Imlie fame Megha Chakraborty shares her POV on the overuse of filters on social media
Actress Megha Chakraborty, who is currently essaying the lead role in Imlie is also an active user of social media. During a recent interview, the actress talked about the overuse of filters on social media and shared that she feels that using filters arises from a very intrinsic need to look pretty, and that is natural. She also shared that with time your body and looks change but one must be willing to accept how one looks as well.
Megha said, “As a public figure, it is difficult because along with time, changes come in your body. Sometimes you become very thin, sometimes you gain a lot. It is not always possible to maintain. Especially for a girl, there are many problems. But I think it is more important to take things very positively and accept them. And I think because of this, people have started using more filters. On social media, you look perfect, and your skin looks perfect and flawless. But I have also seen people who accept themselves the way they’re. They believe in themselves and they are quite real on social media as well. So, I think it differs from person to person. But I would still say that this can be the reason for over usage of filters but it’s not such a big issue.”
She added, “Normal people are also using filters. And it’s not like we are setting the wrong precedent for our followers or we are setting the wrong example for them. It’s just that we use it for fun. I myself use it for fun and go out without makeup. If I do not want to, I don’t use it. For example, if I meet a fan publicly somewhere, I’m not always wearing makeup. So, I think it’s important to love ourselves. And accept the changes. And filters are there and will always be there. It’s not a problem. And we shouldn’t judge anyone. It shouldn’t matter if anyone is using or not using the filters.”
