Chapter 37
When her world comes to a standstill !!
After some time , Naira composed her self and stood in front of the mirror. She wipped her tears.
“What has happened to you Naira ?!! You already knew that he was only hers. You are in middle of them.” an evil voice in her head said. Tears didn’t stop oozing out of her eyes.
“No !! He is not hers. Karthik is mine.” Naira’s heart cried out.
Naira wiped her eyes which are now red and swollen. She knew for a fact that she loved Karthik and she won’t let go off him so easily.
“Why am I over reacting when he hasn’t said anything ?!!” Naira said to herself.
“Because you are afraid of loosing him.” the devilish voice spoke again. Naira shook her head in a negative, deceiving herself.
“I won’t loose him.” Her heart cried out again.
She came out of the washroom wiping her hands. She walked towards their table, but suddenly stopped noticing Karthik’s absence. She immediately turned to Gayu’s table and once again her heart started racing fastly, as even she was missing.
“Where is Karthik ?!!” Naira asked Keerti, who was still sitting on their table.
“He went out to make a call. Why are you sweating ?!!” Keerti answered and asked at the same time. Naira then realized her state.
“No…its…just..I will be back in a minute.” Naira said.
Without giving any further chance for her sister in law to ask any questions, she came out of the restaurant.
After walking for a minute or two, she saw them, walking hand in hand. The area was almost empty. Naira started walking behind them with a considerable distance so that she can hear their conversation.
Abruptly, Karthik and Gayatri stopped walking and they both stood facing each other. Naira observed that they were still holding each others hand. It did not make her any happier. What were they even doing together ?!!
Karthik suddenly pulled Gayu close to himself and she giggled. Ugh !! How Naira wished she could strangulate this women as she walked hand in hand with her husband.
“Thank you so much for forgiving me Karthik.” Gayu said. Her voice had that genuineness and guilt which any redeemed person would have.
“Its our love that made me forgive you, Gayu.” Karthik said as Gayatri caressed his face with her fingers.
“I should have thought in a different way Karthik. I always thought that you and your family were trying to change me and my life style but I was wrong. I must learn compromising. Look at me, you loved me unconditionally but I completely misunderstood you.” Gayatri said.
“You just got delayed in recognising my love for you, Gayu.” Karthik said, his voice full of love and longing.
Naira closed her eyes. She was hurt and disappointed. He had never called her with such love, dripping from his voice. Tears oozed from Naira’s eyes.
“Why Karthik ?!! I have hurt you a lot. I am not a person who should be forgived so easily.” Gayu said but Karthik placed his finger on her lips, to prevent her from speaking further.
“For me, you were always perfect Gayu. You still are perfect and will be perfect for me, always. Its just that situations were not in our favour. Now that you have realized your love for me and my love for you, we can live happily ever after.” Karthik asurred her.
“But what about your wife ?!! What about Naira ?!!” Gayatri asked.
Naira’s ears became more aware and intent after listening to Gayu’s question. Half of her heart wanted to listen Karthik’s answer, while the other half wanted to run from there and hide somewhere.
“I know. I remember about her but its okay. I will divorce her.” Karthik said with a sigh.
“You can’t do that to her, Karthik. She is innocent.” Gayatri said.
“But she doesnt love me. You are my first love. My only love.” Karthik said
“She will feel bad, Karthik. I think she has started loving you.” Gayatri said.
“You think she loves me ?!!” Karthik asked.
Gayatri nodded her head faintly but Naira nodded her head vigorously, in a yes. Ofcourse, she loved him. He was the only idiot, who had not yet realised it.
“She doesn’t love me, Gayu. She herself has clarified it. Her dad forced her into this marriage and I have tortured her emotionally. I have only hurt her, all this time that we have been together. So this will be her freedom too. She won’t have to bear with this forced husband anymore.” Karthik said.
“If you say so, then its okay. Because I don’t want to hurt someone else for my happiness.” Gayu said.
“Naira is a very understanding girl. She will definitely support us.” Karthik said.
“How can you even think like this, Karthik ?!!” Naira’s mind spat out. How can he even think that she would live without him.
“Finally, everything is falling in its place. We will find a good match for her too. I even have a collegue of mine who would be perfect for her.” Gayatri suggested.
“Yes. We need to find a good person who will fulfill all her wishes and dreams.” Karthik said.
“I don’t want anyone but you” Naira’s inner voice screamed.
“You are still the same person. Kind, caring, loving and once again mine.” Gayatri said and kissed him on the cheek.
“Yes, completely yours.” Karthik said and smiled.
Those words held so much of promise and love that it twisted a knife in Naira’s heart.”How dare you snatch my husband from me ?!!” Naira wanted to question Gayatri.
Gayu on the other hand hugged Karthik tightly and said, “I love you Karthik. Only you.”
“I love you too.” Karthik said and kissed her.

Here is another update for all of you. I had some free time so could post it. I want to thank all of you for understanding my situation and forgiving me for my absence.
Don’t have much to write in the Author’s Note today as I am all caught up with my studies. Will surely catch up will all that has happened soon.
I will try my best to update the next Chapter tomorrow !!
