Gauri gets a call from the school.
C: Hi Gauri. We just got a huge donation from SKG charities and with all this money, not only we can pay for all the kids’ operations, we can renovate the entire school.
G: SKG Charities? Who are they?
She uses internet chachi to google SKG charities. The first entry is a current new article on how SKG charities has helped out 5 schools in the area. They are focused on taking young children on the streets and bringing them to the school where they can learn and develop themselves. The phone number of the executive was listed and his name is Ram. She decides to call him and thank him personally for his donation. She decides to meet him at a local café.
Gauri approaches him.
R: Gauri mam?
G (Thinking): Mam? Who is he? (Says) Sorry, do I know you?
R: I work Omkara sir. I have seen a picture of you and Omkara sir said that it was his wife. He was the one who started the SKG charity and said not to tell anyone. I will be the executive of the charity while he offers the financing. That way no one will know that an Oberoi is behind the donation.
They both leave and Gauri starts thinking while going back home.
G( Thinking): His told his employee that I am his wife. Why does he have a picture of me? He went through all this hassle for me. I need to get him a thank you gift.
Gauri returns home with the gift and goes to his room. She first knocks, but no answer. She opens the room and cannot find Om. She sees a black book in the room and opens it.
G: This is Om’s diary.
She starts reading it and finds out his past that scarred him for life. His parents’ relationship, Ranveer’s sister’s accident, his drug addiction, Ishana, Riddhima and finally his father’s challenge.
G: How can a person have all these challenges in his life? No wonder he does not trust me. If all these people played with his life like this, then he would not trust anyone. Thank goodness his brothers were there for moral support. They helped him.
Om enters the room and sees Gauri with his diary.
O: You know, it is indecent to read someone’s diary.
G: Sorry, Om. I never knew it was your diary. It is only when I started reading, I found out it was your diary. No wonder you do not trust me. Every since you were a child, so many people manipulated you so when you saw me, you thought I was going to be the same as well. I have respect for you, Om.
O (Thinking): I cannot believe Gauri understands how I feel. I do not want to turn it into sympathy. (Says) That is life. A human has to face whatever life throws at him. So why were you waiting for me?
G: I got a call from the school and they told me they got a huge donation from SKG. They are also helping five other schools in the area as well. So, I went to Ram, the executive of skg, and talked to him.
O: Yh, I saw it in the news. Such a great initative. (He picks up a magazine and turns around, his back facing Gauri)
G (Thinking): Why has he not told me that he started skg? Oh well, I will just tell him. (Says) Apparently, even though Ram is the executive, he does not have control over the financing.
Om was shocked and turns around. He places the magazine on the bed and realizes that Gauri has figured out it was him that organized all this.
O: Yes, it was me. But, the money is not from the Oberoi family. It is my money so I donated a portion of it. A group of my friends also decided to pitch in. I will be getting a few corporate sponsors as well. I did not want to tell anyone because there was no need for the publicity. I saw these kids and it truly made me understand that I do not need a Roll Royce to live. These are luxuries. Instead, I prefer simplicity. It also reminds me of the old time when I did not know anything about…
G: Ishana, Riddhima and your father. Yes, I know. Thank you, Om. I have a gift for you.
O(Thinking): A gift for me? This is my first gift from Gauri.
Gauri shows him a huge card (Imagine 24 inches by 48 inches paper) with all the kids from the 5 schools thanking him for his donation.
G: This is the best I can do. Instead of buying you something, I thought it is better if I presented you this card that shows all the kids’ lives you have changed.
Om starts tearing up. Then he sees Gauri’s thank you. “Omkara Singh Oberoi, there are times when I hated you but after seeing all this, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for supporting my mother. Thank you for supporting my education and taking care of me. Thank you for everything.”
Omkara hugs her and Gauri just shivers in his arms. He quickly pulls back, realizing what he has done.
Gauri heads out.
O: Gauri Kumari Sharma, I would not have done it if you have not given me the idea. I hope you figure out out SKG stands for.
Gauri hears what she says, especially the “Gauri Kumari Sharma” but she does not turn around. Om is only doing this because of me. A way of thanking me for helping out of his family. Once my education is done, I am leaving.
Gauri goes to her room and wonders what GKS stands for. She tries different abbreviations, Good Kids … Nothing seems to work out. Then her thoughts go to Omkara calling her Gauri Kumar Sharma. She writes it down on a piece of paper and then her initials. GKS…
Gauri: (She says each letter. ) G…K …S… and then she flips the letters. S…K… G. SKG charities. He named it after me.
Gauri smiles at the thought of it and goes to sleep.
