Kanan Malhotra Reflects on Bittersweet Goodbye as ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai’ Nears Its End
In a heartfelt revelation, actor Kanan Malhotra, who portrays the character of Gunojirao in the historical TV show ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai,’ expresses his sadness as the show approaches its finale. After being an integral part of the show for a year and a half, bidding adieu proves to be a challenging endeavor for the talented actor.
Talking about it in a recent interview, Kanan shared, “Having spent around a year-and-a-half on ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai,’ saying goodbye is a tough pill to swallow. This role holds a special place in my heart, marking the first time I embraced a character with grey shades and played a negative role.”
Reflecting on his distinctive role as Gunojirao, Kanan discloses, “My character in ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai’ was quite different. I portrayed a character who stirs up troubles in people’s lives, causing turmoil in the family. Ahilyabai steps in to resolve the chaos created by my character. Initially, it was challenging to play this role, taking me a week to fully grasp it. However, as I delved into the character, my performance improved with each passing day. Now, the audience appreciates seeing me in this role.”
Having been part of renowned shows like ‘Rab Se Sohna Isshq’ and ‘Suryaputra Karn,’ Kanan acknowledges the unique and challenging nature of his role in ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai.’ He emphasizes the positive impact of social media, acknowledging the encouragement from fans. Kanan notes, “Social media provides a platform for fans to express their enjoyment of my performance, boosting my confidence and assuring me that people genuinely relish watching me on screen.”
