Chapter 4
Can I have this Dance ?!!

It was the day of the dance competition. Naira and Karthik had practiced a lot for it. They were very excited. Their joy seemed no bound.

There was still some time left for their turn to arrive. Naira was very nervous for her chance and in that nervousness she held Karthik’s hand tightly, unknowingly.

A cold breeze passed through Karthik. He was still for some seconds. He gazed Naira continuously. He wanted everyone to vanish for a couple of hours so that he could stare at her like that.

Sudennly Naira shook his hand to bring him back to earth. He looked at her, confusion written all over his face while she looked at him as if he was mad.

“Karthik, they are announcing our names. Let us go.” She said and pulled at his hand.

Finally they were on the stage. The song started playing in the background and Karthik forwarded his hand towards her. She smiled and gave her hand in his.

“Take my hand, take a breath,
Pull me close and take one step,
Keep your eyes locked to mine,
And let the music be your guide.”

Karthik while dancing could not take off his eyes from her. While on the other hand Naira was turning all red from blushing as his gaze never left her.

“Won’t you promise me,
That you will never forget,
We will keep dancing,
Wherever we go next.
Its like catching lightning,
The chances of finding someone like you,
Its one in a million,
The chances of feeling the way we do,
And with every step together,
We just keep on getting better,
So can I have this dance ?!!”

Karthik spined her around him in a full circle while Naira just laughed whole heartly. They were completely engrosed in the dance and were enjoying every moment of it.

“No mountains too high,
And no oceans too wide,
Cause together or not,
Our dance won’t stop,
Let it rain let it pour,
What we have is worth fighting for,
You know I believe that we were meant to be.
Its like catching lightning,
The chances of finding someone like you,
Its one in a million,
The chances of feeling the way we do,
And with every step together,
We just keep on getting better,
So can I have this dance ?!!”

As the music came to an end, Karthik and Naira finished their dance as gracefully as they had started it. Naira noticed someone in the crowd. She stood still. Her eyes widened. She could not move further.

She was only staring at that person.Tears rolled down her face. She ran to the changing room. She cried loudly there in the silence. Karthik came there searching for her. She was still crying.

Seeing him she wiped her tears. Karthik gave her some water to drink.

“What happened ?!! Why you left the dance stage ?!! You were very eager to win, right ?!!” He asked her totally confused by her actions. Naira brust out crying.

“Naira, please don’t cry. I will not ask you if you don’t want to say.” He said watching her condition worsen with every question.

“I am not crying because of you. I am crying because of him.” She said finally.

“Him ?!! Who ?!!” He asked her.

“Rithvik, my old friend. We were in the same school. He was the most popular guy of our school. Even I had a crush on him but I never told him. One day while I was in the library he came and sat close to me. He said that he was following me since many days. When I asked him why, he told that he loves me. He proposed me that day. I was very happy because my crush was proposing me. Our relationship was very good till the 11th grade. But then he grew all possesive. He used to beat up all the boys who used to talk to me. He stalked me and blackmailed me to be with him.”

Naira’s voice quivered as she was narrating all these. Tears rolled down from her eyes.

“You are a very brave girl. You need not worry. I am always there for you.” He said holding her hands in his.

“I know. I never shared this with anyone. But I am sharing this with you.” She said and smiled lightly at him.

Karthik felt happy that she shared this with him. But he was also sad because she had loved someone else apart from him. But then he was only so glad and happy to have her by his side that he forgot everything else.

Any High school musical fans over here ?!! Well the song is from the movie’s third part. Its a lovely song and I would recomend all of you to hear it, incase you haven’t.

Tried to make it a bit longer than the previous one. But I know its still short. Well can’t help it, you guys need to bear with these short updates till my exams are going on.

Todays episode was really sweet with Naira – Naitik going all emotional. I am sure every girl out there would have felt what Naira was feeling. Also I was glad in a way that Naira wasn’t the one to reveal aditya’s true face. The truth needs to come out, but it should be Keerti who would do it. She needs to be strong and not dependent on anyone for opposing the wrong that’s happening with her.

Glad that the CV’s didn’t make Naira a ‘Mahan’ figure by exposing aditya and giving the credit to her. Afterall every person should face their problems on their own !!
