Cyclone Tauktae destroys most of the TV sets in Mumbai, Maharashtra govt allow repairs ahead of monsoons

Cyclone Tauktae recently played havoc on the majority of the TV serial and film sets in and around the city of Mumbai. FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey in an interview with BT shared, “We have just learnt that several sets in Film City and other studios have been damaged due to the cyclone, We are trying to assess the situation.”

But he is relieved that the Maharashtra government has allowed the production houses to repair and prepare their sets for the monsoon.

Some of the TV shows and films that were being shot before the second lockdown were Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlta Hain, Anupamaa, The Kapil Sharma Show, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Along with them there were are big film sets that were under construction, some of them were Yash Raj’s Pathan and Karan Johar’s Brahmastra.

While Mumbai sets have faced the wrath of nature to Tauktae, most of the makers shooting in Gujarat and Daman confirmed that their sets are intact.

Saurabh Tewari, who is shooting for his serial Bawra Dil in Daman, sources from Super Dancer and Indian Idol sets and JD Majethia, whose show Wagle Ki Duniya is being shot in Silvassa all confirmed that they were not impacted by the Cyclone much.
