ED Summons Comedian Kapil Sharma and Actress Hina Khan in Betting App Investigation
Renowned comedian Kapil Sharma and actress Hina Khan find themselves in the midst of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation related to the Mahadev betting app case. As rumors circulate about various celebrities being probed in connection with the Mahadev money-laundering case, Kapil Sharma and Hina Khan have been officially summoned by the central agency.
This development follows the recent summoning of actor Ranbir Kapoor, with Huma Qureshi also being added to the list of individuals under investigation. The Enforcement Directorate has requested both Kapil Sharma and Hina Khan to appear before them to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
According to reports from ANI, “ED has summoned comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Huma Qureshi in connection with the Mahadev betting app case: ED Sources.” Additionally, News 18 reports, “Actor Hina Khan has also been summoned for the same.”
The investigation involves a total of 17 Bollywood celebrities, including the likes of Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Sonakshi Sinha. Their involvement is linked to events such as the wedding of the company’s CEO, Sourabh Chandrakar, in February and the company’s victory celebration in September 2022.
The ED claims that the Mahadev betting app facilitated illegal betting on various online games, spanning poker, card games, badminton, tennis, football, and cricket. The app is allegedly owned by Saurabh and Ravi Uppal, residing in Dubai, where gambling is legal. However, the operation of such betting activities is prohibited in India.
As the investigation unfolds, the entertainment industry finds itself under scrutiny, with celebrities being called upon to provide insights into their involvement with the Mahadev betting app and its operators.
