Precap: The school trip ended, everyone returned to school. The prom night started. Shravan imagine to dance with Suman but he doesn’t get a chance in reality.
Suman: You wanna dance.
Shravan smiles and nods.
Suman: Then let’s go to the dance floor. Now people are dancing as they like they don’t have to follow the routine from the dance class.
Suman stands up and start to go, Shravan follows her. He shadow boxes out of happiness, Suman looks back at him, he stands properly. She smiles and signals him to come. Shravan looks at his friends while going, they show him thumbs up. Shravan shows them thumbs up too. They goes to the dance floor and slowly starts moving with the beat.
Shravan’s Pov
This is it. This is my chance to show Sumo my dance moves.
Shravan moves a bit behind and gets hit with someone. He turns to look who it is but before that he gets a return hit, loses his balance and falls on his face on the ground. He hears Suman’s panic voice and Anish’s irritating laugh at the same time.
Suman: Shravan.
Anish: Oops, sorry Shravan I didn’t saw you there. But you shouldn’t wander around the dance floor like that, people are dancing here. You were bound get hit.
Shravan stands up, Suman helps him. He stands face to face with Anish. Shravan looks around him a bit, due to the scene everyone around them is looking at them.
Shravan: You did that intentionally.
Anish: Intentionally? Everyone saw that you bumped into me first.
Suman: Guys let it go. Don’t create a scene here.
Shravan looks around again and comes close to Anish and grabs his collar, both the gang surrounds them in a circle.
Shravan: Fine, let’s not create a scene here. Let’s go outside and settle this once and for all.
Anish forcefully takes Shravan’s hands out of his collar.
Anish: Fine let’s settle this.
Both of them leaves the auditorium and the gang follows them, so does Suman and Kanchan. Both the gang stand face to face with each other keeping Shravan and Anish in the middle outside the auditorium.
Shravan: What is your problem Anish? You had to ruin the mood even today.
Anish: You civilians are my problem, you Shravan, you are my problem.
Shravan laughs sarcasticly.
Shravan: We are honoured to know that you feel us capable of becoming your problem.
Anish: Before you came everything was fine here, the way it was supposed to be. These civilians had no backbone of standing against us.
Shravan: It’s you guys who don’t have a backbone, who picks on students to prove their superiority only to hide your weakness. Cause you know very well that if we civilians speak up then everyone will see how weak you really are.
Anish: Oh please, such big talks doesn’t suit you. You guys are weak, worthless and that’s the truth. And I will make sure you understand that.
Shravan: Then show me, I’m here, you are here, everyone is here. We can find out who is really worthless.
And… everyone breaks into fighting. The army gang vs the civilian gang for second time. Suman reaches there and sees everyone fighting, she makes her way to Shravan and Anish and takes them apart before any serious injuries happens. She screams in top of her lungs.
Suman: Stop.
Everyone stops and take their steps back. Shravan and Anish couldn’t fight either because Suman is standing between them.
Suman: Have you guys lost it? Have you forgotten the last time you guys did this what happened? Or did you thought you will again manage to pass this with another buddy project? If you fight again then the consequences will be bad this time.
Shravan: We came outside so that no scene creats before everyone.
Suman: But this is still the school ground.
Shravan: They started it. He just had to do that in front of everyone. You were there Sumo, you saw what happened.
Anish: Don’t try the blame game Shravan, I said that was accident. It was you guys who played a prank on us on the school trip.
Shravan: Sumo that was because they came first to pull a prank. We just acted on defense.
Suman: Enough. You both are in wrong. This is our last year in school and all this time you guys just keep going on with your hatred for each other. Both of you should have sorted your issues earlier instead of fighting all the time. Now make amends fast before the teachers come and we can put this all behind us.
Anish: Sorting issues with these guys? Suman it seems you have forgotten how things should be by spending too much time with your buddy. We don’t waste our time with these bunch of losers.
Shravan: The very same losers who have won the cultural fest for the school.
Anish: The very cultural fest that my team had always won each year. We would have won this year too if you hadn’t cheated.
Shravan: You lost your chance because you were over confident. Unlike us who worked hard for that.
Anish: Oh really? If you guys had so trust in your hard works then why did you sabatoged our work? Accept the truth that you didn’t had the courage. Cause you knew you guys are losers, you wouldn’t win if you face against us fairly. That’s why every time you guys stoop to dirty tricks.
Shravan: You are one to talk, if I start talking about your dirty tricks then it will become morning. Tell me something we grade 3 are civilians so you detest us. What about grade 2? They are from army families, your own. I heard that you hardly talk with them. If we were not here then obviously you guys would have bullied them instead cause that’s what you are, just some bully. And they knows that very well and that’s why out of fear they don’t speak.
Anish: Listen Shravan, there’s no point in such big talk. Take a good look at your minions, even they knows I’m speaking the truth. All you can do is talk big, pull a prank or create a bit trouble for us. But when it comes to the real academic stuff, you losers don’t stand a chance against us. You won that cultural fest cause Suman was in your team, who is one of us.
Shravan looks at his friends, their expressions. He turns at Anish.
Shravan: Fine Anish, enough of this cat and mouse game. We are going to fight you guys face to face, all fair.
Anish: Are you challenging us?
Shravan: Think of it something like that. If we win then there will be no more bulling. No more grade system, everyone will be treated equal.
Anish laughs.
Suman: Anish what’s so funny? I don’t support this fighting or this challenge but Shravan is right. We are taught to respect everyone and treat everyone equally. Ever since I am in this school, for so long this discrimination was going on, the so called grade system made by the students and all I did was putting a blind eye over it, thinking that’s how it is supposed to be as that’s how it’s always been. I never even thought I should try to do something. But after this buddy program I have realized how wrong it all was. Even the school doesn’t support it. At some points Shravan’s way of doing things maybe wrong but he at least spoke and said us where we are wrong. He tried to change things. Shouldn’t you guys know better to learn and accept you mistakes? I accept my mistakes for putting a blind eye over this topic for so long.
Anish’s face strengths more and more hearing Suman’s lecture. He turns at Shravan.
Anish: I accept your challenge. And when we will crush you civilians and win then Shravan you are gonna accept before everyone that we are better than you guys and until our school year ends you and your minions are gonna do everything we say.
Anish forwards his hand. To Suman’s dismay Shravan shakes his hand. Someones says the teachers are coming. Anish tries to leave Shravan’s hand but he holds it more strongly.
Shravan: We will meet tomorrow at ground and decide the details of this challenge.
He leaves his hand. Everyone hurriedly went inside the auditorium. Shravan takes his jacket over his shoulder and looks at Suman. Kanchan comes and takes her away. Shravan leaves the other way and leaves from school. Suman looks back while going, she sees Shravan’s back only, she turns back. Shravan turns this time but all he sees is Suman going inside. At night neither of them could sleep properly. While Suman couldn’t focus on what Kanchan is saying, Shravan couldn’t focus on Bunty’s nonsense talks and warnings over phone.
Next day
At school ground everyone’s gathered to decide the details of the competition.
Anish: Hey buddy, what did you said back then? How many army and civilian students are in this school?
Sahib: Army students 334 and civilian students 145.
Anish: There you have it, we are gonna compete everyone against each other in the upcoming exams. You guys have a handicap in numbers so we are gonna count it statically. And in the upcoming inter school sports competition too.
Shravan: And in the upcoming fair and the election too.
Anish: Very well.
Shravan: And we are all gonna be compete honestly. If any member is caught cheating then that should mean that they have acknowledged the other team the winner, hence they stooped to that level.
Anish: We don’t need to cheat to win against you, we are gonna crush you anyway.
Ved: But what if you guys framed us of cheating, how can we trust you guys?
Anish glares at him, he looks down. Shravan sees this, he keeps staring at Anish for sometime.
Shravan: Anish is from a army family, they cares about honour. So I am gonna take this risk on his words that such incident won’t happen. Anish, I know you are a good leader, so I hope you can control your team on this regard. Can I have your words?
Anish: You have my word, and I don’t get back from my promise. But what about your buddy? From our earlier conversation it was clear she was on your side. But she is on our team, what if she fails us deliberately?
Suman, with Kanchan was standing there from the very beginning. She tries to speak but Shravan speaks before her.
Shravan: You have my word that Suman will do her best. Cause she knows that’s the way to support us, by doing this fairly.
Kanchan: Suman may not be in your team, but I am.
Devika: What are you taking Kanchan? You are one of us.
Kanchan: I’m only getting this treatment cause my uncle is in army. But my dad is not. What if one day you guys decide that’s make me a civilian.
Anish: We would never do that Kanchan.
Kanchan: That’s because you are friends with my sister. But I have seen the treatment happens with the civilian kids in this school. And I say that I support them.
Anish tries to say something but Shravan stops him.
Shravan: I think what Kanchan is trying to say that it should be up to the students to decide the team, there are a many students in this school, who may be from civilians back ground but uses the privileges through quota, having a relative in army. Didn’t your whole ideology was you are from a family whose member is in Army so that makes you different because of the atmosphere? Well we say we are all students, equal. You beg to differ. Then how about let all the students decide which side they are on, those who are directly not from a army family but you are counting them in your group. And then we complete and come to a conclusion.
Both the team looks on.
Next: Everyone prepares for exam.
