Jasmin Bhasin on Women’s Day; says, “I always felt women can do more than become arm candies”

Jasmin Bhasin who has carved her way to success and earned stardom recently talked about Women’s Day in an interview with India Forums. When asked what does this day mean for her and to what extent do women empowerment matter to her and she shared, ”We don’t need a day to celebrate women, for me every day is a women’s day. Everyday women challenge their capabilities and outdo themselves. When you empower a woman, you empower a family, you empower a society. There are things that men have been doing for ages, and it’s the women who have taken up newer roles and accepted newer challenges and have done wonders. Women empowerment is as important as gender equality and I feel as a country we have progressed in both but we have a long way to go.”

Jasmin also talked about the one thing she would like to change about how women are seen in the industry. She said, ”One thing I always felt that could change in the industry has already changed. I always felt women can do much more than become arm candies, and today we see them play such powerful and impactful roles. Today, a show or a film doesn’t ride on a male actor’s shoulder, a female actor is given equal importance and equal screen time. However, sometimes, women are still shown as the bechaaris, I feel that should stop.”

We wish Jasmin and everyone a Happy Women’s day!

On the professional front, Jasmin is all set for her Punjabi movie debut with the upcoming Honeymoon, also starring Gippy Grewal.
