Dr. BR Ambedkar’s life inspires me: Ripraj Chauhan
April 14, is the 132nd birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. Actor Ripraj Chauhan, who essays the role of Ambedkar’s brother Aanand in the TV show Ek Mahanayak – Dr BR Ambedkar talked about it in a recent interview and shared how he bagged the role and more.
Ripraj said, “When we were kids, our parents used to tell us motivational incidents from the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. The learnings from their lives helped me a lot. Even today, whenever I feel low, I read about these heroes of the nation. Whenever I read about Babasaheb, his life inspires me.”
Talking about his journey in showbiz, he said, “I have done many TV shows like Sa Se Saraswati and Gudiya Hamari Sabhi Pe Bhari among others, but my current show is very interesting. When I was finalized for the role of Aanand Rao in the show, I knew this was a great opportunity for me.”
He added, “As I mentioned earlier, I grew up hearing stories about Bapu and Babasaheb. When I decided to become an actor, I had a dream that maybe someday I will act in a show or a movie based on their lives. And fortunately, I got an opportunity to play the role of Babasaheb’s elder brother in the show. I believe in the popular quote of Rumi, ‘What you seek is seeking you,’ and that’s why I always say I manifested this role.”
Talking about his struggles, Ripraj said, “I belong to a middle-class family and lost my father when I was 12 years old. After that, we have seen a lot of struggles and we went through a financial crisis. It was a difficult phase, which is thankfully over now.”
