Chapter 10
Everyone in the Maheshwari family gathered in dining are and sat on the dining table. Ragini who was descending the stairs looked at them. “Ragini also came. Come beta” said Annapurna and signed her to join them.
“No Aunty. I will have it later” said Ragini hesitating. Her gaze moved to Sanskar who sat beside Laksh. They were engrossed in some deep conversation. ‘His actions confuse me of his feelings. How can someone hate a person so much and sit so naturally beside them without squeezing their neck’ she blinked her eyes. Sanskar moved his gaze feeling her stare on him and she narrowed her eyes at him.
He relaxed back on his chair as the smirk played on his lips. ‘He is so cool’ her heart spoke and she shook her head landing back to reality. ‘Though he wasn’t mad but surely he will make me one someday’ she thought as she was pulled by Annapurna.
Annapurna glanced all over the dining table only to find an empty spot beside Sanskar. She smiled and made Ragini sit there. “No…. no aunty. I’m okay. I will have later” she immediately got up feeling her nervousness to sit beside him. “Arrey sit beta” said Anu making her sit again.
“Ohho Badi Maa. She is scared of Swara Bhabi’s food I bet. That’s why trying to escape and want us to be the victim of it” Swara who was walking outside the kitchen with a smile stopped her steps. Ragini looked at her sister who was hell nervous.
“You are so mean” she glared Sanskar. “Swara cooks really well alright. And you will see that now” she held her chin up proudly. “Oh then what’s your problem? Sit and taste the food with us but no you are behaving like she has added some poison in the food” he smirked at her.
“My problem is you Mr. Maheshwari” she whispered lowly to him. “Oh my my. I never knew my closeness effects you Ms. Gadodia” he leaned to her ear and his hot breath sent shivers down her spine.
She turned her gaze to look into his hazel eyes and time seemed stationed there. She sighed and her breath hit his face and the fragrance made his mind numb.
She sat straightening herself. Swara smiled at everyone and served all the food she prepared. All had the first byte and smiled as the taste satisfied their taste bud. Ragini gave a wide winning smile to her sister who returned her a thank you. “Ragini beta have it” said Annapurna and Ragini nodded her head and was about to move her hand.
She stopped and struggled to bring her hand up. “What happened Ragini beta?” asked Sujata. She gave her a nervous smile and nodded her head. She again tried to take her hand up but could not. Sanskar smirked holding her hand more tightly and pinned it to the chair and having the food from the right hand of his.
Ragini sighed and moved her left hand and held the spoon. “Ladoo. You are not khabbu(left handed) na then?” asked Swara looking at Ragini. ‘Like you behave smart at very wrong times Swara seriously’ her jaws twitched. She smiled at Swara trying to cover her annoyance.
“Actually that hand is hurt so” she said and Sanskar muffled his laughter covering that lips of his behind his right hand which held the spoon. She sighed closing her eyes as she felt his mocking gaze on her.
She struggled in his hold. Finally when he did not even had the wrinkle on his forehead she thought of something and placed the spoon back on the table. She glared Sanskar with her flared up nose for a last time and he just flashed that winning smile to her.
She pinched his hand with all her force and he dragged his hand away wincing with pain and waved it up in the air and blow his breath on it.
It had turned pink in that area. Ragini brought her hand up and held the spoon and covered it to cloak her smirk. She nuzzled her nose and folded her lips to control her laugh.
“What happened?” asked Sujata worried approaching him. He looked at Ragini anger filling his eyes. “Chinti maa. With very sharp nails perhaps” said he glaring Ragini. She swallowed the food in her mouth and looked at him controlling her laugh.
“Sanskar chinti uses teeth to byte not nails” her lips twitched mocking him. “But this one was a modern though” he said rubbing his hand.
“Pagal hogaya hai tu?” asked Suijata hitting at the back of his head. “And moreover it is Maheshwari mansion which undergoes pest control every month so you think any chinti can survive this?” Ragini asked with innocent expression on her face.
“Nai beta. Lagta hai iske dimag me ghuss gayi hai chintiya” said Sujata nodding her head which made Ragini chuckle. As her eyes moved to Sanskar who was glaring her. ‘And that’s what I call tit for tat’ she moved her brows proudly. Huffing deeply he moved his eyes away.
All giggled and continued with their food. And finally Swara’s Rasoi rasam went smooth.
“Sanskar beta. Won’t you come with us?” asked Ram standing at the hall when all the men were ready to leave for office. DP had a neutral face and Sanskar looked at him.
“Dad I have my own business which I will be handling from here. I don’t think you will appreciate if I join you people” said he and moved his gaze to Ram.
“He is right Ram” said DP. “And moreover it’s your rivalry company” said Sanskar with a slight smirk which he covered before anyone can notice that.
But Ragini noticed it and she was confused how can he be so normal even though he is burning inside.
“As you wish” Ram walked sad behind his elder brother whom he has followed like a true follower all life and did not wanted to disobey him now also.

Ragini was lost in her own thoughts when Swara shook her. “Where are you lost?” she asked as she folded the clothes on the terrace. “I’m not lost” said she covering her expressions.
They heard a music. “Guitar?” Swara’s eyes widened in realization. “Who plays guitar here? As far as I know DP uncle doesn’t like music” said she and they moved in the direction from where the music waves hit them.
There was this small balcony attached to the terrace on its other part. There stood someone whose back was facing them.

Swara danced with the tune where as Ragini just stared. As the figure turned they realized it was Sanskar who looked at them surprised.
Swara clapped happily as he finished. He smiled at her and then his eyes moved to dumbstruck Ragini. “I haven’t heard such bad voice from ages” she rolled her eyes walking away from there.
“Ladoo… Ladoo” Swara called behind her. She moved her gaze to Sanskar who stood blank. “Oh she is like that. Don’t mind but you sang really well” said she smiling at him.
“Thank you Bhabi” he caressed his neck. “I feel like I have aged without intimation” she chuckled and he smiled at her.
“Come on Lado he sang so good like awesome. Don’t you have taste for the good music?” Swara asked entering the room behind Ragini.
“That was music? Really? I felt like he was crying more precisely a street dog was crying” Ragini sat on the bed nodding her head.
“You are so mean to him” said Swara sitting beside her. “I don’t care if it hurts him. I just know one thing” she stopped herself. ‘That he deserves more than this’ her mind spoke and was interrupted when Swara shook her.
“And what’s that one thing?” asked Swara. “That… um” she did not found a proper response. “He is a jerk” came out of her mouth.
“Gosh Ragu. What’s wrong with you? You are calling such a sweet person as a jerk? See what he gave me as a nek on my first Rasoi” Swara forwarded a box having a watch. Ragini looked at it confused.
“Just because he gifted his Bhabi the watch on her Rasoi he won’t become the Massiha” said Ragini waving her hands in air.
“You are really mean to him” said Swara and walked away from there. “And once I form an opinion about someone even though they jump off the building I’m not gonna believe them ever” said Ragini determined. She nodded her head and lied on the bed to take the nap after she drank the juice on the side table.
She felt air on her face. It was cool. Her eyebrows narrowed as she so knew there was no AC in her room. As she moved her hand she felt it hanging like she was in air.
She opened her eyes and found herself really in air. She was leaning backward on the edge of the terrace. Her tongue was numb and voice box dead as she tried screaming but could not.
She moved her gaze up where Sanskar was smirking holding her one hand. She blinked her eyes to make sure that she was not dreaming.
“How about you being pushed off the building?” he bent his head and that devil face sent shivers down her spine. “Leave me” she struggled in his hold.
“I… mean… don’t leave me” she realized where she was hanging. “Oh don’t worry. Even if you want I’m not gonna leave you” said he nodding his head.
She felt that honesty in his eyes for the first time. “Are you insane?” she asked him still looking back of her.
“No I’m just trying to change your opinion on me” said he and she rolled her eyes. “And is this the way to do that?” asked she glaring him. “Oh is it then what’s the right way? Shall I drop you?” he asked acting innocent.
“No…. no no” she said and held his hand tightly. “Pull me up” she ordered. “I did not hear please” he forwarded his ear. “Ahhh” she cussed unhappy.
“Was that please? Sorry the wind is too loud say it a bit louder” said he and she sighed.
“Sanskar can you pull me up with your Super man powers please” she said each word suppressing her anger which was on the verge of bursting. He smirked and pulled her up and her head landed on his hard chest.
“Ouw. Was that some stone from the stone age?” she pointed at his chest. “Thanks for the compliment Ms. Gadodia” he gave her a boyish grin. “And what the hell is wrong with you? Why are you doing all this?” asked she as she was panting for breath and was trying to get out of the shock.
“So that your fears keep you away from me” he leaned to her ear and whispered deadly. His subtle touched her jaw and she closed her eyes feeling the cool breeze around her. He walked from there leaving her to process her thoughts.
The sun had set and it was dinner time when all the Maheshwari family settled on dining table. Ragini moved swiftly and sat beside Uttara where Ram was about to sit. She gave him a sheepish smile and he smiled back at her. He moved to the seat beside Sanskar.
That’s like the chicken heart Ragini’ he smirked at her. She did not look at him but continued her dinner.
After the dinner all settled in the hall for a round of Paan. “Aunty” Ragini called Annapurna. She looked at Ragini with her sweet smile.
“Can you do me a favor please?” asked she with those innocent eyes. Annapurna nodded her head in yes.
“I get bored at home all the time as people don’t let me work at all” she complained. “Because you are our guest” Annapurna caressed her cheek.
“So I thought if you ask Sanskar to appoint me in his company as a trainee. Anyways his Kolkota office will be ready by tomorrow.”
Sanskar coughed hearing her and Sujata rushed to him and patted on his head. All the eyes moved to him. “Please” she looked at Annapurna with those puppy eyes and Sanskar so knew his Badi Maa will melt with Ragini’s those antics.
“Why in Bhai’s company? You can be in Maheshwari company instead” said Laksh and got glares from DP.
“I would love to but Laksh Karma industry is at it’s initial phase and I will learn a lot of things” said she looking at Laksh who nodded his head.
“Don’t worry Sanskar will take you with him from tomorrow to his new office” Annapurna flashed her warm smile and Ragini surprised her with a hug.
She then dragged herself away. Annapurna smiled at her blessing her. After the session in the hall all walked to their rooms.
Ragini was in the hallway near her room. When she pushed the door her arm felt a strong pull and she was pinned to the wall. Sanskar locked her on the either side and she looked at him breathing heavily.
“I warned you to stay away from me. Don’t you understand?” he hissed. She smirked looking up at him.
“Even if you want I wont” she leaned to him and he looked at her with narrowed eye brows. There was no second thought that he was affected by her presence. She made him feel those feelings which he had locked deep down his heart.
He moved a bit away from her and stumbled back. She held his elbow and he looked up at her. “And that’s like chicken heart Sanskar Maheshwari” she gave him a pity look.
She dropped him and he landed on the ground straight. He held his paining back. She bent to his height with that smirk still playing on her lips.
“And my actions will not change even if you were hanging from the building Mr. Maheshwari and now count the days when you will be exposed in front of your own family whom you are cheating shamelessly” “You” he tried grabbing her neck but she straightened herself.
“You and your partner think you can fool me? Like I won’t know it when Swara said you saved her. Like I wont realize you were standing in front of me when I got hit on the back of my head” he looked at her shocked.
“Too much for the Ragini you know right?” said Ragini rubbing her chin. He fumed and held his fist tight.
“And now count your days. The day is not far when you will be thrown out of here” she crossed her arms and twitched her jaws.
“In your dreams” he said walking to the door annoyed. “And I know dreams come true” said she and he closed his eyes annoyed.
“And all the best Mr. Sanskar Ramprasad Maheshwari” she said and he banged the door behind him and she smirked.
“Good job” she heard a voice and her shocked expression changed to a smile when she turned.
