in Tv industry. Rest is viewer’s choice. I can’t force others.
