Gaurav Amlani’s Remarkable Journey: From Khanderao Holkar in ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai’ to a College Student in Upcoming Web Series

Gaurav Amlani, renowned for portraying Khanderao Holkar in the notable series ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai,’ talked about the remarkable trajectory of his career in a recent interview. Securing the pivotal role of Khanderao was no easy feat for Amlani, requiring seven years of patience and persistence. Despite venturing into films and OTT platforms during this period, he found himself typecast into roles predominantly depicting a Sikh boy. Realizing the need for a change, Amlani underwent a deliberate transformation in appearance, only to face the challenges of starting anew.

The onset of the pandemic added a layer of complexity to Amlani’s journey, making it difficult to turn down projects due to financial implications. His personal life was not untouched, with the loss of a family member to COVID-19 and financial hardships. Amlani candidly shares moments of self-doubt and contemplation about returning to his hometown in Delhi during this challenging phase.

However, destiny had different plans, and in September 2021, he received the life-changing call for ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai.’ The role not only revitalized his career but also brought a spiritual transformation. Post his portrayal of Khanderao, Amlani took a hiatus to spend quality time with his family and recently entered a new chapter in his personal life by getting married.

Now, Amlani is gearing up for new challenges, having declined historical and mythological show offers to avoid being confined to a specific image. He has signed on for a web series, collaborating with the same producers who gave him his debut show. In this series, he will be portraying a college student, presenting a fresh opportunity to delve into the complexities of a younger character on screen. Despite expanding into OTT and films, Amlani expresses enduring gratitude for television, acknowledging it as the platform that paved the way for his recognition as a working and earning actor.
