Part 15:
In the morning Advay woke up with an immense headache and his hand was also hurting. At first, when he opened his eyes, he quickly closed them as he found the light piercing his eyes. He again tried to open his eyes slowly this time and felt a soft hand rested against his chest and another rested upon his head which was rested on someone’s lap rather than on his pillows, when he looked at the source of his comfort he was stunned to see Chandni sleeping in a half lying position resting against the headboard.
(Note: Guys I like to express the feelings of characters with the songs that fit the situation, so here is another one I thought to be perfect for Advay and Chandni.)
Say Something by A Great Big World Featuring Christina Aguilera
“Say something, I’m giving up on you
I’ll be the one if you want me to
Anywhere I would’ve followed you
Say something, I’m giving up on you” Something tugged at his heart “what is she doing here? Why I’m resting in her lap?” he was confused at what would have transpired between them in the night. He tried to get up which also woke up Chandni, he looked at her with guarded expression trying his best to hide his emotions from her, she looked at him and with a natural impulse she moved closer to him to check on him. “Advay are you okay? Is your head hurting? Are you feeling pain in your hand?” she asked him in a concerned voice while touching his forehead gently.
“And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all
And I will stumble and fall
I’m still learning to love
Just starting to crawl” Chandni felt that there was something in his eyes but what was it? Was it pain, guilt, regret or was he suffering and burning in his own hell? He held her hand and moved it from his forehead, gradually Chandni noticed that all expressions were gone from his eyes and his face was expressionless. The next moment she could feel him tightening his grip on her hand to the point of hurting her. “What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you that I don’t need your help or sympathy? Have you forgotten what I have done to you or do you want me to remind you?” he asked her in a menacing and dangerous voice.
“Say something, I’m giving up on you
I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you
Anywhere I would’ve followed you
Say something, I’m giving up on you” Chandni didn’t say anything to him just kept on looking at him with mixed emotions of shock and hurt. Shocked because she wasn’t able to understand what just happened to him now and hurt on his atrocity to remind her of that dreadful day when he ruined her life.
“And I will swallow my pride
You’re the one that I love
And I’m saying goodbye
Say something, I’m giving up on you
And I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you
And anywhere, I would’ve followed you
Say something, I’m giving up on you
Say something, I’m giving up on you
Say something…” On the other hand Advay was loathed with himself for hurting her again and again, but he saw it as the only way to keep her away from him, he couldn’t let her in, he couldn’t let her care for him, he couldn’t let her forgive him and above he couldn’t let her be his savior for it will be too easy for him. He wanted to punish himself by keeping her away from him, by making her hate him because her being away from him and her hatred for him was his own personal hell and he needed to burn in it to repent for his sin, he was determined to not let himself get off the hook so easily. “What’s the matter with you Chandni cat got your tongue?” he asked her sarcastically but she still didn’t reply him. He held her from her shoulders “I’m talking to you damn it, answer me” he barked at her, Chandni flinched at the pain his steely grip was causing to her shoulders and looked up at him with tear-drenched eyes. Advay felt like his heart had been torn to pieces he quickly let go off her shoulders “go away from here, just go away Chandni” he told her in a broken voice. Chandni still didn’t say anything to him but she also didn’t move from her place. He felt her moving closer to him “Advay your head and hand are badly injured, you need a change of the dressing otherwise it will get septic” she told him in a calm voice. He was now finding it hard to resist her caring nature or shutting her out but he had to do it as if his life had depended on it “why do you care if my wounds get septic? What will be the worst scenario if they do get septic, nothing more than me dying at the end… Wouldn’t it make you happy if I die, after all, I’m a monster who had ruined your life” he told her with a bitter smile on his face!
