We all have read about how the entire cast of Hamari Bahu Silk had to deal with delay in payments and how they were protesting and doing everything they could to get their money back. The show’s lead Zaan Khan had hit the streets at least twice to demand justice when he waged a silent protest against the show’s producers- Devyani Rale, Sudhanshu Tripathi and Jyoti Gupta.
CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) Chairperson Amit Behl and IFTPC (Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association) Chairman JD Majethia made efforts to get the producers to make their payments but it seemed like they too were not able to help much.
The show’s lead actress Chahat Pandey had left for her hometown Damoh (in Madhya Pradesh) a little after the lockdown began, absolutely frustrated.
Finally, Zaan, Chahat and the rest have been paid. “A few suppliers are yet to be paid, though,” says a source. The payment has been made to the tune of about 70 per cent of the due amount. The producers claimed losses and the cast and crew decided to meet them on middle ground.
When contacted, Majethia said, “It took us a long time to get this done. But one fine day, we got the actors, producers and broadcaster under one roof and settled the matter once and for all. We heard both the parties and made them see light what was best for them in the existing situation.”
Behl too confirmed, saying, “It is good that it was eventually settled amicably.”
Talking to ETimes TV, Chahat said, “We are relieved. We were asking what was our right and the wait was nothing short of a torture. It was terribly irritating as well. Anyway, it’s fine that we got at least 70 per cent of our dues.”
