Kapil Nirmal who was missing from the small screen for four years has now been roped in to essay the role of Tarkasur in the show Baal Shiv. The phase where an actor has to wait between the projects is frustrating, but Kapil kept his calm and didn’t give up. Kapil was last seen in seen in Bhootu, which wrapped up in 2018 and a cameo appearance in Shakti last year.
The actor talked about his role in Baal Shiv during an interview with BT, he shared, “ Main toh devta banna chaahta tha, asur banne ki ichha nahi thi meri (smiles). I always thought that if I ever took up a mythological show, I would first play Lord Shiva. I believed that I was destined for it. I have been approached to portray Lord Shiva in almost every show, including Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev. However, when I was offered the character of Tarakasur in Baal Shiv, I was intrigued by the way the makers planned to explore his story. So, I thought, chalo karte dekhte hain.”
Kapil who rose to fame with his role of Yudhisthir Sisodia in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat was appreciated for his acting skills but it didn’t translate into more opportunities. Talking about the phase when he waited endlessly for work. He says, “ Jab aap ghar baithte ho toh usse badi takleef toh koi ho nahi sakti. You can rebuild your body and wealth, but jo 5-6 saal khaali jaate hain that is extremely painful. Maine sirf patton ko dekha, chidiyon ko dekha, aasmaan ko dekha aur raste ko dekha… bas camera nahi dekha. But I guess that’s the case with every other artiste.”
He adds, “Maybe, I am not proactive when it comes to mixing or approaching people. I can’t meet people for work. Sabko pata hai ki main ek actor hoon, kaam karna chaahta hoon. Now, reiterating it won’t make much of a difference.”
Talking about the budget issues that often discourage an experienced actor to take up a project, Kapil said, “People expect you to take the same remuneration that you were taking 10 years ago. Ab yeh toh galat hai na ki aap apne mahal bana le aur doosre ko gaadi bhi na milne de. I am not quoting an exorbitant amount, but I should be paid decent money, which justifies my experience and talent. Naye artistes kam mein kaam karte hain.”
