Veteran actress Shashikala passed away at the age of 88. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar, Lata Mangeshkar paid homage and expressed grief over their social media accounts.
She passed away on 4th April while she was at her residence. There is no official confirmation from her family yet. She was known for her work in popular shows like Sonpari and Jeena Isi ka Naam Hai. She played daadi to Tooty Fruity in Sonpari.
Naved Jafri took to his Instagram and posted, “Our dear Shashikala Ji is no more. She was a great artist. May the almighty give the family strength and patience to bear this irreplaceable loss. Deepest condolences. #ShashiKala #RIPShashikala.”
Rohit Bose Roy took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Shashikala ji… RIP.”
Shashikala who was born in August 1932 made a mark with her performance in both positive and negative roles in Bollywood films as well as small screen. She has featured in over 100 films. She will always be remembered for her amazing performance in hits like ‘Khubsoorat’, ‘Anupama’ and ‘Ayi Milan Ke Bela’, ‘Badshah’ to name a few.
Shashikala was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2007, for her contribution to cinema. She was a disciple of Mother Teresa and led a beautiful life.
