Chapter 2
It was early morning at Birla House and Yuvaan had proposed he wanted to spend a weekend with his friends celebrating his and Krishna’s engagement at their farmhouse. All the kids were busy preparing to leave. Yuvaan stood outside leaning against his car waiting for Krishna to come.
Why is she taking so long? he sighed tapping his foot impatiently.
Yuvaan! He turned around to see his friends walking towards him.
Why are you guys here? Humne tho farmhouse pe milna tha na? He asked
They told him they had decided they wanted to go with him instead as it would be more fun.
Waise guess karo kiska idea tha ye? Yuvaan looked at them confused Kiska?
His friends stepped aside to reveal someone standing behind them. Yuvaan felt a knot form in his stomach as he saw who it was.
She stood there showing off her tall, slender figure. She had a devilish smile on her face which would make anyone nervous.
Baby? Tum yaha kya kar rahi ho?
The girl walked towards Yuvaan and rested her arms on his shoulders.
Oh come on Yuvaan, tum shaadi kar rahe ho aur muje nahi bataya…apni kaas dost ko? she pouted tilting her head.
Tumhe pata hai na humare beech kya hua tha? Yuvaan took her arms off and turned away from her.
Lekin Yuvaan I’m still one of your friends, aur muje bhi tumhari khushi main shaamil hona hai…please? She pleaded.
Yuvaan sighed and hesitantly nodded. Baby smirked as Yuvaan agreed. She went and sat in the front seat of the car. Yuvaan didn’t get time to protest as his friends dragged him into the car and urged him to leave.
Krishna came out of the house just as Yuvaan left. Ab ye Yuvaan kaha chale gaya?
She looked around for him and just then she saw two guys walking towards the house. She realised one of them was Sayyam and he was laughing. Krishna couldn’t believe Sayyam could actually laugh let alone smile. She found herself smiling too as she stared at him.
Krishna, tum itna muskura kyu rahi ho? Yuvaani came out and looked into the same direction as Krishna. By now both guys were close by.
Golu bhaiyya?! Yuvaani squealed as she ran up to the other guy and hugged him. Krishna looked on puzzled and realised it was indeed Golu bhaiyya, but how did she not notice him?!
Yuvaani scolded Golu for choosing to meet Sayyam first before her.
Come on Yuvaani, you know ye tho mera best friend hai! Golu put his arm around Sayyams shoulder playfully as Sayyam cringed and pushed him away.
Krishna couldn’t stop staring at Sayyam, he had a warm smile on his face she had not seen before.
Krishna…’bhabhi’ congratulations! Krishna snapped out of her thoughts and saw Golu smiling at her.
Thank you Golu bhaiyya! She smiled back as he winked at her playfully. Golu worked abroad and was visiting especially for the wedding.
Acha ab sab chalo, Yuvaan tho nikal gaya hai tho Krishna tum humare saath agao. Yuvaani pulled Krishna towards Sayyams car.
Guys I’ll leave a bit later, muje abhi baki sab ko bhi milna hai aur bari bhook bhi lagi hai Golu grinned rubbing his belly. Yuvaani and Krishna laughed watching him go into the house.
Yuvaani, Sayyam and Krishna walked to Sayyams car. Krishna sat in the back seat as Yuvaani and Sayyam got into the front. Yuvaani turned on the radio and the song dil mein chupa lunga started playing.
Oh I love this song! Yuvaani started dancing to it.
Sayyam rolled his eyes at her and adjusted the rear view mirror as he started driving. He could see Krishna was also gently rocking to the song too and a smile crept onto his face. Why the hell are you staring at her?! He thought shaking his head and tried to focus on the road. But his eyes kept wondering back to Krishna. Sayyam couldn’t understand what was happening to him, why was this girl plaguing his mind? Krishna could feel someone’s eyes on her and looked up at the mirror. Their eyes met. Heat rushed to her face. She held his gaze for only a brief second, but it left both their heartbeats racing.
Sayyam stop the car! Sayyam pulled over and looked over at Yuvaani, worried Kyu hua? Tum theek ho? Yuvaani smiled at him and nodded.
She got out of the car as a motorbike pulled next to it. Sayyam leaned forward to see who is was and sighed exasperatedly realising it was her boyfriend. Yuvaani seriously?!…tum kisi din pakari jaogi.
Yuvaani stuck her tongue out at Sayyam at she got onto the bike. Krishna started panicking. She quickly got out of the car.
Yuvaani main kya karo? She looked at her desperately.
Kya matlab? tum Sayyam ke saath ao aur kya, main tho apne boyfriend ke saath baaki raste jaogi. I’ll see you later! Yuvaani waved goodbye as she rode off.
Krishna did not want to be alone with Sayyam. She hesitantly got back into her seat.
Excuse me!…main tumhara driver nahi hoon, come and sit in the front! Sayyam demanded, suprising Krishna as well as himself by his sudden outburst.
She got out and reluctantly made her way around to the front. She dared not look at Sayyam.
Seat belt pehen lo He told her. He looked over at Krishna who had her head down and was clearly not listening. He rolled his eyes and leaned towards Krishna.
Krishna suddenly looked up leaning back against her seat Ye kya kar rahe ho?!
The close proximity of their faces caught both of them off guard. She could feel his hot breath on her skin as they stared at each other.
Sayyam looked away. Over think karne ki zaroorat nahi hain, main to bas seat belt pehna raha tha.
He proceeded to put her seat belt on. Krishna sunk into her seat wanting to hide from embarrassment. There was an unbearable silence as Sayyam drove off again. They both wanted to say something, but couldn’t find the words.
Sayyam glanced over and saw Krishna was biting her bottom lip and fiddling with her hair. Tumhari ye bachpan ki aadat nahi gayi?
Krishna looked up at Sayyam surprised he was speaking to her. Krishna realised what she was doing and smiled. Tumhe yaad hai?
Sayyam looked at her Of course, tum waise ki waisi ho.
Krishna sat up on her seat. Acha par tum kyu itna badal gaye ho? She saw Sayyams face drop and felt a pang of guilt, remembering how the trauma of his past had affected him.
Waise tumhe yaad hai jab hum sab saath kehlthe the? Krishna quickly changed the subject.
A small smile formed on Sayyams face remembering those innocent, blissful days.
Haan. They started reminiscing about their childhood and those long forgotten days.
They arrived at the farmhouse. Krishna wiped away her tears from laughing so much. She was glad they were finally able to break the ice between them. They got out of the car. Yuvaan saw them and introduced Krishna to everyone. Krishna felt a bit uneasy meeting Baby, but ignored the feeling. Sayyam started taking out all the luggage and things from his car.
Yuvaan offered to help, but Sayyam refused. It’s ok yaar, tum jaa ke enjoy karo apne friends ke saath, it’s your party.
Yuvaan thanked Sayyam before going to Krishna and held her hand. Chal Krishna hum chalte hai phir.
Krishna looked back at Sayyam. Nahi muje Sayyam ki help karni chaiyye, he drove me here. She let go of Yuvaans hand and walked towards Sayyam.
Yuvaan looked on puzzled at Krishna’s behaviour, but was pulled away by his friends before he could think too much into it.
Sayyam saw Krishna come up to him. Muje tumhari help nahi chaiyye.
Sayyam started picking up the bags. Krishna snatched them off him. Hum dost hain na and I’m just returning the favour of you driving me here!. She walked past him towards the house. Sayyam watched her leave baffled by her sudden confidence.
Sayyam brought in some bags and sat on the bed tired. Krishna was bringing in the last bag. She was struggling with it as she stumbled into the room. Sayyam saw this and got up to help. The bag dropped from her hand as she tripped forward onto Sayyam. They both fell back onto the bed. Sayyam opened his eyes to find Krishna on top of him. Her head was rested on his chest as she clutched onto his shirt.
Krishna? He called out to her. Her hair was all dishevelled as she lifted her head. Sayyam moved his hands towards her face and gently tucked her hair behind her ears. Krishna felt his fingers lightly graze her face and neck. She shivered under his touch. Sayyam looked at Krishna. She had her eyes lowered, refusing to look at him.
Krishna? He called out again. Sayyam was about to lift her face, when Krishna pulled herself off of him. She turned around to leave, when Sayyam grabbed her wrist and nudged her towards him. Krishna looked at Sayyam in shock, taken aback by his sudden move. She jerked her hand away and ran out the room.
Sayyam sat there realising what he had just done. He buried his face in his hands. Ye tum kya kar rahe the Sayyam?! Woh tumhari bhai ki hone wali biwi hai! He was shaking.
Golu had just arrived and saw Sayyam sitting on the bed. Yaar tum theek ho?
Sayyam looked up at Golu, completely distraught. He told him what had happened. Golu knew what Sayyam was thinking.
Sayyam muje pata hain tum kya soch rahe ho, aur tum uske jaise bilkul nahi ho! Golu assured Sayyam putting his hand on his shoulder.
Lekin mere main control kyu nahi tha! Sayyam was close to tears.
Golu sighed, after so many years, Sayyam still couldn’t leave his past. Sayyam tum itna na socho, ye bas accident tha. Golu calmed Sayyam down and told him to rest, before leaving his room. Golu headed towards Krishnas room to talk to her.
Precap It’s the party and some of Yuvaan’s friends trouble Krishna as they dance.
