Hussain Kuwajerwala Reflects on the Evolution of Hosting on Indian Idol: From Serious to Interactive

Indian Idol has served as a platform to introduce fresh voices to the Indian music industry, voices that will resonate for generations. The latest season of the show features a distinguished judging panel with National Award winner Shreya Ghoshal, Bollywood’s King of Melody Kumar Sanu, and the versatile composer/singer Vishal Dadlani coming together to nurture and mentor the contestants.

Amidst the excitement of the judging panel’s return, fans of the show have another reason to rejoice. After an absence of 8 long years, Hussain Kuwajerwala is back as the host for Season 14. The season’s campaign, titled “Ek Awaaz, Lakhon Ehsaas,” spotlights that one magical voice that will evoke a myriad of emotions, premiering on October 7th at 8 pm.

Hussain Kuwajerwala talked about it in a recent interview, sharing his enthusiasm about returning as the host for this beloved format, expressed, “This season of the show truly will be ‘music ka sabse bada tyohaar’ (the grandest music festival), and I am so happy to return to Indian Idol, which has given me so much recognition in my earlier days in the industry. I truly enjoy listening to the raw talent that we find from across the length and breadth of the country, and being a part of their journey is an extremely rewarding experience.”

Reflecting on the evolving role of a host over the years, Hussain shared, “As a host, my biggest responsibility today is to put the contestants at ease and to create a positive environment for them so that they aren’t nervous and perform to their best potential. But the biggest transition from then to now is that instead of hosting being serious, it’s now more about interacting with judges, special guests, and the audience. We’ve begun shooting the initial phase of the show, and working with Shreya, Vishal, and Kumar Da has been wonderful.”

Hussain Kuwajerwala’s return to Indian Idol marks a significant moment for the show and its viewers, as they can anticipate a season filled with incredible talent, heartwarming moments, and a host who knows how to create a positive and interactive atmosphere for both contestants and the audience.
