CHAPTER 37
OBEROI MANSION
Omkara’s room
Omkara is doing his painting but he can’t concentrate on it… He is very disturbed thinking about something… He stops his work and lie on his bed… He started to recall about yesterday…
Ishana’s room
Ishana is asked by Kalyani to decorate some plates which will be needed for the engagement… She is doing that but can’t focus on it… She too started to recall about yesterday’s event…
FLASHBACK A DAY BEFORE
IshKara are in the car on the way to his art gallery… Ishana sits silently looking outside… She recalls all her memories she spent with Dev… She smiles thinking about them… However, her smile vanished when the flashes of seeing him in pool of blood appear in her thoughts… She jerked from her sit… Omkara sees her and stops his car at the roadside…
Om: (holds her shoulder) Ishana, are you alright??
Ishu: (nods her head) Yes… I’m fine…
Omkara could realise that she is feeling restless thinking about Dev… He took a water bottle and makes her to drink it… She calmed after a while…
Om: Ishana, if you are not well, we will go back… We can go to art gallery another day… (Turns towards stirring to drive back)
Ishu: (holds his hand) It’s ok… I’m fine… We can go to your art gallery…
Om: Are you sure?? (Ishana gives a small smile and nods her head… He continues driving to his art gallery…)
IshKara reached art gallery… Omkara took her inside… Ishana is mesmerized looking at the art hub which designed creatively with beautiful paintings…
Ishu: It’s beautiful…
Om: Thank you…
Ishu: This must be designed by you, right?? I know it from looking at the paintings…
Om: (smiles) Not bad… You just saw few of my paintings but still you are remembering it… I’m impressed…
Ishu: Beautiful things can’t remove from someone heart and mind till forever… Just like your paintings which you done by heart…
Om: (impressed with her answer) Actually, I need to show you something… Come with me… (Takes her with him)
Omkara took her to a room which is having Gauri’s paintings everywhere… Ishana just looks around the room… Her eyes fixed on a statue which been covered with a cloth… Omkara took her towards the statue…
Ishu: (looks at him confusingly) Why did you bring me here??
Om: (smiles) Remove the cloth… (Ishana widen her eyes looking at him… He chuckles and turns her face towards the statue) I said remove the cloth from the statue…
Ishana removes the cloth from the statue and shocked to see Dev’s figure is carved as a statue… Tears are started flowing from her eyes… She turns towards Omkara who is smiling looking at her… Ishana holds his hand and cries…
Om: (stunned) You don’t like it?? I know it’s not that good but… (Ishana shakes her head and just hugs him making him confuse)
Ishu: (looks at him) It’s not good… (Omkara feels hurt) It’s too good and perfect… I just love it… (Omkara smiles happily listening to her)
Om: (wipes her tears) Then, what is this tears for??
Ishu: These are tears of happiness… I have no words to praise your talent… You lied to me that you can’t sculpt a person’s statue… But, you sculpt it beautifully… I’m speechless… I…. I….
Om: (smiles and shakes his head) Ok… Ok… Relax… (Ishana looks at him) I must thank you first for trusting me to make this sculpture… If you didn’t give me a chance, I will not realise that I can make a person’s sculpture… So, thanks to you…
Ishu: No, Mr Omkara… This talent is hidden in you… Maybe because no one asked you before, so you never got an opportunity to make a person’s sculpture… I have nothing to do with it…
Om: But, you are the one make me to realise it… (Ishana just smiles)
Ishu: (silent for a while) Actually, today is the day where Dev left me forever… (Omkara looks at her) Usually, I won’t go anywhere on this day and will lock myself in my room… But, today you bring me out and give me this wonderful gift… Thank you… Thank you very much… (Omkara smiles looking at her smiling face)
Om: It’s my pleasure for a beautiful girl like you… (Ishana is shocked with his statement… Omkara too didn’t expect that from himself… He tries to cover up…) I’ll send this sculpture to your house later… I need to do final touch up for this…
Ishu: Sure… What is the price for this?? (Omkara is surprised with her sudden question… He thought to give her for free but he knows that she won’t accept anything for free… He is confused what to answer her… Ishana looks at him lost somewhere… She shakes his shoulder…) Mr Omkara, Mr Omkara, (Omkara breaks his thought and looks at her) Where have you lost?? I’m asking what is the price for this statue??
Om: (gets an idea) I will tell the price while delivering it to you… You just need to give advance now…
Ishu: (opens her purse to take the money) Sure, Mr Omkara… Tell me how much?? (Omkara goes near her… Ishana just looks at him in confuse) Mr… (Omkara places his finger on her lip making her stunned)
Om: Omkara… No need Mr… This is the advance… (Ishana blushes slightly)
Ishu: It’s hard for me to call you like that because I used to call you like this…
Om: I don’t want to hear like this and like that… I only will accept your payment if you call me Omkara… (Smirks)
Ishu: (looks at him in surprise) I’ll try but I need sometime for that… (Feeling nervous)
Om: (smiles looking at her nervousness) Sure… Take your time… (Look at outside) I think better we leave now… It’s going to rain… (Ishana agrees and they leave from there)

IshKara come back from their flashback when someone knock their doors…
Omkara’s room
Omkara opens the door and see ShiRu… He invites them inside…
Shivaay: Are you alright, Om?? We noticed that you look disturbed since you come back yesterday…
Rudra: Yes, O… Anything bothering you?? You know, right?? There are no secrets between three of us… (Omkara thinks a while)
Shivaay: (understood his hesitation) You can tell us if anything disturbing your mind… We are not forcing you if you don’t want to tell us… You just relax first… Rudra, let’s go… (ShiRu move to leave)
Om: (holds their hands) I’m sorry, Shivaay… I’ll tell you… Sit first… (ShiRu sit beside him)
Shivaay: Ok… Tell us what is bothering you…
Om: I scolded her terribly yesterday… I feel bad for that…
Rudra: Who??
Om: Ishana… (ShiRu are shocked) I scolded her badly…
Shivaay: (surprised) What happened, Om?? I know you won’t do anything without reason… There must be something that made you to scold her…
Om: Actually, while coming back from art gallery yesterday….. (Started to narrate yesterday’s happenings)
IshMa’s room
Ishana opens the door and sees SwetMa… They walk inside…
Swet: Ishu, if you don’t mind can we ask you something??
Ishu: You have the rights to question me, anni… No need to ask permission… Just ask me…
Swet: Why you were late yesterday?? Rudra told us that both of you left the art gallery afternoon itself…
Madhu: And you are looking disturbed since you came back yesterday… (Ishana thinks a while and start narrating to them..)
Flashback after IshKara left art gallery
IshKara are in the car going back to Oberoi Mansion… Omkara is driving the car while Ishana is beside him smiling to herself… Omkara is relieved to see Ishana’s smile… He tries to drive as fast as possible because the weather is turning bad… He wants to reach home before it started to rain… But, their bad luck, rain starts to pour heavily… Omkara drives carefully… Ishana enjoys watching the rain… Omkara too smiles looking at her and concentrate on his driving… After a while, Ishana looks somewhere in confuse…
Ishu: Stop the car!!
Om: (confused) What happened??
Ishu: (pointing at a man who is trying to stop some cars) I think he is in a problem and need our help…
Om: How do you know??
Ishu: It’s just a guess… Why he has to stand in this heavy rain without umbrella and stop our car??
Om: (thinks a while) Ok… I’ll ask him… (He stops his car near the man and slide down his window)
Man: (cries badly) Sir ji, my wife suffering from labor pain… Please help us… I tried to stop many cars for long time but no one stopped… Please, sir ji… I beg you… (Cries terribly)
Om: Ok… We will help you… But, where is your wife…
Man: She is at home, sir… It’s nearby here only… But, we have to walk there… My area is covered by flood… Car cannot go inside…
Om: Ok… I will come with you… Ishana, you stay here… I’ll go with him…
Ishu: No, Mr Omkara… I’m coming with you as well… I won’t stay here alone by letting you go with him… (Omkara knows that no point arguing with this girl and he just agrees…)
IshKara walks in the heavy rain following the man to his house… They enter the house and see few people there… IshKara heard a screaming voice of a lady from a room… IshKara go inside the room and see a lady lying down screaming in pain… There are few ladies beside her holding her hands calming her… Ishana goes towards the lady and checks her… Omkara goes out from the room and looks around the house… He realised that they are very poor and feels bad for them… Ishana comes to him…
Om: What happened??
Ishu: We have to take her to hospital as fast as possible… Her pulse is very weak… Moreover, her water bag is broken…
Om: Then, let’s go and take her to hospital…
Man: But, sir, there is no hospital nearby here… It is 20km away from this area… We can’t reach there fast in this rain…
Ishu: (towards Omkara) We have to do something… Every minute we delay, her life will be in danger…
Omkara remembers something and goes to Ishana… He takes her aside… Ishana looks at him in confuse…
Ishu: Why did you bring me here??
Om: You are a medical student, right??
Ishu: (surprised) I was a medical student… Not now… I stopped my studies years ago…
Om: Maybe… But, you still can remember what you studied years ago…
Ishu: What are you trying to say?? Say it clearly…
Om: You need to deliver the baby!!!
Ishu: (shocked) What?? Are you mad?? How I will do the delivery for her?? I can’t do it…
Om: Ishana, we don’t have any other option… You are the one can help the lady to give birth…
Ishu: No!!! I can’t!!! I can’t do it… Try to get any doctor nearby her… I won’t do the delivery for her…
Om: (sarcastically) Woww, Miss Ishana!!! Woww!!! (Claps his hand) I never thought that you can be this selfish… I always thought that you are a selfless person and thinks of others first… (Holds her arms tightly in anger and shakes her) But, today you proved me wrong… You are a number one selfish person that doesn’t care about a mother who is suffering from a labor pain… Your family did a big mistake by making you study for medicine… You left your studies incomplete and don’t even implement whatever you studied in a critical situation like this… What kind of a person are you?? Being a woman, you don’t want to help another woman… I’m really ashamed of you…
You always said that you did a sin by aborting your bhabhi, no, your mother’s baby and everyday you are dying in guiltiness because of that… I felt bad for you that time and thinks you did that to save your bhabhi… But, I was wrong… You didn’t feel guilty at all… If you feel guilty, you must have agree to help this helpless lady… If you think that you want to rectify the sin you did before, you will save this mother and baby… (Pushes her) I’m giving you two options… Do you want to rectify your sin or increase your sins?? (Turns from her) Just remember… Last time, it was your situation that you have to choose either one… This time there are two lives depending on you… It’s up to you to save them or not… (Ishana just stands in numb listening to him… Each of his words pierced deeply in her heart… She is very much hurt with his words… Tears are flowing unstoppable from her eyes… She turns from him and goes to the lady… She feels bad looking at her who is suffering in pain…)
Ishu: (wipes her tears and go towards the neighbors) Give me some hot water, scissors, clean towel, bedsheet and blanket… Do you have tables?? It will be easier if we placed her on the table…
Lady1: Each of our house having a table… We will ask our husbands to bring the tables…
Ishu: Thank you… Please be fast…
The men went to their houses and bring the tables… Omkara helps them arranging the tables as said by Ishana… The ladies spread a bedsheet on the tables… The men including Omkara lift the pregnant lady and placed her on the table… Ishana takes the blanket and cover the lady… All the men went out of the room leaving the ladies with Ishana… Omkara is standing at the door looking at Ishana…
Ishu: (towards the pregnant lady) Madam, I can understand your pain but please don’t fall weak… The baby can born safely only if you stay strong… Please save all of your energy for your baby… (The lady nods weakly) (towards another lady who is standing beside her) You go and push her stomach downwards… (The lady obeys and do as said by Ishana)
The lady’s husband is crying outside thinking of his wife… Omkara is calming him…
Man: My wife is everything for me… I don’t have anyone than her… She get pregnant after so many years… I can’t see her suffer like this… I won’t be alive if anything happens to her…
Om: Don’t worry, brother… Nothing will happen to your wife and your baby… Their saviour is with them…(looking at Ishana… Omkara hugs the man…)
After a while…
Ishu: The baby is almost come… Madam, please be ready… When I ask you to push, please use all of your energy and force… (The lady nods her head controlling her pain… Ishana looks at her hand which started to shiver…. She thinks…) Oh, God!! My hand started to shiver… This is why I said that I won’t do this delivery… How I’m going to hold the baby?? The baby needs to be hold carefully… Please do something, God… I need to save these two lives…
Ishana closed her eyes and pray… She feels someone holding her hand… She opens her eyes and look at Omkara who is holding her hand tightly… He signs her through his eyes that he is with her… Ishana just blinks her eyes saying thank you…
Ishu: (look back at the lady) Madam, push!!! (The lady used her full force and push the baby… IshKara received the baby with their hands…)
The whole house are filled with baby’s cry… IshKara are holding the baby in their hands… They look each other with tear filled eyes… Everyone are relieved listening to the cry…
Ishu: (towards a lady) Sister, place two clips at the umbilical cord… (The lady do as she said) Mr Omkara, take the scissors and cut the umbilical cord in the between… (Omkara is surprised but Ishana just nods at him… He too follows as she said and cuts the umbilical cord carefully… He looks at her and smiles…)
Ishana wraps the baby using a clean towel… IshKara show the baby to the lady…
Ishu: Congratulations… You got a baby boy… (She smiles looking at her baby and gently caresses it… She wants to carry her baby but Ishana stops her…) I know that you want to carry him but you are very exhausted now… Take rest for a while… I’ll give him to you after cleaning him… Don’t worry… I won’t take too long because you need to feed him…
Ishana took the baby for cleaning with some ladies… After a while, she come back with the baby and shows him to his father and the neighbors… All are very happy looking at the baby…
Man: Madam, is my wife fine??
Ishu: Don’t worry… Your wife is fine… But, she need to be checked by the doctor to make sure she is perfectly fine..
Om: We will take your wife and baby to the hospital after the rain stops… Don’t worry…
Ishu: The baby need to feed by his mother… I need to bring him to her… You all can see him again after a while… (They agree and Ishana goes to the room bringing the baby…)
Ishana gives the baby to his mother… The mother embraces her baby lovingly and starts feeding him… Ishana and the ladies leave from the room… Ishana ask the husband to join his wife and son… The husband goes inside the room… Ishana is involved talking with the little kids…
Omkara goes towards Ishana to talk with her… Ishana looks at him and still feeling hurt with Omkara’s words… Omkara understand that she is still hurt… He is about to say something but the husband came and called IshKara to the room… IshKara follow him inside…
Lady: Thank you very much both of you… If you are not here, I don’t think that me and my baby can survive… Today, we both are alive because of you both…
Ishu: Don’t say big words… Nothing in our hands…
Man: No madam ji… My wife is saying the truth only… I was asking for help for long time but no one stop their cars… Both of you only came for our help in this heavy rain… My mother used to say that God won’t come directly to help us but he will send someone for help… It’s true in our case… The God sent you both to help us… You are our God… (Folds his hand)
Om: (holds his hands) Please don’t say these big words… We are not God… Don’t compare us with God… We are just a human being like you… It’s our fate that we have to meet in this situation…
Ishu: Exactly… I agree with him… Besides, we get a chance to help you all… I never thought that my studies which I left years ago will help me today… Thanks to you, Mr Omkara… (Omkara just smiles at her)
Lady: This shows your humbleness… But, I have a small wish… Can you fulfill it??
Ishu: What is that?? We will try to do it…
Lady: I want both of you to name my son… (IshKara smiles looking at her… Ishana is about to say something but shocked listening to Omkara)
Om: Dev… (Smiles looking at Ishana but she gives him a surprising look… Ishana smiles looking at the couple and their son…)
Man: (smiles) Nice name…
After a while, IshKara take them to the hospital and leave after the doctors confirm that the mother and son are healthy…
