The upcoming show, Jagannath aur Purvi Ki ‘Dosti Anokhi’ has created a lot of buzz amongst the audience with its first glimpse. The show is based on the innocent friendship between an elderly man, Jaganath Mishra and a young girl, Purvi.
Actress Ismeet Kohli who will be essaying the role of Purvi in the show talked about it in a recent interview with Bt. She shared, “The driving factor behind choosing ‘Dosti Anokhi’ was the story which is not unique but very cute. While I was getting the story narrated, I was smiling and had happy tears in my eyes. Also, the channel has been very experimental with its shows compared to what other TV channels are doing. The production value, the way things are handled, is very natural and real. So, while making the decision, I considered how the channel looks at its TV shows, how the story was, and also the character which I am playing is very adorable, so I did not have any reason to decline the show.”
Talking about her role, Ismeet said, “In the show, everybody says “Purvi is mad” which I believe too but I think she is adorable as well. She wears her heart on her sleeves. Purvi knows that she wants the love of her life and she is not afraid to go after it. A hopeless romantic girl, she believes in the power of love and will do whatever it takes to live a happy life. She is a simple girl and does not want to hurt anyone.”
When asked how would she like to describe the story in her own words, the actress replied, “Friendship is all about how they teach each other a lot of things. Purvi comes into Jagannath’s life and he becomes kinder over time with everybody, especially Kusum, his wife. As the story progresses, the good part is that they also help each other navigate life in their sweet ways. One will learn a lot about love, what it means to be in a long-term committed relationship, What love means to the older generation and what love means to the younger generation.”
On being asked if she related to her role of Purvi, she said, “Personally in a lot of ways, yes but in some ways no. She has a crazy personality which I relate to and both of us do not have any filters when it comes to speaking our heart out. I love Purvi as a character, there are moments when I feel she is very relatable. I think it’s great how naive and innocent she is because I think as you go through life, those traits kind of go away. I think I am more pragmatic and more practical when I approach love as a subject. I don’t think I dare to run away for love. She believes love should be all-consuming but that’s not my belief. But otherwise, I am a chatterbox and wear my heart on my sleeve.”
Talking about the shooting experience in Banaras, Ismeet shared, “My experience while shooting in Banaras was outstanding. We all met for the first time and got along really well. It was super cold but the food was fantastic. At the ghats on the Ganga it was just very beautiful and something that I have not experienced before so overall it was exciting to shoot over there,” she concluded.
