@Anisha Thank you dear
@Jayanthi Aww thank you so much. It really means a lot to me (^hearts^).
And I know you just love both the kids a lot (hehe)!
As for your theory, it sounds interesting, but we’ll see if that’s what is the truth.
@Mary Thank you so much. The reason Riddhima believes Kabir is because of his profession. Plus, she herself saw Vansh brutally kill two people, so that just adds to her beliefs.
But yes, you will see her subtly confronting Vansh for his crimes.
@Yashi Thanks a lot
@Akirti Thank you dear
@Ayesha Thank you and many, many happy returns of the day! You wanted me to update ‘In the Name of Love’, but I updated this one instead. Hope that makes up for it.
@Ravneet Thanks a lot
@Candid11 Thank you dear
@RiansHLoveR Thanks a lot
@Manya Yes, it kind of started. But they have so many issues between them right now, that it’s difficult to even imagine any healthy romance between them.
@Pomu Thank you so much. Ikr,the truth about KaVa was the bomb for the previous chapter.
@Pranjal Thanks a lot
@AarushiSoni Thank you so much. Everyone likes a little tinge of jealousy in love stories right (wink)?
@Jayashree Aww thank you so much. I’m glad to see you loving both the stories (^hearts^)
@Priyadharshini Thank you dear
@JJ Thanks a lot
@Vkjhp Thank you dear
@Sree Thank you dear
@Diya Thank you dear
@Prapti0809 Thanks a lot. Yes, as for now, we can consider that Kabir is telling the truth. He hasn’t given any signs or hints of lying though.
@Aisha08 Thank you dear
@Maanvika Thank you so much
@Nandhu Thanks a lot
@Priyanshi_13 Thanks a lot. Here is the update (sorry a little late, but not as late as before right. I’m improving hehe)
@Scarlet Flower Thanks a lot
@Ishu Thank you dear
@Priyanka Thakur Thank you so much. I’m glad that you liked the bomb that I threw upon you guys (hehe, jk). And yes, your guess is correct!
@Shreya Thank you so much. Yes, I understand that you want to see the couple together. You will have to wait some time for that.
@Neetu Thank you dear
@1234Aayu Thanks a lot
@Priya Sungh Thank you dear
@Parita Thank you so much. Haha, I don’t know why I always loved KaVa in the show too, but unfortunately that never happened. So to fulfill my dreams, I brought this twist (hehe lol)
@Riaa Thankyou so much. Yes, Riddhima is very successful in showing her indifference towards him, but unfortunately Vansh cannot do the same. Perhaps it has to do something with their genders, because women are known to be emotionally stronger than men.

Riddhima returned to Reyansh’s room, but her mind was still wandering with whatever Kabir had told her. She was so badly stuck in a stupor, that Roshan had to nudge her twice to bring her back to the reality.

“Are you alright?” he asked her sounding worried.

“I’m just amazed by the games that life sometimes plays with us….” she replied thoughtlessly.

“What do you mean by……?” Roshan was cut mid-way by his buzzing phone.

“How many times should I tell you the same thing? I don’t want to talk about this anymore. Stop bugging me, for heaven’s sake!” Saying this, Roshan angrily hung up.

“Who was it?” Riddhima enquired.

“There is only one person in this world who can irritate me to this extent,” said Roshan.

“Ronita?”

“Yup.”

Riddhima turned to him sternly. “Roshan, she is your fiancee. That’s no way to speak to her.”

“So what else can I do? Instead of understanding my predicament, she is going around trying to convince me to agree to her parents’ stupid demands,” said Roshan in exasperation.

Riddhima raised her eyebrows at him.
“What demand?”

Roshan said, “Apparently, some of Ronita’s close relatives would be unable to attend our wedding since they are heading to US in a week. So Ronita’s parents want us to host a function for those relatives in the next 1-2 days.
I tried to explain to them that Reyansh is in hospital and that we aren’t in a position to make arrangements for something like this, but they aren’t willing to listen to me. Not going to lie, but her family is pretty selfish and heartless, and I already seem to hate them!”

“Tell them that we will throw a grand party for the relatives,” Riddhima said out of the blue.

Roshan was surprised. “But Di, what about Reyansh? And what about you? I know that you are still not out of the trauma of this whole kidnapping fiasco….”

Riddhima said, “Exactly! Not only me, but even the kids are greatly affected by all these happenings. So this party would pose as a distraction for them, as well for us. As far as Reyansh’s health is concerned, he is doing pretty fine. He only needs to rest, and I’ll make sure he gets enough of it.”

She looked around trying to make sure no one was nearby, and started speaking in a hushed voice.
“Plus, this will give me an excuse to leave Vansh’s house and escape from his constant scrutiny. You forgot that we still need to hatch out a plan to run away from Manali. And we can do that only if Vansh is not constantly watching over me…..”

Roshan started coughing abruptly. Riddhima turned around to see Vansh standing at the door.
She felt frightened. Did Vansh get to hear everything that she said?

Vansh saw the brother and sister exchange glances with each other, and he understood that they were hiding something from him. But what was it?

“I spoke to the doctor and he said that Reyansh will be discharged by today evening,” said Vansh.

“That’s great!” said Riddhima. “Actually there’s something I want to tell you as well.”

Vansh signalled her to go on.

“Vansh, we cannot come with you to your house. Instead, we’ll be heading to Roshan’s,” she tried to sound as genuine as possible. “Ronita’s parents want us to hold a gathering for some of their relatives, either tomorrow or the day after.”

“So?”

“So, I am supposed to be present there for carrying out all the preparations, you see,” she explained.

“So why are you telling me this? You may go wherever you want, I am least bothered about that,” taunted Vansh. “But my children will not be going anywhere else. They will be heading with me to MY house.”

“But it’s only a matter of 1-2 days….”

“I don’t blo*dy care!” snarled Vansh.

“But I do care,” Riddhima tried to persuade him. “I cannot leave my children like that. They need me, especially Reyansh at this time.”

“So it is up to you to decide what is more important for you. Your son, or a gathering with your brother’s in-laws?” said Vansh matter-of-factly.

Roshan gritted his teeth. “If murder ever became legal, the first person I’d like to kill would be this man.”

Vansh let out a menacing laugh. “What is the use of imagining about something that can never turn true? By the way Riddhima, I must say that your entire family is like you, utterly dumb.”

“Yeah, that’s what I felt about your mom too,” said Roshan coolly. “Except, I’d like to replace the word ‘dumb’ with ‘a petty 3 year old’.”

“You!” Vansh raised a finger at him.

“Stop it you two!” she said placing herself between the both of them.
“Fine, Vansh. We won’t be going anywhere and would be heading to your house.”

Vansh looked at her triumphantly. Whether one called it his ego or his obsession, but he loved winning over Riddhima. Watching her give up was his guilty pleasure.

“Aww, Reyansh looks so weak,” said Anupriya as Vansh and Riddhima entered the house with the kids.
“I just hope he becomes alright soon.”

Vansh kissed his son’s cheek. “Oh of course, he will. Our Reyansh is a really brave and strong boy, isn’t he?”

Just then, Angre came inside, looking worried.
“The police came.”

Everyone was surprised to hear that, especially Sia and Aryan.

Anupriya angrily turned towards Riddhima and said, “Now what did you do? Which new case are you planning to trap my son in?”

“Whoa, whoa! As soon as you heard the police’s name, you started panicking? You know right, which kind of people feel afraid of the police, Mrs. Anupriya?” mocked Riddhima.

Vansh intervened, “Mom relax! Nothing’s going to happen and trust me, I’ll handle everything.”

He asked Angre to take the kids upstairs while he dealt with this matter.

Vansh greeted the police politely.
“Hello Inspector! May I kindly know what brings you here?”

“We came to know about how your kids had been kidnapped…”

Vansh and Riddhima flinched. They had not informed anything to the police yet, so how come they knew about it?

“I informed them,” a familiar voice came from across the door.

When they turned around, they found Kabir standing in the doorway.
Vansh became furious.

“I am a family friend. I could not see the mother in pain, that is why I had to inform the police myself,” said Kabir staring at Riddhima, but she looked away.

Vansh observed this. It seemed like Riddhima was upset with Kabir, but why?

“Don’t worry, Inspector. The kids are back and doing well now,” said Vansh.

“We are not here to ask about the welfare of your kids. Rather, we’re here to arrest the kidnapper,” said the Inspector.

“Who is it?” Riddhima asked, the eagerness evident from her voice.

Kabir patted her shoulder. “You’ll soon get to know it.”

Vansh became jealous seeing Kabir getting all touchy with Riddhima. He angrily turned his face away.

Kabir came closer to Vansh. “You think that you are really smart, right. So let me give you a hint. The kidnapper is present right among us.”

Vansh said, “Then mustn’t it be you, Kabir? I’ve been having my doubts on you since the start.”

Kabir clicked his tongue. “What is the use of such smartness that gets clouded by sheer hatred for someone? Naah! It can’t be me. Otherwise why would I inform the police about the same after the children had been found? Makes no sense.”

“It must be Riddhima then,” said Anupriya from behind. “We all know, to what extent she dislikes Vansh. In fact, she never even wanted him anywhere around the kids. So in order to snatch the children away from him, perhaps she orchestrated this entire plan.”

Riddhima remarked, “You are absolutely right. I really, really hate your son.”

Vansh felt extremely hurt by her words.

Riddhima continued, “But my love for my children, is much more than than my hatred for their father. I’d never do anything that could endanger the lives of my kids.”

Kabir said, “I am giving a last chance for the kidnapper to own up his crime. Who knows, the police might take pity over him and reduce his punishment?”

Vansh snapped at him. “Firstly, you are NOT the Inspector. So why are you talking on his behalf? Secondly, are you trying to say that the kidnapper is someone from MY family? You better keep that mouth of your shut, or you may end up regretting badly.”

The Inspector dangled the handcuffs in his hands.
“You are under arrest…….….Mr. Aryan Raisinghania.”

Everyone looked on completely shocked.

“What rubbish! Aryan can never do such a thing,” Anupriya protested.

The Inspector flashed the call logs in front of her.
“We have caught the goons involved in the kidnapping, and they have taken Aryan’s name. And this record proves that Aryan Raisinghania has been frequently in touch with them.”

Aryan said, “All this is utter nonsense! I have done nothing of this sort.”

“He is being trapped. I know it!” cried Anupriya.

Riddhima’s anger knew no bounds.
“How dare you, Aryan!” she said while trying to march towards him, but Vansh stopped her.

“Inspector, can I have a word with Aryan in private? Just give me two minutes,” said Vansh.

Riddhima was stunned to see Vansh act so calm in spite of knowing the truth. She clapped her hands.
“Just yesterday, you had said to the goons on the phone that you will bring their entire families on the streets. So will you now bring yourself on the street too?
Or will you prove that these call logs and other evidences are fake, just like how you did with that video seven years back?”

Vansh ignored her and led Aryan to a secluded room.

Vansh passed a glass of water to him. “Just relax Aryan. You’re my brother, and I’ll do everything within my capability to save you. But for that, first you need to cooperate with me and tell me the whole truth. Only then, will I be able to save you.
Tell me, did you kidnap the children?”

Aryan hesitated. “Y-y-yes.”

“What? How could you?”

“I am sorry Bhai. I had no intention of hurting the kids, I just needed some money,” cried Aryan. “I had taken a debt of 40 crores to invest in some shares without your knowledge. But unfortunately, I lost all the money, and the creditors started threatening me with death if I didn’t return their money as soon as possible.
I had asked you to lend me the money, but you had plainly refused to me.”

Vansh banged his fist on the table. “I thought you wanted the money for your leisure. You should have told me the real reason behind it.”

“I am sorry Bhai. I felt that you’d taunt me if I told you about how I had lost all the money. Please save me! I don’t want to go to jail,” he pleaded.

Vansh assured him, “I’m happy that you told me the truth. Now I won’t let anything happen to you. You are my brother after all, a Raisinghania.”

They both soon came outside. Aryan had a confident expression on his face, while Riddhima looked at them disgusted.

“Inspector, I have something to show you,” said Vansh taking out his phone.

As soon as he pressed the button, the voice recording of his and Aryan’s conversation started playing out.

This was absolutely unexpected for Aryan. Vansh had thrown him under the bus.

“Aryan has himself confessed to the crime. There is no way he gets out of this,” said Vansh looking intently at Riddhima, who returned his gaze back.

Vansh soon turned around and slapped Aryan really hard, causing him to fall hard on the ground.
He picked him up by his collar, and slapped him again.

“You ungrateful piece of schmuck! How did you even dare to harm my kids? How could you stoop so low just for the sake of some God damn money?” growled Vansh.
“You thought I was helping you. No, you fool! I was making sure that you’d never come out of jail. Ever!”

Anupriya too started berating him.
“Rhea and Reyansh, they are Vansh’s children, your own nephew and niece. I’m ashamed to call you as my son today!”

“Mom…”

But Anupriya pushed him away, and even Sia looked away.

Aryan then went up to Riddhima and started pleading to her, falling down at her feet.
“I am really sorry! Trust me, I never wanted to hurt the kids. I really love them too. Please save me.
You are the children’s legal guardian, you can help me by trying to take the case back, or closing it altogether.”

Riddhima looked at him repulsively. “When I did not take the case back for Vansh, even when he was my husband back then, what makes you think I’d do the same for you, when I have no relation with you whatsoever?”

Her words stung Vansh really bad.

Riddhima’s eyes were blazing with fury. “If only it was about kidnapping, I’d have perhaps forgiven you. But you endangered their lives! My son, he was almost dead! I had to give him CPR to revive him. Being his mother, just imagine what I must have felt. No, I will never forgive you, not even over my dead body!”

She continued, “And you are lying when you say that you loved them. Because if you did, you wouldn’t have questioned their paternity.”

“What?” asked Vansh getting even more furious. “He did that?”

“Yes! He said that since me and you didn’t have a normal relation between us, the kids couldn’t possibly be yours. He indirectly called them illegitimate!” she said.

Vansh angrily began beating Aryan up.
“When I say that the kids are mine, then who are you to deny it? You bastard! I won’t leave you today.”

The Inspector pulled Aryan away from Vansh’s wrath.
“Control yourself, Mr. Raisinghania! Or we might have to end up arresting you as well.”

The police handcuffed Aryan and took him away.

Anupriya broke down. “I couldn’t be a good mother. I couldn’t instill any good values in him. The world will raise fingers at me now! They would say that since I was the stepmother, I instigated my real son against my stepson.”

Vansh pulled her into a hug and tried to console her.
“No Mom, it’s not your fault. You always tried to do the best for all three of us. And I don’t care what the world says. I know how good of a mother you are.”
Saying this, he hugged a crying Sia too.

Riddhima watched all this from a corner. Seizing an opportunity, Kabir came up to her.

“Thank you,” mumbled Riddhima.

“For what?” Kabir asked softly.

“For everything,” she replied.

Kabir took a deep breath. “You really don’t need to. Rhea and Reyansh are equally important to me. I did it for them.”

He moved closer to her and said, “Riddhima, I know you’re still upset with me. I know I shouldn’t have hidden such a big matter from you. But I can do nothing now, except for apologising.”

“It’s okay, Kabir. I think I can forgive you,” said Riddhima after sometime.

“Really?” Kabir was so elated that he hugged her out of excitement. He soon realized his mistake and moved away.

Vansh who saw all this, became extremely mad.

Later when he found Riddhima alone, he confronted her.
“I see, you and Kabir really have deep friendship with one another.”

Riddhima cocked her head towards him.
“Yes, Kabir is a very nice person, you see. He is honest and works for the country, not against it. And yes of course, he is a very good friend too.
Besides, you must be knowing that since him and you were such good friends back in the olden days….”

“Oh!” Vansh said surprised. “So he finally told you. Good.”

Recalling all that Kabir had told her, she said, “Don’t you ever feel ashamed of your crimes?”

Vansh snortled, “When a person crosses all limits, he forgets all of his shame and guilt. So no.”

Riddhima couldn’t believe this man’s audacity. “You ruthlessly killed so many people. Doesn’t your conscience ever question you about that?”

Looking straight into her eyes, he said casually, “Not at all.”

“Then there is no difference between you and the devil,” she retorted.

“I do not deny that,” he smirked.

When Vansh went to visit the children at night, he found them having a sad expression on their faces.

He became concerned. “What happened to both of you? Did anyone say anything?”

Rhea flung her arms around him.
“Papa, we really love Mamu a lot.”

“So? What about that?” asked Vansh confused.

“Papa, Mamu is having a party at his house tomorrow. We also want to attend it,” said Reyansh.

“No, you cannot,” said Vansh sternly.

They started crying making Vansh feel even more guilty.

“Fine, fine. Okay, you can attend it,” said Vansh giving into their demands. “But before that, I need a kiss from you each.”

They happily kissed him. “Thank you Papa! We love you.”

When Riddhima returned into the room, Rhea excitedly ran towards her and gave her the good news.

“Okay Rhea and Reyansh, what are you guys going to wear for tomorrow’s party?” said Riddhima equally excited.

But suddenly, Vansh pulled her towards him.

“I can’t believe it. Just to make me agree to what you wanted, you used the children? How cheap!”

Riddhima jerked his hands off her.
“Yes I did that. What’s the big deal? They are my children, and I can very well use them, as long as they aren’t getting hurt in the process.”

Vansh looked on irritatedly, as Riddhima continued to pack her and the children’s bags.
______________________________________

Ronita belonged to a conservative Marathi family. She and her parents lived in Manali, while rest of the relatives were coming all the way from Maharashtra to visit Ronita’s to-be in-laws.

The house was decorated, food was arranged, and the DJ had been called too. Riddhima did not want even a single thing to be missed out.

“Relax Riddhima! Everything is already done properly, so why are you cross-checking it again and again?” asked Kabir looking amused.

“You have no idea how particular Ronita’s family is. I don’t want anyone to point fingers at us,” said Riddhima panting, as she kept running from one corner to the other.

Kabir laughed. “Looking at your condition, it seems like you belong to the bride’s family, and they belong to the groom’s. Complete reversal of roles, you see.”

She explained, “Roshan and Ronita really love each other a lot. You don’t know how difficult it was for us to get Ronita’s parents to even agree to this alliance. I don’t want anything to happen that can threaten their relation.”

“Not everyone is lucky enough to get their love,” Riddhima said with a lost look in her eyes. “Roshan is lucky, and I want it to remain that way.”

Suddenly, lot of commotion was heard outside the house, and soon Ronita and her parents entered inside, followed by a huge group of people right behind them.

“Oh my God! I counted and there are almost fifty people!” Kabir gasped. “Is this a family or a herd of sheep?”

Riddhima shushed him up and quickly went to welcome the guests.

“I hope you all didn’t face any difficulties during the journey,” she said with a smile.

Roshan and Ronita pretended to act shy around each other, or else, Ronita’s conservative family would have many problems.

Roshan quickly touched the feet of Ronita’s parents, when her father spoke up, “Not only us, but you have to take the blessings of all the elders.”

Roshan looked horrified. There were at least twenty more elders, and he knew his back would break if he bent those many times.

Kabir tried to stifle a laughter when Riddhima elbowed him in his stomach. He stopped laughing immediately.

Roshan began touching their feet, one by one. He was getting angry and internally cursing himself for falling in love with a girl like Ronita.

“Please someone save me from this misery,” he thought desperately.

All of a sudden, the bell rang, and he heaved a sigh of relief thinking that at least he’d get some spare time to relax.

Riddhima, Kabir and Roshan were shocked to see who it was…..it was Vansh standing at the door, smiling menacingly at them.

Riddhima hurriedly pulled him aside amidst the questioning glares of the guests

“What are you doing here?” she asked him angrily.

The guests started ushering among themselves.
“Who is he? What is he doing here?”

Just then, Rhea came running towards Vansh, while Reyansh came limping towards him with his one foot bandaged.

“Papa! Papa! Thank you for coming. We were waiting for you since long.” They hugged him tight, while Vansh picked both of them up in his arms.

The guests gasped after coming to know he is the children’s father and Riddhima’s ex-husband.

“Vansh Raisinghania. You must have heard the name. After all, I believe I’m quite famous in Riddhima’s social circles,” he laughed at his own joke.

As soon as they came to know that he was none other than Vansh Raisinghania, the famous businessman, all the guests started circling around him, some of them trying to take his autograph, while others trying to click a selfie.

“Let me throw him out of the house,” said Kabir getting irked.

Riddhima stopped him from doing so. “We cannot do all this in front of the kids, it can have a bad effect on them. Also, I don’t want to create any scene in front of the guests. So just let it be. Let ME handle him now.”

With a lot of struggle, Riddhima managed to pull Vansh out of the crowd into a quiet corner.
“WHY are you here?”

Vansh smiled slyly. “Don’t have any misunderstanding that I’m here for you. I’m only here for my kids, they really insisted me to come by.”

Riddhima scoffed. “The kids insisted you, or you manipulated them into insisting you, huh? I know all of your games really well.”

“They are my kids too. So I can manipulate them, as long as they aren’t getting hurt in the process,” he smirked. “Besides sweetheart, wasn’t this the same thing that you had done too?”

“Fine,” she said resignedly. “But I don’t want you to create any scene here, okay?”

“Creating a scene? Well, if I remember clearly, that is supposed to be your guilty pleasure, not mine. Isn’t it?” he taunted.

“Idiot,” Riddhima muttered under her breath and stormed off from his sight.

Ronita excitedly came towards him. “Hi, so nice to see you again, Jiju.”

Vansh felt surprised to see her behave so politely with him, unlike the others. But why was she calling him ‘Jiju’? He almost wanted to tell her to not call him that again, but looking at her smiling away cheerfully, he thought otherwise.

Roshan angrily came near them and started scolding. “Ronita, what is wrong with you? Why are you talking to this man?
And you…” he said facing Vansh. “It’s my sheer helplessness that I have to remain quiet. Or else, I’d have definitely taught you a good lesson.”

Saying this, Roshan pulled Ronita away from there.

Vansh could only mutter, “Weird people!”

Soon, the DJ started playing the music, and Riddhima and Kabir started dancing on Ainvayi Ainvayi’.

Vansh fumed when he saw both of them together. If it was in his hands, he’d have easily picked up Kabir and dumped him out of the house, and made sure he never, ever came near Riddhima again. But unfortunately, he couldn’t any such thing because of the children. They were watching everything, and he didn’t want to pollute their young, impressionable minds.

A thin smile played on his lips, as a wicked plan started to form in his mind.
Yes, this would be absolutely perfect to teach Riddhima a lesson.
