Actress Debattama Saha who is all set to essay the titular character of Mithai in the upcoming show ‘Mithai’ talked about it in a recent interview. She also talked about what prompted her to take up the show, the responses so far, and more.
She shared, ”The thing is I took a long gap after Anokhi and such a character that is positive and vibrant, I gave an audition and then went for a meeting and that is how things happened basically. I had to go for workshops later. It is such a beautiful character, it has a lot of shades to it, in a positive way. She knows values, she is simple and she is hardworking. She sells jalebi, and that’s how she survives. People generally think of their parents, who are no more and get sad, but she gets motivated thinking about her father, she has a positive outlook on life. Whatever the situation, she is an optimist. I wanted to say yes to the character because of the shades and graph.”
When asked how Mithai is different from Anokhi, she said, ”It is very different from Anokhi. Debattama is neutral if you ask me. I am chirpy to an extent but she is so lovely, hyperenergetic, and she is very high on energy. I had to tone down a bit for Anokhi, her struggle was different and Mithai’s struggle is different. It is a very different shade to myself, and it is a different kind of me.”
Talking about the response she has been getting so far, she shared, ”Fans are quite excited, from whatever DMs I’ve been receiving. We’ve put a lot of effort in the promo, and everyone has put in so much hard work. I need a lot of physical strength for this show and fans have been very supportive of it and I am glad. I want them to watch the show and I hope that they will like it.”
Talking about MIthai, the show will also feature Ashish Bhardhwaj in the role of Siddharth.
