Hello STRANGER! : A Swasan One Shot

Hello guys. I’m Anu, writer of “Fixing Broken Souls : A Swasan Fanfic”
I’m just trying for OS. And trust me I’m really bad at it. Like really. But still just giving it a try. Please forgive me if you don’t like this!

So the title is “Hello Stranger.”

Sanskar’s pov~~

The music blasted through the speakers. There was a bitter burning sensation down my throat as I gulped down five shots of tequila at once. Ah. . .they didn’t taste so good. The world around me spun, and everything I had eaten, was about to make its way out of my system.

f**k. . .

“Bro, are you okay?” I heard someone shout over music. Must be Laksh; but I couldn’t clearly see him.

“Sanskar yaar! Why do you drink when you can’t handle?” He asked.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to find the washroom. I could throw up literally like. . .anytime! I blew him off and ran towards the washroom. Thank God, it wasn’t locked. I barged in and threw up everything I had in my system.

But while doing so I heard a shriek from the back. Wasn’t I alone? I wondered. f**k. . .

I felt much, much, much lighter after throwing up. I flushed and sighed, resting on my knees. I knew, I was not capable of handling the tequila. And yet, I drank. Sometimes, I hate myself.

“Are you okay?” A soft voice spoke from my back; startling me. So yeah, I basically forgot that I wasn’t really alone. I looked back to see a girl, sitting on a little chair against the door. She was cute. . .petit, long black hair and gorgeous eyes. And I could feel nothing but more embarrassment as I watched her smiling at me.

I had thrown up and made a complete fool of myself in front of this girl.

“Hello! Are you okay?” She asked again, laughing. She looked drunk as well. Who was I kidding? Everyone in this party was as high as f**k. I just nodded.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have barged in like that. Its just tequila.” I said, getting up.

“Hmmm. Its okay. Wash your face, you’ll feel better.” She smiled. She was too sweet. Maybe it was the alcohol doing the talking. Otherwise, which girl doesn’t run away from washroom in which a creep like me is throwing up. Nevertheless, I washed my face a multiple times. She was right; I did feel better.

“Here.” She handed me her dry handkerchief.

“Thanks.” I said. She laughed.

What was so funny? I wondered. But then again, alcohol does such things to a person when he or she tends to laugh or smile without a reason. And if you’re not drunk and still smiling idiotically, you’re surely in love.

“I’m sorry again. I didn’t mean to barge in. I was –” Just as I decided to be decent and apologize, she started laughing again.

Okay. . .maybe I was dealing with a maniac.

A cute maniac.

Whatever.!

“Dude! It’s okay. It happens. So chill, mint?” She asked, handing me a pack of mints. I took a couple and popped them in my mouth. She grinned.

“Anyway who are you?” She asked.

“I came with Laksh. You know, Laksh? Its his house party.” I replied. And I don’t know why, but I casually took a seat in front of her. Although, she looked a little baffled.

“Laksh. . .who?” She asked. “I own this house and I don’t know any Laksh.” She stated.

What the f**k. . .

A lot of questions popped in my mind. Laksh was one little liar. And if getting me to this party (where no one knew anyone) which he claimed was his; was a lie, then I was not going to spare that guy alive.

“But Laksh said me that he –” And again she cut me off.

“Who’s Laksh? I don’t know him.” She stated. “Did you like gatecrash or something?” She asked.

I was out of words.

I didn’t know what to reply with. I hadn’t gatecrashed, but she thought I had. And I swear, I had never faced such a situation in my life. I wanted to slaughter Laksh then and there. But before that, I had to explain the situation to this girl, who now shot daggers at me.

I fumbled with my words as both of us stared at each other for a couple of minutes. And then . . . again . . .

She laughed. . .

I was beyond confused. She was laughing like every now and then. Not that I didn’t like it cause her laugh was cute. Just like her. But I soon focussed on what she meant by that evil laughter.

“I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry, so so so so sorry!!! I was just kidding. Its April month and this was just an April fool prank. . . I’m sorry man!” She laughed.

I heaved a sigh of relief.

Jesus. . . I almost had a heart attack.

I rolled my eyes and chuckled.

“Oh God. . . Are you fine?” She asked. I nodded.

“Oh and by the way Laksh is my –” She was about to finish her sentence when the door burst open. And this time some guy barged in, directly making her way to the pot.

And here it goes. . .

He threw up. . .

I made a face. But soon realized that the ‘guy’ was none other than my friend – Laksh.

“Laksh?” She spoke.

He sighed after puking out everything and flushed. He looked up at me first and then her eyes darted towards the stranger girl. Shit, I didn’t even know her name.

“What are you doing here with him?” He asked.

“We were about to take a shower.” She spoke, making me choke on air.

What is going on?

Laksh almost threw up again as the stranger laughed. Harder this time, leaving me confused.

“That was a joke.” She stated. “Well, Laksh is my brother. And yeah, he doesn’t own the house. We do.” She explained.

So she was Laksh’s sister. . .

That explains the craziness.

“Oh. Oh okay. I didn’t know that.” I stated the obvious, as Laksh stood up on his feet.

“You guys, you better not be serious about taking that shower. Come out, man. The party’s not over yet!” She said, walking out like he was completely fine. Meanwhile, I felt drained. I sighed.

“What’s your name?” She asked do quickly that I could barely catch it.

“Hmmm. Sorry?” I asked.

“Your name. . .” She said. She was smiling all along. Slightly tilting her head to one side.

“Sanskar.” I said, pressing my lips together in a thin line.

“I’m Swaraaa.” She said.

“Swaraaa? Is that a nickname?”

“No. Its my name.” She chuckled. “Come?” She gestured me to head out with her. I followed her out as she grabbed two beers from the table and handed one to me. I was hesitant to take it after throwing up. But she smiled and urged me to take it; saying beer was okay.

Next we headed out to the lawn where the music drained. It was chilly. The lawn was beautifully decorated in lights. And under a little canopy, we sat, sipping on our drinks.

“So. . . Sanskar, what do you do?” She asked. I was a little taken aback by that question. No one really asked me that, since they already knew who I was. But maybe she didn’t. . .and believe it or not, for once, it felt good to be unrecognized by someone.

“I do acting.” I simply stated.

“Woh theek hai. But what do you do, as in for a living?” She asked.

“Uh. . . I’m an actor. A Bollywood actor.” I chuckled. I felt so new, answering to this kind of question.

“Really? That’s cool.” She replied taking me by surprise again.

Either she was pretending to be cool with me being famous, or she really didn’t give a f**k about who I was. Both of them didn’t make me feel good. But she was unique for sure. She didn’t look like she cared much, when I told her that I was a Bollywood actor. And that kinda made me feel good. . .in place, rather. I was happy to not receive the special treatment from her.

“What do you do?” I asked, moving on.

“I study fashion designing. Here in Mumbai itself. I actually shifted from London just a week ago.” She replied.

From there on things didn’t got uncomfortable between us. We spoke about anything and everything.

No. . .not those silly talks about our careers and stuff. But yeah, I didn’t mind saying that I loved her company. She was cute, bubbly and not to forget. . .too damn funny. She was perfect.

After hours of chit chat, I looked at the watch and realized that I had to go.

“I had fun.” She said with a smile.

“Me too.”

She nodded, gently biting her bottom lip. I couldn’t tear away my gaze from those lips. I wanted to feel them, kiss them. . .kiss her. But I didn’t want to ruin that little bond of ours. I was a decent guy, and not someone who kissed girls after getting wasted.

“So. . .bye?” She spoke with a little frown and turned around to walk back into the house. I mentally cursed myself.

Ugh! What do I do? Kiss her? Let her go?

I wanted to kiss her. It may sound crazy, but this feeling was ignited by the alcohol in my body. I debated with myself as she was walking back inside.

Sanskar. . . . . . Why are you so complicated!

I finally decided to follow my heart ♥

f**k this. . . . I’m doing it. . . .

“Swaraaa?” I called out.

She turned around. “Yes, Sanskar?”

I certainly couldn’t say — ‘Hey, kiss me.’ I had to make a move. But before that, I wasn’t sure whether she reciprocated my feelings or not.

I walked a few steps forward, and stood inches away from her. She looked up at me as a chilled breeze blew. She had her head falling over her face. I gently tucked it behind her ear and looked at her luscious lips.

What if she doesn’t like it? What if you come out as a jerk? Damn you . . . Sanskar. . .you’ve taken the first step. But what next?!?!

I froze in my spot, arguing with my own self. And before I could even process everything and settle on a decision, she planted her lips on mine.

Oh.

I was taken aback. And as much as I wanted to carry this thing forward, I hated it when she moved back after pressing her lips on mine for a couple of seconds. That wasn’t even a kiss. It was just a peck.

I cleared my throat and moved back awkwardly.

“That’s it?” I asked, stopping myself from smiling like an idiot due to that one moment. She smiled and shrugged.

“Yeah.” She giggled. I swear, her cuteness was too much for me to handle. “But um. . .maybe, maybe we could carry this tomorrow, when we’re both sober.” She said.

I chuckled. “Trust me. I’m gonna want that tomorrow as much as I want it now. It has nothing to do with me being drunk or whatever.”

She laughed. “We’ll see.”

“Yup.” I said popping the ‘p’. “We’ll see. So, tomorrow? Coffee?” I asked.

“Okay! CCD. . . 12 pm.?” She asked. I nodded.

I smiled and pulled her into a hug.

“Bye.” She said.

“Hmmm. Bye. Good night, Swaraaa.” I chuckled, feeling her getting tensed under my grip.

“Good night.” She smiled.and walked back into the house.

Once she was out of house, I pumped my fist in the air. I was talking a girl out. . .and to me she was just perfect. I guess, I liked her. A lot.

**Four years later. . .**

Four years have passed. I and Swara were going strong. I never said an “I love you” to her, though. But we both knew, we had feelings for each other.

I was at the awards night. Yes, I was going to receive the Best Actor award for my film. It was a proud moment for me.

“And the award goes to Mr. Sanskar Kapoor!!” The host announced. I walked on the stage and received the award. It was time for my thanks giving speech.

“I would like to thank my director Durga Prasad Maheshwari and my co star Ragini Gadodia.”

“But most importantly I would like to thank this Stanger in my life. The day she walked into my life. . . I knew, she was trouble. She was something else altogether. I am in love with her, head over heels, since the very first time I saw her. At first, I didn’t realize it and hid my feelings behind the word ‘like’. But as we spent time together I realized I didn’t like her. I loved her fosho. I never knew how to say these three words to her. It is pretty easy to say all these in movies, but when you’ve to say this in reality, its pretty difficult. Everytime, I tried, I fumbled with my words, making a fool out of myself in front of her. But now I want to tell her in front of the whole world, that I’m in love with her! I’m in love with the way you talk, the way her smile, the way you laugh. I’m in love with every single thing about her!”

“We’ve been through a lot of things. The fights, the hate, the crazy fans, jealousy and what not. . . But she’s a strong, independent and intelligent girl. And I just want her to know, that I want to love her till my last breath.”
I finished my proposal. Long speech rather?

“And may we all know, who’s this stranger?” The host asked, pulling my leg. The whole world knew who I was talking about. She also knew I was about her. She was on the front row staring right into my eyes.

“Ragini Gadodia.” I chuckled. The moment, her name came out of my mouth, you should’ve seen Swara’s face. It turned pale. Like she was dead.

I started laughing like a maniac.

“Baby, what month is it?” I asked, wriggling my eyebrows, looking in Swara’s direction.

I guess, she realized it was April month and smiled.

“April fool, Miss Swara Roy.” I smirked.

She walked towards the stage and hugged me. “I love you too.” She whispered in my ears, sending shivers down my spine.

We walked out, and kissed under the starlight, marking the beginning of a perfect beginning of our life. . . Swasan’s life. . .

That was our love story. Hello Stranger to I love you to eternity. . . ♥♥ and to Swasan. . .
