Chapter 8
The hurt and the care.

Karthik was disturbed by a sound of a “Thud” followed by a cry. Looks like something has fallen, he thought to himself. He immediately got up from his sleep and looked for the source of the sound.

His eyes widened in alarm as he saw the cradle fallen on Naira’s right leg. She had tears in her eyes but they had not yet rolled down to her cheeks. She sank down on the floor crouching in pain.

Nothing came into his mind, and completely aghast, he ran to her side. He carefully yet fastly removed the cradle from above her leg. He looked at her feet and it was red from bleeding.

There was a big gash and her ankle looked horribly twisted. Karthik touched her leg softly and winced as he could not bear to even look at the sight.

Karthik looked at Naira who had squeezed her eyes shut and bit hard on her lower lip because of all the pain. Karthik looked at her worriedly as he saw a drop of blood appear where she had bitten her lower lip. Boy, she was in pain he thought.

Karthik immediately picked her up in his arms and took her inside the bedroom. He made her lay down on the bed and went to the washroom to get some cold water. Once out of the warshroom, he took out his handkerchief from the wardrobe and dipped it in the water. He then lightly cleaned her wound, blowing air on it from time to time. Naira felt relieved when the cold water touched leg.

“We need to go to the doctor, Naira. The bleeding is not stopping.” Karthik said panicked as his handkerchief and the water both had turned red by that time.

“No need, Karthik. It will stop in a while.” Naira said through her tears and karthik felt more bad for her state.

He ignored her completely and carried her in his arms again. Took his cell phone and wallet from the side table and walked out of the bed room. Once they reached downstairs he saw Vrushika Bhabhi cutting the vegetables sitting on the dinning table. Vrushika bhabhi gasped as she saw Naira’s state and her bleeding leg.

“What happened ?!!” She asked Karthik.

“The cradle in my room fell on her leg. I am taking her to the hospital as the bleeding is not stopping. Don’t worry bhabhi, I will take care of her.” He assured her and looked at naira with his eyes full of promise that he had just now delievered. Naira looked back into his eyes with her own tear filled ones.

“Ohkay. Both of you go ahead. I will wake up shantanu and we will follow you in our car.” She said and hurried upstairs to wake up her husband.

Karthik walked out of the mansion and set her down carefully letting her lean against his car as he opened the door to the passenger seat in front. Once he had opened the door, he picked her up again and carefully placed her on the front seat.

Naira looked at him in shock as he bent down, closer to her face and put on her seatbelt. He then closed the door and went around the car to get into the driver’s seat. Naira felt warm tears roll down her cheeks as the throbbing pain in her right leg, overwhelmed her. The intense pain made her dizzy and nauseous.

She saw Karthik get into the driver’s seat and vaguely noticed the tension on his face. Then she passed out due to all the tiredness. But she was carefree even in her unconscious state as she knew he was there with her. She knew he would make sure that she would be ohkay.

He cared for her. And she knew that. She had trust on him.

Another short update for all you peeps. I hope you all liked it. Will be posting such short updates till the end of this month as I have my exams going on.

So as mentioned in the previous Chapters, Karthik is passionate towards music and loves to sing. So in the next Chapter he would be singing a song in a destressed state.
